- In the manga, "Kairyu-Shin" was used by Mako Tsunami and was known as "Levaithan".
- Kairyu-Shin could turn the field into a Sea when it is Summoned (i.e. Umi or A Legendary Ocean).
- In episode 7 of the second series anime, Mako Summoned this card against Yami Yugi. It was destroyed when Yugi's Giant Soldier of Stone destroyed Mystical Moon, drying up the Umi field and allowing Curse of Dragon, equipped with Burning Land, to destroy all of Mako's monsters.
