"Elemental HERO" (Japanese: E・HERO Erementaru Hīrō) is a "HERO" sub-archetype of mostly monstersWarrior monsters used by both Jaden Yuki and Aster Phoenix (for a period of time until the latter changed to the "Destiny HEROes" archetype) in the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX anime. The former also used this archetype, along with his mentor Koyo Hibiki, in the mangaYu-Gi-Oh! GX manga. All members of this sub-archetype They are used by Mask monsters, except for in the PlantYu-Gi-Oh! D Team ZEXAL "Elemental HERO Knospe" and "Elemental HERO Poison Rose"; the Pyro "Elemental HERO Heat", "Elemental HERO Inferno" and "Elemental HERO Lady Heat"; and the Thunder "Elemental HERO Voltic"manga. They were designed by Kazuki Takahashi, and are themed after based on comic-book superheroes from in the anime and are based off on natural elements in the manga. "Elemental HERO" Decks focus heavily on Fusion Summoning. Most of these fall into two primary "Elemental HERO" monsters categories that can be fused with one another. : Normal Monsters Monsters from the TV series anime (Named Materials monsters that are specifically required as materials for Fusion SummoningSummons) and the manga counterparts that are retrained versions with also have effects (Fusion Materials are generic). See 'Grouping' section for more information. ==Grouping=="while the Avian", "Burstinatrix", "Clayman" and "Bubbleman" are often grouped together because there is at least one Fusion Monster for each pair of them (except "Avian" and "Clayman"), as well as "Elemental HERO Electrum" using all 4 as s require generic Fusion Materials. "Bladedge", "Wildheart", and "Necroshade" are often grouped together because there is at least one Fusion Monster for each pair of them (except "Bladedge" and "Necroshade"). "Sparkman" was introduced very early on and is usually on cards like "Fifth Hope" and "HERO's Bond". "Sparkman" has the most fusions of any Elemental HERO, other than "Neos", with a grand total of 6 ("Thunder Giant", "Tempest", "Shining Flare Wingman", "Shining Phoenix Enforcer", "Plasma Vice", and "Darkbright"). "Elemental HERO Neos" is instead seen as having his own support often grouped with the "Neo-Spacians". The manga "Elemental HERO" monsters (unoffically called "Omni Heroes") are also grouped together since they don't have fusions with the anime "Elemental HERO" monsters. These include "Ocean", "Woodsman", "Heat", and "Lady Heat". Lastly, "Stratos", "Shadow Mist" and "Blazeman" are considered a group of their own due to their superiority over others.
Design
The "Elemental HEROes' designs HERO" monsters are based after the western comics' heroes. In the Japanese version, their nomenclature is "Elemental HERO (term related to its element) "man" (for and as the masculine heroesname implies, with the exceptions they each represent an aspect of "Prisma" and every "Neos")nature. The This goes beyond only feminine heroes are representing classical elements like earth, fire or water; "BurstinatrixWildheart", "Lady Heat"for example, "represents the wilderness. Their Poison RoseFusion Monster" and "s typically combine the aspects from their Shadow MistFusion Material" (the first two having "Lady" instead of "Man" in their Japanese name). Some of the names are changed in the English version. As the name says, the "Elemental HEROes" each represent an element of nature. In western culture, the main elements are fire, water, air, earth, light and darkness, but in eastern culture, more elements are considered, such as lightning, wood, metal and ice, though ice is many times not considered since it's part of "water".
The In the OCG, all of the Main Deck monsters introduced in the anime, except "Elemental HERO Neos" and "Prisma", follow the naming scheme "Elemental HERO [Term related to its element] Man" (or "Lady", in the case of "Elemental HERO Burstinatrix" aka "Burst Lady"). In the manga , only "Elemental HERO Woodsman" ("Forestman" in the OCG) and "Stratos" ("Airman" in the OCG) follow the scheme while others like "Ice Edge" or "Heat" do not. "Elemental HERO Captain Gold" is unique to the OCG/TCG and doesn't follow the same theme as the animenaming scheme, but the heroes are still based around those same elementslater cards like "Blazeman", "Solid Soldier" ("Solidman") and "Liquid Soldier" ("Liquidman") do.

