OCG Rulings

• The effect "When a Spell effect that was activated on your opponent's side of the field resolves, negate that effect, then send this card to the Graveyard." does not start a Chain Link. When the effect of an opponent's Spell Card resolves, the effect of "Abyss-scale of the Mizuchi" is applied immediately.

• After this card has been equipped, if the opponent activates a Spell Card, this effect must be applied immediately when that effect resolves.

• This effect is applied even during the Damage Step or damage calculation.

• When your opponent activates "Gateway to Chaos", the effect of "Abyss-scale of the Mizuchi" is applied, and the effect "When this card is activated: Add 1 "Black Luster Soldier" Ritual Monster or 1 "Gaia The Fierce Knight" monster from your Deck to your hand." that is applied at the time of the activation is negated. Even in this case, "Gateway to Chaos" is placed in the Field Zone normally. After the activation of "Gateway to Chaos" resolves, since "Abyss-scale of the Mizuchi" was sent to the Graveyard by its own effect, the effect "When a Spell effect that was activated on your opponent's side of the field resolves, negate that effect" is no longer applied. Therefore, the effects "Each time a Monster Card(s) is sent from the hand or field to the Graveyard, place 1 Spell Counter on this card for each of those cards (max. 6)." and "Once per turn: You can remove 3 Spell Counters from this card; add 1 Ritual Spell Card from your Deck to your hand." of "Gateway to Chaos" are applied normally.

• When your opponent activates "Qliphort Scout" as a Spell Card, the effect of "Abyss-scale of the Mizuchi" is applied, and any effect that is applied at the time of the activation is negated. Even in this case, "Qliphort Scout" is placed in the Pendulum Zone normally. After the activation of "Qliphort Scout" resolves, since "Abyss-scale of the Mizuchi" was sent to the Graveyard by its own effect, the effect "When a Spell effect that was activated on your opponent's side of the field resolves, negate that effect" is no longer applied. Therefore, the effect "Once per turn: You can pay 800 LP; add 1 "Qli" card from your Deck to your hand, except "Qliphort Scout"." of "Qliphort Scout" can be activated and it resolves normally.

• If "Swords of Revealing Light" is negated by the effect of "Abyss-scale of the Mizuchi", the effect "Flip all monsters your opponent controls face-up." is negated and "Abyss-scale of the Mizuchi" is sent to the Graveyard. Even in this case, "Swords of Revealing Light" remains on the field for 3 of your opponent's turns and the effect "While this card is face-up on the field, monsters your opponent controls cannot declare an attack." is applied normally.
