Mentions in Other Rulings
- Chimera the Flying Mythical Beast: If more copies of "Chimera the Flying Mythical Beast" are destroyed while in your Extra Deck by "Chain Destruction" you can activate their effects and Summon "Berfomet" or "Gazelle the King of Mythical Beasts."[Notes 1]
OCG Rulings
- Suppose that a monster with 2000 ATK or less is Normal Summoned and "Chain Destruction" is activated. If a card like "Enemy Controller" or "TG1-EM1" is Chained to "Chain Destruction" so that control of the monster changes, then when resolving "Chain Destruction" the player who currently controls the monster destroys all cards with the same name in his hand and Deck.[1]
Previously Official Rulings
These TCG rulings were issued by Upper Deck Entertainment and have since been declared unofficial by Konami.[2] They were previously considered official and can still be correct, as long as they follow the official gameplay rules, or unless Konami has issued a ruling that says otherwise. - You can activate "Chain Destruction" when you or your opponent Summons the monster.
- "Chain Destruction" targets the Summoned monster.
- If an effect is chained that increases the Summoned monster's ATK above 2000 or removes it from the field, "Chain Destruction's" effect is still applied.
Mentions in Other Rulings
- Destiny HERO - Double Dude: If "Destiny Hero - Double Dude" is destroyed and sent to the Graveyard while in the hand or Deck his effect still activates, and you can Special Summon the 2 "Double Dude Tokens". He could be destroyed in the hand or Deck by effects like "Neo-Spacian Aqua Dolphin" or "Chain Destruction".
- Different Dimension Dragon: "Different Dimension Dragon" can be destroyed while in your hand or Deck with "Chain Destruction".
- Dimension Fortress Weapon: If “Chain Destruction” is activated while “Dimension Fortress Weapon” is on the field, copies of the monster in the player’s hand are destroyed, but not copies in their Deck.
- Disciple of the Forbidden Spell: If "Chain Destruction" is chained to the Trigger Effect when "Disciple of the Forbidden Spell" is Summoned, "Chain Destruction" will resolve first, so all your copies of "Disciple of the Forbidden Spell" will be in the Graveyard, and you choose a number of Attributes equal to the new amount.
- Divine Dragon - Excelion: If "Chain Destruction" is chained to the Trigger Effect when "Divine Dragon - Excelion" is Summoned, "Chain Destruction" will resolve first, so all your copies of "Divine Dragon - Excelion" will be in the Graveyard and you choose a number of effects equal to the new amount.
- Magical Thorn: The effect of "Magical Thorn" is NOT applied when cards in your hand are destroyed by "Chain Destruction]"....
- Regenerating Mummy: "Regenerating Mummy"'s effect will activate when destroyed and sent to the Graveyard because of "Chain Destruction".
- Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys: If "Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys" is destroyed while in your hand or Deck by a card effect, you still activate its effect during your next Standby Phase to Special Summon it from the Graveyard. (For example, if an effect like "Star Boy" is active, and "Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys" is Summoned, and "Chain Destruction" is activated to destroy other copies of "Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys" in the hand and Deck, those copies will be Special Summoned during your next Standby Phase.)
- Trap Monster: You can use “Chain Destruction” when “Embodiment of Apophis” is Special Summoned, and “Chain Destruction” will destroy all copies of “Embodiment of Apophis” in the hand and Deck even though they are Trap Cards.
