Card Rulings:Superancient Deepsea King Coelacanth
OCG Rulings
- Discarding one card from your Hand is a Cost to activate the effect which Special Summons Fish-Type monster from your Deck.[1]
- Tributing one Fish-Type monster is a Cost to activate the "Negate the activation of a Spell Card/Trap Card/Effect Monster's effect which targets this card" effect.[1]
- The text "If this card is used as a Synchro Material Monster, all the other Synchro Material Monsters must be Fish-Type." of "Royal Swamp Eel" is not treated as an effect, so it cannot be negated by effects like that of "Superancient Deepsea King Coelacanth". Thus, if you are using "Royal Swamp Eel" as a Synchro Material Monster, then all the other Synchro Material Monsters must be Fish-Type monsters, even if "Royal Swamp Eel" was Special Summoned by the effect of "Superancient Deepsea King Coelacanth".[2]
Previously Official Rulings
These TCG rulings were issued by Upper Deck Entertainment and have since been declared unofficial by Konami.[3] They were previously considered official and can still be correct, as long as they follow the official gameplay rules, or unless Konami has issued a ruling that says otherwise. - "Superancient Deepsea King Coelacanth's" effect that negates card effects when it is targeted is a Quick Effect. This effect can be activated multiple times during the same turn and it can be activated during the Damage Step.
- When "Exiled Force's" effect targets "Superancient Deepsea King Coelacanth", "Exiled Force's" effect can be negated even though it is now in the Graveyard.
