In the anime, its paralyzing effect would only activate after all one thousand of its eyes were opened. The same effect could be negated if it were blinded.

In episode 39, Maximillion Pegasus plays this card against Yami Yugi. It was summoned when Pegasus used "Polymerization" to fuse his "Relinquished" with "Thousand-Eyes Idol". Once it was out, Pegasus activated this card's effect to immobilize Yami's monsters. He then tried to absorb "Magician of Black Chaos", but Yami revealed that his set monster was "Kuriboh" and that he activated his other face-down card "Multiply". This created many "Kuribohs" around Yami's "Magician of Black Chaos". Since it was too late to stop the effect, this card had no choice but to absorb the "Kuribohs" that were summoned. Once it did, this card's ATK was increased to 300 and then the "Kuribohs" self-destructed, blinding this card and negating its effect. Because of that, "Magician of Black Chaos" was now free to attack. Yami then destroyed this card with "Magician of Black Chaos", winning Yami the duel.

In episode 151, Pegasus is seen using this card against Mai Valentine in a flashback. It had equipped itself with "Harpie's Pet Dragon", but Mai wins the duel by using "Harpie Lady Phoenix Formation" to destroy it and inflict its total attack points to Pegasus as damage.

Its effect to prevent other monsters from attacking or switching their Battle positions was called Thousand Eyes Spell in the English version and Thousand Eyes Curse in the Japanese version. Its effect to equip itself with an opponents' monster is called Absorption Force in the English version and Evil Eye in the Japanese version. While equipped with an opponent's monster, its attack was called Pilfered Power Attack in the English version.
