Yu-Gi-Oh!

  • Pegasus played this card in his duel with Yugi Muto. After summoning it, he used this card's effect to absorb "Curse of Dragon" who was rendered immobile because of "Dark-Eyes Illusionist". When "Dark Magician" attacked this card, this card used the absorbed "Curse of Dragon" as a shield, causing it to be destroyed instead. On the next turn, Pegasus then used this card's effect to absorb "Dark Magician". It would then attack and destroy Yugi's "Feral Imp" and his "Winged Dragon, Guardian of the Fortress 1" before Pegasus summoned out his "Jigen Bakudan". Yami Yugi was then able to free his "Dark Magician" with "Mystic Box" which also had "Jigen Bakudan" be the equip card on this card instead. On the next turn, Yami used "Brain Control" to take control of this card although Pegasus considered the move suicide since "Jigen Bakudan" detonates this turn. However Yami activates the last card Yugi left behind before he passed out. It is then revealed to be "Dark Magic Ritual". Yami then tributed "Dark Magician" and "Jigen "Bakudan" to Ritual Summon "Magician of Black Chaos". This move in turn saved himself from losing due to "Jigen Bakudan"'s effect. Once Yami ended his turn, this card went back to Pegasus' control. Pegasus then used "Polymerization" to fuse this card with "Thousand-Eyes Idol" to Fusion Summon "Thousand-Eyes Restrict".
  • This card can be seen when Duke Devlin is building his Virtual World deck during episode 106, though he does not select it.
  • When Relinquished is attacked while equipped with a monster, Battle Damage is only done to the opponent.
  • In the manga version, Relinquished could Equip itself with more than one Monster at one time.
  • Its attack in the anime is Pilphered Power Attack in the English dub. In the Japanese version, its attack name was Illusion Black Magic, though since it was equipped with Dark Magician at the time, whose attack is Black Magic in the Japanese version, it presumably appends "Illusion" in front of the equipped monster's attack name.
  • Its effect to equip itself with an opponent's monster is called Hypnotic Attraction in the English dub and Dark Eyes Magic in the Japanese version.
  • Its effect to destroy the equipped monster in place of itself in battle is Defense Shield in the English dub and Sacrifice Shield in the Japanese version.
