- Mystic Box could only be used with Dark Magician. It destroyed one card on the opponent's side of the field.
- Yugi first used this in his Tag Duel with Joey against the Paradox Brothers. He uses it to have his Dark Magician switch places with the brothers' Jirai Gumo, destroying Jirai Gumo in the process.
- Yugi used this card again in his second Duel against Kaiba. He used this card to destroy Seto's "Ancient Lamp", allowing Dark Magician to destroy La Jinn the Mystical Genie of the Lamp.
- In episode 33, this card appears when Yami Yugi explains to Joey that Duel Monsters is about the balance between Monsters and Spell and Trap Cards.
- Yugi used this card again in his final Duel against Maximillion Pegasus. He used this card to make "Dark Magician" and "Jigen Bakudan" swap places. This in turn unequipped "Dark Magician" from "Relinquished" and returned it to Yugi's side of the field while "Jigen Bakudan" was equipped in its place.
- During a game of Dungeon Dice Monsters, while playing against Duke Devlin (the game's creator), Yugi revealed that "Mystic Box" was one of the abilities possessed by "Dark Magician", requiring at least 2 Magic Crests to activate it. "Mystic Box" caused Yugi's "Dark Magician" to exchange positions with Duke's "Yaranzo", which was destroyed by its secondary effect, while "Dark Magician" attacked Duke's final Heart Point and won Yugi the game.
- This card was shown in Yugi's hand during his Duel against Joey Wheeler while the latter was possessed by Marik Ishtar.
- In episode 129, this card is seen in a flashback Yugi has when he remembers the last time he used "Exchange" and how the latter card helped him save Joey from Marik's mind control.
- In episode 131, this card is seen in a series of flashbacks Kaiba has when he notes to himself that he always feels excited when he Duels against Yugi.
Naming
In the Spanish Anime, this card was known as "Cajas Místicas".
