Yu-Gi-Oh!
- In the dub of episode 2 of the second series anime, Solomon puts up a poster featuring "Black Luster Soldier" and "Harpie's Pet Dragon". In the Japanese version, "Elf Swordsman" and "Hercules Beetle" are in the poster.
- In the first match of the Duelist Kingdom Finals (inside Pegasus' Castle), Yugi summoned this card and attacked, destroying Mai's Harpie's Pet Dragon and prompting Mai to surrender.
- In the Capsule Monsters saga, there is a Duel Armor that uses this card and "Blue-Eyes White Dragon". It fuses with "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" to give the armor's user the ability to destroy any Dragon monster regardless of position as long as the user has the Sword of Divinity with them. The main ability of this card when it is by itself you pick a type fusion, normal monters, or effect monters and black luster soldier gains the atk of the type you picked.
- The card was featured twice in the Virtual World. Yugi fuses the monster with Kaiba's "Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon" to create "Dragon Master Knight", which destroys the "Five-Headed Dragon" used against them. In the Virtual World arc, it is used to fend off Gozaburo Kaiba's monsters as the gang makes their escape.
- This card was also used in Yami and Kaiba's tag-team duel against Dartz. It was later fused into Dragon Master Knight.
- Its attack name is Chaos Blade in both versions.
