• This card's strongest Union Monster is "Kiryu". While equipped with "Kiryu" this card's ATK is 2700 and its DEF is 2400.
  • Even though you can tribute "Kiryu" to have "Dark Blade" attack directly, since he's a Level 4 DARK Monster you can use "Shadow Delver" to allow him to attack directly every turn and keep his 2700 ATK.

• While this card is equipped with "Pitch-Dark Dragon" it can use "Curse of Anubis" to great effect. It's still a Normal Monster so it won't switch to Defense Position and "Pitch-Dark Dragon" gives it a piercing effect so it can take advantage of the opponent's 0 DEF Effect Monsters.

• His Normal Monster status allows him to use a lot of cards Effect Monsters can't. You can Special Summon him from the Graveyard with "Knight of the Red Lotus", "Birthright", "Silent Doom" and "Soul Resurrection". You can Special Summon him from your hand with "Faustian Bargain" and "Two-Man Cell Battle". If he's on the field you can use him with "Non-Spellcasting Area", "Secrets of the Gallant", "Justi-Break" and "Amulet of Ambition".
  • The Amulet especially gives him the ability to take out most naturally stronger monsters ("Monarchs", Synchros, etc.), but some monsters have a higher ATK-to-Level ratio ("Thunder King Rai-Oh", "Volcanic Rocket", "Goblin Attack Force", etc.). However, if this card is equipped with "Kiryu" his ATK-to-Level ratio is higher than that of any other monster. The highest natural ATK-to-Level ratio is "Giant Kozaky" at 2500-4, the highest playable one is "Chainsaw Insect" at 2400-4.
  • "Secrets of the Gallant" is also more effective with this card than with other Normal Monsters because both of his Union Monsters specialize in enabling him to inflict damage to the opponent one way or another.
