  • In episode 106, this card is shown in Jesse Andersen's hand during his duel against Jaden Yuki. On the second turn of the Duel, Jaden activates the effect of "Neo-Spacian Aqua Dolphin" to look at Jesse's hand. He then selects this card. Since Jaden controls "Aqua Dolphin", this card is destroyed and Jesse takes 500 damage. In the next episode, Jesse activates the effect of "Crystal Beast Sapphire Pegasus" to take this card from his Graveyard and place it in his Spell & Trap Card Zone as a Continuous Spell Card. Jesse then activates this card's first effect to Special Summon itself to the Monster Card Zone. Jesse then activates this card's second effect to Special Summon "Crystal Beast Cobalt Eagle", "Crystal Beast Amethyst Cat", and "Crystal Beast Amber Mammoth" from his Spell & Trap Card Zone. "Sapphire Pegasus" then attacks "Neo-Spacian Dark Panther" (whose ATK was 1800 due to it being equipped with "Neos Energy"), causing both monsters to be destroyed in a Double KO. Jesse then activates the last effect of "Sapphire Pegasus" to place it in his Spell & Trap Card Zone as a Continuous Spell Card. "Amethyst Cat" attacks Jaden directly via its own effect at the cost of halving the Battle Damage Jaden takes. "Cobalt Eagle" and "Amber Mammoth" then attack and destroy "Neo-Spacian Air Hummingbird" and "Neo-Spacian Glow Moss" respectively. This card then attacks Jaden directly. This card remained on the field until the Duel was over.
  • Jesse uses this card again in his duel against Trapper. It is placed in his Spell & Trap Card Zone as a Continuous Spell Card via "Sapphire Pegasus"' effect. It is then returned to his hand via "Take Flight". Jesse then uses "GEM Burst" to place this card and every other Crystal Beast in his hand into his Spell & Trap Card Zone and inflict 500 damage to Trapper for each Crystal Beast placed into his Spell & Trap Card Zone this way. Trapper then takes 2500 damage since five Crystal Beasts were placed into the Spell & Trap Card Zone this way, winning Jesse the duel.
  • Jesse uses this card in his duel against Emotionless Mask. It is placed in his Spell & Trap Card Zone as a Continuous Spell Card via "Sapphire Pegasus"' effect. He then Special Summons this card from the Spell & Trap Card Zone to the Monster Card Zone via its own effect. Jesse then used this card's other effect to summon all the Crystal Beasts in his Spell & Trap Card Zone to the Monster Card Zone. Emotionless Mask then tried to activate the effect of "Silent Space", but Jesse activates the effect of "Ancient City - Rainbow Ruins", sending "Topaz Tiger" from the Spell & Trap Card Zone to the Graveyard to negate the activation of "Silent Space" and destroy. Jesse then has all three of his monsters attack Emotionless Mask directly, winning him the duel.
  • Jesse uses this card in his duel against Zane Truesdale. It is placed in his Spell & Trap Card Zone as a Continuous Spell Card via "Crystal Release"'s effect. Later Jesse uses this card's effect to summon it to the Monster Card Zone. Jesse then used this card's other effect to summon all the Crystal Beasts in his Spell & Trap Card Zone to the Monster Card Zone. This card played no other part in the duel after that.
  • Jesse uses this card in his Tag duel with Jaden against the Yubel-possessed Marcel. It is placed in his Spell & Trap Card Zone as a Continuous Spell Card via "Sapphire Pegasus"' effect. Jesse then sends this card to the Graveyard due to "Rare Value"'s effect.
  • Jesse uses this card in his duel against Jaden while the latter was seeing Jesse as Trueman due to his mind being affected by his darkness infected "Polymerization". It is placed in the Spell & Trap Card Zone as a Continuous Spell Card via "Golden Rule". Jesse later sends this card to the Graveyard to activate "Rare Value".
  • During Jesse's Triangle Duel with Jaden and Yusuke, Jesse is forced to discard this card from his hand via the effect of "Clear World"(as Jesse had a WATER monster out on his field). Jesse later banishes this card, "Emerald Tortoise", "Sapphire Pegasus", and "Topaz Tiger" to activate the effect of "Rainbow Dragon".
  • In addition, Jesse is the closest with this monster as it is his duel spirit and lovingly nicknames her "Ruby".
  • Unlike the other Crystal Beasts, Ruby Carbuncle doesn't speak (in either version). She meows "Ruby" in a cute voice in both versions (similar to how Jaden's "Winged Kuriboh" simply calls out in a cute growling fashion).
  • In the dub, this card's ability is called "Ruby Rampage". In Japanese, its attack name is called "Ruby Flash" and effect name is called "Ruby Happiness".
  • In the anime, Ruby's effect could be used if it was Special Summoned to the Spell/Trap Zone.
