• In the anime, this card is depicted as being summoned directly in front of the opponent's Duel Runner, preventing the opponent from speeding up.
• "Gate Blocker" is considered to be the one of the standard arsenal of cards that "Sector Security" uses to apprehend criminal duelists on the run.
• In episode 2, this card is shown when Tetsu Trudge is shown looking through his new Special Pursuit Deck (which was given to him by the Security chief).
• In episode 3, Trudge uses this card during his Turbo Duel against Yusei Fudo. He summons this card on the first turn of the Duel. Because this card was face-up on the field, Yusei was forbidden from gaining any Speed Counters from the effect of "Speed World". Later "Speed Warrior" (whose ATK was 1800 due to its own effect) attacks this card. The attack fails, but Yusei activates the effect of "Turbo Booster" to destroy this card. Trudge then activates "Broken Blocker" to Special Summon two more copies. This kept this card's effect active on the field. Later Trudge tunes one copy with "Jutte Fighter" in order to Synchro Summon "Goyo Guardian". After "Nitro Warrior" (whose ATK was 3800 due to its own effect) attacks and destroys "Goyo Guardian", Yusei activates the second effect of "Nitro Warrior" to switch this card to Attack Position and let "Nitro Warrior" attack it. "Nitro Warrior" then attacks and destroys this card, winning Yusei the duel.
• In episode 30, a Sector Security officer uses this card during his Turbo Duel against Crow Hogan. He summons this card on the first turn of the Duel. Because this card was face-up on the field, Crow was forbidden from gaining any Speed Counters from the effect of "Speed World". Later Crow activates the effect of "Blackwing - Gale the Whirlwind" to halve this card's ATK and DEF until the End Phase. After Crpw activates the effect of "Blackwing - Sirocco the Dawn" to make "Blackwing - Bora the Spear" gain ATK equal to the total ATK of all other face-up Blackwings until the End Phase, "Bora the Spear" attacks and destroys this card. "Bora the Spear" then inflicts piercing damage to the officer, winning Crow the Duel.
• In episode 31, a Sector Security officer uses this card during his Tag Turbo Duel with another Sector Security officer against Crow and Yusei. He Normal Summons this card on the first turn of the Duel. He then Tributes this card in order to Special Summon "Gate Blocker 2".

• This monster appears alongside "Gate Blocker 2" in Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's World Championship 2011: Over the Nexus, but not as cards but obstacles in Duel Runner races in the game. Attacking and destroying said obstacles will yield items that can be picked up.
