Caswell Francis (Duel Generation)

Caswell Francis is a Duelist Construct of Caswell Francis from the Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL series in the Virtual Dueling System. He is the first opponent that the player is introduced and faced in the beginning of the ZEXAL Campaign mode Stage 13-1 in Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Generation. The player has to defeat him in a Duel in order to unlock the next stage and progress Campaign mode.

AppearanceEdit

As a Duelist Construct, his appearance is based on Caswell Francis, and the outfit is what he wore during his time at Heartland Academy in the Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL anime series. In Heartland Academy, there are three uniforms that the student can wears and these uniforms are assigned to the students based on their academic years. Caswell is wearing a white uniform with a red-lined sleeves and collar and around his neck is a red necktie with a white tie clip as a knot which indicate that he is a first year student at the academy.

Besides the outfit, Caswell is also wearing a Duel Gazer over his left eye, and this device allows him to see and watch the augmented reality setting of a Duel.

EtymologyEdit

His given name "Caswell" comes from the Old English surname Caswell, and its meaning is separate into two parts. The first part "cas" comes from the Old English word cærse which means "(water)cress" while the second part "well" comes from the Old English word "well(a)" meaning "spring" or "stream".

His surname "Francis" comes from the name Francesco which means "Frenchman", and this meaning is referring to the Germanic peoples who were known as Franks. Also, his surname "Francis" might have actually comes from the water turbine known as Francis turbine, and this implication goes nicely along with the meaning behind his given name "Caswell". A Francis turbine is a type of water turbine that was developed by James B. Francis to generate electricity by using water machinery.

RewardsEdit

There are a total of six rewards that the player can earn and received after defeating the Duel Construct in a Duel. The first two rewards are cards that come from the Duel Construct's Deck and the third reward is a recipe for their Deck. Then the fourth, fifth and sixth rewards repeated the same process of the three earlier rewards, but in a harder difficulty with a different Deck. In addition, the sixth reward will allow the player to have the Duel Construct's avatar and the ability to Duel them anytime between the two difficulty.
