  • This card is featured on the artwork of "Xyz Veil".
  • The number, 17, can be seen on one of its horns.
  • The number, 17, may refer to it being the 17th Ghost Rare released.
  • This is the first Xyz Monster to be the cover card of a Booster Pack.
    • This is currently the only Xyz Monster to be the cover card of a Booster Pack.
  • This card is the first revealed member of the "Numbers" archetype.
  • This card having 3 pairs of wings and arms probably have some relation with its Xyz Material Monsters as this card uses 2 Level 3 Monsters.
  • After this card's ATK increase via its effect, it has 3000 ATK, the same as "Blue-Eyes White Dragon", "Armed Dragon LV10" and "Red Dragon Archfiend", which were the signature cards of the previous series rivals. Interestingly enough, all of these monsters are Dragon-Types.
    • However, unlike all the 3 above cards, "No. 17 Revise Dragon" is not a rival's signature card, due to it being used only for a single Duel before absorbed by Astral following its user's defeat. Also, all the 3 above cards has their original (printed) ATK as 3000, while "Number 17: Leviathan Dragon" needs its own effect to reach 3000 ATK.
  • In anime, when this card detaches an Xyz Material Monster, it eats the Xyz Material Monster.
  • This card's name comes from the mythical sea creature Leviathan, which explains this card's Attribute.
    • The other use of the name Leviathan is a book by Thomas Hobbes about the need for a strong central power in government to control the chaos of the masses. The cover art of this book depicts the "Leviathan" not as a sea monster, but a giant king whose body is made up of the subjects of the king who has gained their collective power, which is possibly referenced in this card's effect to use its Xyz Material Monsters to increase its attack.
  • This monster's horns resemble Ryoga Kamishiro's hair style, if Ryoga's head was viewed from above.
  • Numbers take the form of something their original owner desires, in the case of this card's owner, it is to be stronger and more powerful. This resulted in a Dragon-Type monster who can increase its own ATK. (Dragons usually focus on brute force.)
  • The initial form of this monster is a purple glowing orb wrapped in a purple body, with 6 scythe-like projections on top. It uncoils itself as the scythes turn into its wings, revealing the head and main body.
