Continuous Effect

Continuous Monster Effects (Japanese: 永続効果 Eizoku Kōka) are a type of monster effect that is active as long as the monster is face-up on the field (although some don't have any effect until certain requirements are met), and don't disappear until the monster is no longer face-up on the field. These effects do not start a Chain.

"Jinzo" and "Starduston" are two such cards with Continuous Effects. Since Continuous Monster Effects do not start a Chain, they cannot be negated by cards that can only respond to the activation of effects, such as "Divine Wrath" and "Doomcaliber Knight". However, they can be negated by other effects that negate monster effects without needing to respond to an activation (such as "Skill Drain" and "Effect Veiler").

Some Continuous Monster Effects only have an effect when specific requirements are met, rather than being applied as long as the monster is face-up on the field. "Bountiful Artemis", "Ancient Gear Golem", and "Steamroid" are cards with this kind of Continuous Effect.

Continuous effects are now much easier defined upon the release of problem solving text in Generation Force. A continuous effect will now not have a colon or semicolon in the effect, whereas Trigger Effects and Ignition Effects will.
