In episode 188, Solomon Muto uses this card during his duel against Joey Wheeler whiel the former was disguised as Apdnarg Otum. After Solomon activates this card, he uses this card's effect to swap the "Sinister Serpent" in his hand with the top card of his Deck. On Solomon's next turn, he discards "Sinister Serpent" to keep this card on the field. The effect of "Sinister Serpent" then activates, returning "Sinister Serpent" to Solomon's hand. After meeting all the necessary requirements, Solomon activates "Ancient Gate". Solomon then activates the effect of "Ancient City", send this card, "Ancient Gate", and "Ancient Giant" to the Graveyard in order to summon "Ancient Dragon".
During the Duel, Arthur Hawkins reveals to Yugi Muto and his friends (with the exception of Joey who was busy Dueling) that he had this card along with most of the other Ancient cards (the only card he didn't have was "Ancient City"); however it was Solomon who completed the collection first.
