• This monster is based on the planet Jupiter, the fifth planet in the Solar System.
  • This monster's name is derived from "grand", which is defined as something imposing in appearance, size, or style, referencing how Jupiter is the largest planet in the Solar System.

• The sphere in this monster's chest and its effect to equip an opponent's monster to it is similar to the gameplay of the "Sphere" archetype.
  • Fittingly, this monster's owner Aster Phoenix, used this card to defeat Atticus Rhodes, who uses the "Sphere" archetype in the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX manga.

• This is one of the few cards in the OCG whose Japanese name consists of only English alphabetical characters and punctuation, excluding furigana characters. The others are "Destiny HERO - Plasma", "Destiny End Dragoon", "Assault Revival", "NEX", "ZERO-MAX", and the other Legendary Planet cards (except "Elemental HERO Terra Firma").

• This monster shares similarities with "Destiny Hero - Plasma", a monster with a similar role used by Aster Phoenix in the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX anime.
  • Both monsters share the same Attribute (DARK), Level (8), and Type (Warrior).
  • Both monsters share an effect to equip an opponent's monster and gain ATK equal to that monster's ATK, which depicts them absorbing an opponent's monster. However, this card requires the player to discard two cards as a cost while "Plasma" can only equip 1 monster at a time.
  • Both monsters are created and designed by Aster Phoenix's father, Mr. Phoenix, which was stolen by him after he was murdered by an evil entity possessing a villain that kept in close contact with Aster. In this case, it was Tragoedia who possessed Principal MacKenzie, while in the case of "Plasma", it was the Light of Destruction who possessed The D.

• This monster is the polar opposite counterpart of its fellow Legendary Planet, "Elemental Hero Terra Firma".
  • Both monsters feature opposite color schemes and their respective planetary spheres in their artworks. This monster features a darker color scheme and the planet Jupiter inside its body, while "Terra Firma" features a white color scheme and features the planet Earth in the background of its artwork.
  • Both monsters feature completely opposite effects. While this monster can equip an opponent's monster allows its owner to forcefully gain an advantage, "Terra Firma" can willingly sacrifice an "Elemental HERO" monster to gain its ATK and an advantage.
  • Both monsters' respective owners in the manga are rivals with opposing personalities, with this monster being owned by Aster Phoenix, while "Terra Firma" is owned by Jaden Yuki. Additionally, each character uses a "HERO" Deck of a different playing style and having personalities at odds with one another, reinforcing the opposite concepts of this monster and "Terra Firma", despite both belonging to the Legendary Planet series.
  • Finally, this monster resembles the Thunder Megazord/Gosei Gattai Dairen'Oh from the Power Rangers/Super Sentai series (specifically the sphere on the body and the head), whereas Jaden's newest archetype are based on the Kamen Rider franchise.

• In the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX manga, this monster's attack name is "Great Red Spot", which is based on the red-colored anticyclonic storm on the planet Jupiter.
