- In the manga, "Kairyu-Shin" was used by Mako Tsunami and was known as "Levaithan".
- "Kairyu-Shin" could turn the field into a Sea when it is Summoned (i.e. "Umi" or "A Legendary Ocean").
- In episode 7 of the second series anime, Mako Summoned this card against Yami Yugi. He then sent it to destroy Yugi's "Silver Fang" and the attack also ended up flooding almost all of the field, leaving only 5% of land remaining. It was destroyed when Yugi's "Giant Soldier of Stone" destroyed "Mystical Moon", drying up the "Umi" field and allowing "Curse of Dragon", equipped with "Burning Land", to destroy all of Mako's monsters.
