Anime & Manga
- In the original manga, "Basic Insect" was a Level 5 monster.
- Weevil Underwood played this card during his match against Rex Raptor in national Duel Monsters Championship. After Weevil summoned this card, Rex attacked this card with Two-Headed King Rex on his turn, but Weevil activates Infinite Dismissal, negating the attack. Weevil then equipped this card with Insect Armor with Laser Cannon, strengthening it enough to allow it to destroy "Two-Headed King Rex" and win the duel.
- Weevil next played this card in his duel against Yugi Muto during the Duelist Kingdom tournament, where he immediately equipped it with Laser Cannon Armor and Level 2 Power Boost. In addition, this card received a 600-point boost to its ATK from the forest field, raising its ATK to 2600. Weevil then used this card to Destroy Yugi's Griffore. Later, he would attempt to destroy Yugi's Dark Magician with this card, only to trigger Yugi's Set Mirror Force, destroying this card along with every other one of Weevil's monsters.
