* You can use this card's first effect by returning "Swords of Revealing Light", then replay it right after. If you continue this turn after turn, this creates a continuous attack lock for your opponent, making them unable to attack you unless they get rid of either "Cosmos Fortress Gol'Gar" or "Swords of Revealing Light".
+
* You can use "Snake Rain", ""A" Cell Recombination Device", "Mausoleum of White" or "Foolish Burial" to send a Level 4 "Alien" Monster(s) from your deck to your Graveyard and then Special Summon it with "Alien Ammonite". Alternatively, you could use "Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter" or "Card Trooper" to fill your Graveyard with "Aliens"; this method, although not as fast or specific, maintains better Card Advantage and overall utility through those monsters' other effects.

* This card works great in conjunction with ""A" Cell Incubator", regenerating the A-Counter used for its second effect instantly. You can either simply remove a counter from the Incubator to get a free destruction, or remove a counter from a monster you're going to destroy with the effect to gain one for use if the Incubator is destroyed later.
+
* You can use this card's first effect to endlessly recycle "Swords of Revealing Light", "Fiendish Chain", "Phantom Knights' Fog Blade", "Nightmare's Steelcage", "Big Bang Shot" (equip it to your opponent's monster), "Prohibition" (declaring a different card name each time), "Premature Burial" and similar cards like "Symbol of Heritage" and "Call of the Haunted" and other Continuous Trap Card pieces of revival.
 +
** Many other cards you can use are "Solidarity" and "Molting Escape". "Alien" cards include ""A" Cell Breeding Device", "Code A Ancient Ruins", "Mass Hypnosis" and "Brainwashing Beam".
 +
*** "Mass Hypnosis" is destroyed during the End Phase. If you return it to your hand during your Main Phase 2 you can use "Mass Hypnosis" multiple times to take control of your opponent's monsters to attack with.

* Return ""A" Cell Breeding Device", "Mass Hypnosis", or "Brainwashing Beam" to your hand for this card after spending their effects, allowing you to set or play them again for next turn.
+
* You can use this card's first effect to circumvent the drawbacks of cards like "Ancient Forest", "Gravity Bind" and "Chain Energy", among many others, and give them de facto one-sided effects.

* To bring this card into play quickly, you can activate "Snake Rain" or "Foolish Burial" to send a Level 4 Alien Monster to your Graveyard, then Special Summon that monster with "Alien Ammonite", giving you the required monsters to Synchro Summon right away.
+
* This card combos well with ""A" Cell Incubator": Incubator instantly regenerates the A-Counters removed for "Gol'gar's" destruction effect.
 +
** Combine this with "Code A Ancient Ruins" and you will be able to Special Summon "Alien"s from your Graveyard multiple times per turn.

* Since you can place the A-Counters from this card's effect on cards on your side of the field, you can use this to infinite refresh the A-Counters on a monster you took control of with "Brainwashing Beam" or "Alien Hypno".
+
* You can distribute the A-Counters generated by this card even among your own monsters. This tactic is particularly useful for replenishing the A-Counters on monsters you stole with "Brainwashing Beam" or "Alien Hypno", and for playing around Face-down monsters.

* This card can work well in a venom deck, each turn returning Venom Swamp, Damage = Reptile, etc.while also powering up Vennominon the King of Poisonous Snakes, Vennominaga the Deity of Poisonous Snakes, or Evil Dragon Ananta.
+
* Don't forget that unless you have "Alien Mars" or "Alien Psychic" on the field this card should not have any problem having A-Counters on itself. This allows A-Counters to build for its own effect or for other cards like "Code A Ancient Ruins" and "Alien Overlord" while your opponent has no face-up monsters.

* You can Set all Spell and Trap Cards in your hand and use its effect to return them all to your hand once per turn, distributing A-Counters for no cost.

* Use Chain Energy with this card, to make your opponent pay 500 lifepoints for every card they play from their hand while you return it to your hand on your turn so you don't have to pay anything. Also use Spell Absorption with this card to be capable of gaining large amounts of lifepoints every turn.

* Use Limit Reverse with this card. Limit Reverse is only destroyed when the monster is destroyed, so if you use the monster with Limit Reverse attached to it for a Synchro Summon or a tribute, it will stay on the field and you can return it to your hand with Cosmos Fortress Gol'Gar to reuse again and again. You can do the same thing with Escape from the Dark Dimension to retrieve your out of play dark monsters.

* Use this card with Stumbling, Level Limit - Area B, Fairy Box, Gravity Bind, Ordeal of a Traveler, or Messenger of Peace to prevent your opponent from attacking, and return it to your hand on your turn so that you can still attack.

* Use this card with Chain Burst and Curse of Darkness to limit the number of spell and trap cards your opponent can/will play and deal damage to them for the ones they do play. You can also use Royal Oppression to stop your opponent from special summoning on their turn, but keep in mind it will prevent you from special summing on your opponent's turn as well. Similarly, you can use Toll to make your opponent pay to attack, while you didn't have to.

* Gol'gar combos extremely well with Big Bang Shot. By equipping it to one of your opponent's monsters and then returning it to your hand, you can place 1 A-Counter on any monster you need to and remove the equipped monster from play. Since Big Bang Shot doesn't destroy that monster, this is a great way to work around your opponent's Stardust Dragon. If this nets you a clear shot, you can then equip Big Bang Shot to your own monster to increase the damage you deal, or if not, simply hold on to it for next turn.

* Using Metalmorph with this card would let you play it offensively on your turn and defensively on all your opponent's turns (because of the 300 point boost). Kunai with Chain can work in a similar fashion.

* A good equip spell card to use in combination with this card is Shooting Star Bow - Ceal, that way you don't have to keep the atk decrease. Also use Twin Swords of Flashing Light - Tryce and Forced Requisition with this card to make your opponent discard a card every turn.

  • You can use this card's first effect to circumvent the drawbacks of cards like "Ancient Forest", "Gravity Bind" and "Chain Energy", among many others, and give them de facto one-sided effects.
  • This card combos well with ""A" Cell Incubator": Incubator instantly regenerates the A-Counters removed for "Gol'gar's" destruction effect.
    • Combine this with "Code A Ancient Ruins" and you will be able to Special Summon "Alien"s from your Graveyard multiple times per turn.
  • You can distribute the A-Counters generated by this card even among your own monsters. This tactic is particularly useful for replenishing the A-Counters on monsters you stole with "Brainwashing Beam" or "Alien Hypno", and for playing around Face-down monsters.
  • Don't forget that unless you have "Alien Mars" or "Alien Psychic" on the field this card should not have any problem having A-Counters on itself. This allows A-Counters to build for its own effect or for other cards like "Code A Ancient Ruins" and "Alien Overlord" while your opponent has no face-up monsters.
