TCG Rulings
- Discarding a card is an effect, not a cost. You can activate the effects of "Dark World" monsters discarded by this effect.[1]
- If this card attacks "The Wicked Avatar", its ATK will become double that of "The Wicked Avatar" then "The Wicked Avatar" would become this card's ATK plus 100. No further change will occur.[1]
- If your opponent activates an Effect Monster's effect to destroy this card and you Chain an effect to take control of their monster, you can still discard 1 card from your hand to prevent this card from being destroyed by the effect.[1]
- You choose which card you want to discard to prevent this card's destruction.[1]
- If an opponent activates the effect of "Honest" when "Clear Vice Dragon" battles their LIGHT monster, "Clear Vice Dragon's" ATK will become twice the boosted ATK of the opponent's monster.[1]
Mentions in Other Rulings
- Clear World: If you control "Clear Vice Dragon" and any EARTH, FIRE, or WATER monsters, the effect of "Clear World" will start a Chain but it will resolve without effect.
OCG Rulings
- The effect of "Clear Vice Dragon" which alters its ATK is only applied during Damage Calculation.[2]
- When you discard instead of destroying "Clear Vice Dragon", the card is discarded by an effect. It is not a cost.[3]
- If you activate "Raigeki Break" and target your own "Clear Vice Dragon" and then the opponent Chains "Enemy Controller" to take control of your "Clear Vice Dragon", then your opponent chooses whether to discard one card from his hand or to have "Clear Vice Dragon" destroyed.[4]
- If the effect "The effect of "Clear World" is not applied to the controller of this card while this card is face-up on the field." of "Clear Vice Dragon" is active, then the "EARTH", "WATER", and "FIRE" effects of "Clear World" still activate and start Chain Links, even though the effects are not applied.[5]
- When you discard one card instead of having "Clear Vice Dragon" be destroyed, you choose which card you want to discard. The card is not chosen randomly.[6]
- If you discard "Goldd, Wu-Lord of Dark World" instead of having "Clear Vice Dragon" be destroyed, then "Goldd, Wu-Lord of Dark World" was discarded by the effect of "Clear Vice Dragon", so "Goldd, Wu-Lord of Dark World" may be Special Summoned.[7]
- When "Clear Vice Dragon" attacks "The Wicked Avatar", the ATK of "Clear Vice Dragon" will become twice the ATK of "The Wicked Avatar", but then the ATK of "The Wicked Avatar" will become the ATK of "Clear Vice Dragon" + 100.[8]
