Yu-Gi-Oh!
- When this monster is attacked while equipped with a monster, Battle Damage is only done to the opponent.
- In the manga version, this monster could Equip itself with more than one Monster at one time.
- Its attack is Pilphered Power Attack in the anime's English dub while it is Illusion Black Magic in the anime's Japanese version while equipped with "Dark Magician".
- Its effect to equip itself with an opponent's monster is called Hypnotic Attraction in the English dub and Dark Eyes Magic in the Japanese version.
- Its effect to destroy the equipped monster in place of itself in battle is Defense Shield in the English dub and Sacrifice Shield in the Japanese version.
- In the anime, when this card absorbs a monster, it absorbs it into a vortex created by the bottom hole on its lower section. While equipped with a monster in the anime, its wings will close up and the monster equipped will be shown attached to this card's wings. When the equipped monster is destroyed, this card's wings open back up.
Duelist Kingdom
- When Yugi duels Maximillion Pegasus, Pegasus plays this monster after tributing his "Dark-Eyes Illusionist" via "Black Illusion Ritual". He then used this monster's effect to absorb Yami Yugi's "Curse of Dragon" (who was rendered immobile earlier due to "Dark-Eyes Illusionist"). When Yami Yugi has "Dark Magician" attack this monster, this monster uses Yugi's "Curse of Dragon" as a shield and the attack destroyed "Curse of Dragon" instead of this monster. Due to this card's effect Yugi takes the Battle Damage instead of Pegasus. On the next turn, Pegasus uses this monster's effect to absorb Yugi's "Dark Magician". Later Pegasus has this monster attack and destroy Yugi Muto's "Feral Imp". Doing this wore out Yugi due to stress of the Shadow Game, causing Yami Yugi to permanently take over the duel. After Pegasus has this monster (still absorbed with Yugi's "Dark Magician") attack and destroy Yami Yugi's "Winged Dragon, Guardian of the Fortress", Pegasus summons his "Jigen Bakudan" with the intention of using the special ability of "Jigen Bakudan" to destroy both this monster and Yugi's "Dark Magician" and win the duel for him. However, Yami Yugi uses "Mystic Box" to free his "Dark Magician" and have "Jigen Bakudan" be the equip card on this monster instead. On the next turn, Yami Yami uses "Brain Control" to take control of this monster although Pegasus considered the move suicide since "Jigen Bakudan" detonates this turn, but Yami Yugi activates the last card Yugi left behind before he passed out which was then revealed to be "Dark Magic Ritual". Yami Yugi then Tributes his "Dark Magician" and Pegasus' "Jigen Bakudan" to Ritual Summon "Magician of Black Chaos" which in turn also saved himself from losing due to the effect of "Jigen Bakudan". After Yami Yugi's turn, the effect of "Brain Control" expires, returning this monster back to Pegasus' side of the field. Pegasus then uses "Polymerization" to fuse this monster and "Thousand-Eyes Idol" together to create "Thousand-Eyes Restrict".

- When Duke Devlin, Tristan Taylor and Serenity Wheeler duel Nezbitt, this card is seen when Duke is building his Deck athough he doesn't select it.
Yu-Gi-Oh! GX
- During his duel with Slade Princeton, Chazz Princeton activates Painful Choice and selected this card along with three monsters and one Spell for its effect. He ends up sending this card, Royal Magical Library, Castle Gate and Copycat to the Graveyard as Slade chose to add Thunder Crash to Chazz's hand.
- During episode 39 this card can be seen on the ground after Chazz drops some of his cards after explaining who the culprits behind the theft of the Spirit Keys were.
Naming

- In the French dub, this card was known as " L'Abandonné" means "The Abandoned".