Playing style
The "Elemental HERO" decks mainly archetype has many Main Deck monsters and Extra Deck Fusion Monsters, each with their own varied effects. Historically, the archetype can be built to focus on swarming their Main Deck monsters or their Fusion Monsters; currently, the field with Main Deck "Elemental HERO" monsters are too weak in contrast to the general power level of the game, and later "Elemental HERO" support leaned into their Fusion Summoning playstyle more favorably. The pure "Elemental HERO" playstyle aims to Fusion Summon their Extra Deck Fusion boss monsters by searching out their required Fusion Materials and "Polymerization"/"Fusion" Spell Cardsas quickly as possible. This can be done through a combination of specific "Elemental HERO" support cards (e.g. "A Hero Lives" and "E - Emergency Call"), generic "HERO" support cards (e.g. "Elemental HERO Stratos", "Elemental HERO Shadow Mist" and "Vision HERO Vyon"), using and non-archetypal Warrior support cards like (e.g. "Reinforcement of the Army"). The "Elemental HERO" Fusion Monsters typically have battle-focused effects with little defensive capabilities. Most "Elemental HERO" Fusion Monsters also require Fusion Materials with specific names, but some of them have more generic materials, thus are much easier to summon. The 6 most notable ones are "Elemental HERO Great Tornado", "Nova Master", "The Shining", "Escuridao", "Absolute Zero", and "Gaia", which require 1 "Elemental HERO" monster and a monster with a specific Attribute as their materials, making them useful choices to summon with "Super Polymerization" by using an opponent's monster as material. Among these 6, "Escuridao" and "Absolute Zero" are the most commonly used, because "Escuridao's" DARK Attribute is ubiquitous when mixed with other "HERO" monsters, and "Absolute Zero" has a very strong effect, and also only requires a "HERO" monster rather than an "Elemental HERO" monster as its material, making it even easier to Summon in a general "HERO" Deck. Following behind are "Elemental HERO Sunrise" and "Elemental HERO Flame Wingman - Infernal Rage" whose materials can make use of the varying Attributes of "Elemental HERO" monsters and they both have effects to search out yet another card that can Summon another "Elemental HERO" Fusion Monster ("Miracle Fusion"and "Favorite Contact"). For "Wake Up Your Elemental HERO" is the archetype's powerhouse that requires any number of Warrior monsters and an "Elemental HERO" Fusion Monsters Monster, which can easily use close out games with specified names, its powerful attacks and can float into any Warrior monster from the Deck upon its destruction. An "Elemental HERO" Deck can consider running "King of the Swamp" and other Fusion Substitute Monsters are very usefulfor "Elemental HERO" Fusion Monsters with specified materials. They   ===With "Neos" and "Neo-Spacian"=== While "Elemental HERO BubblemanNeos" is featured as main piece of the "Neo-Spacian" and "A Hero LivesNeos" archetypes that usually uses Contact Fusionor other effects to Special Summon the Fusion Monsters that mention "Elemental HERO Neos" as material, this mainly differs from the traditional Fusion Summon playstyle of "Elemental HERO" in general. Over time however, the "Instant Neos"/"Neo-Spacian" theme has been integrated with the traditional "Elemental HERO" FusionSummon playstyle by the introduction of newer support. These include: "Cross Keeper" can also be used to summon , the "EN" cards ("Elder Entity NordenEN - Engage Neo Space and a level 4 WATER monster", then Xyz Summoning "Bahamut SharkEN Shuffle" and using it's effect to summon "Toadally AwesomeEN Wave". Lastly, they can ) and new "Elemental HERO" Fusion Monsters that must be used Fusion Summoned such as a bridge to the "Masked Elemental HERO Brave Neos", "Elemental HERO Neos Knight" and "Elemental HEROShining Neos Wingmanes". In particular, "Elemental HERO Flame Wingman - Infernal Rage" facilitates the Summon of "Elemental HERO Shining Neos Wingman" by searching "Favorite Contact" which can Summon "Neos Wingman" during the opponent's turn to disrupt the opponent.
As "Elemental HERO Spirit of Neos" can search "Polymerization" or a Spell/Trap that mentions an "Elemental HERO" monster upon its Special Summon, which facilitates easier use of the niche classic "Elemental HERO" support. Then it can tag itself out with an "Elemental HERO" Normal Monster from the release of Deck. These effects in tandem grant easy access to use the "Omni HEROsElemental HERO" Normal Monsters-oriented cards (Attribute-specifc Fusion Monsters), as well as like the 2 Extra Deck "Vision HEROCounter Trap Cards ("Vision Hero AdorationFeather Wind and ", which negates the activation of a Spell/Trap Card with "Vision Elemental HERO TrinityAvian"), all though it will usually search most of the "Elemental HEROsHERO Neos" can be fused together with each other, as well as other -oriented cards or "HEROsProtection of the Elements". The "Omni HEROs" basically allow (another Counter Trap Card which can negate the activation of a Spell/Trap Card by using any "Elemental HEROsHERO" monster for its activation requirements as opposed to exist in any deck focused on an archetype of monsters with the same Attribute, and each Attribute allows these "Elemental HEROsFeather Wind" access to Attribute-specific support cards, such as requiring "SalvageElemental HERO Avian"specifically).
Perhaps ===Other "HERO" support===Within the entire "HERO" meta-archetype, the best part of an "Elemental HERO" deck archetypal playstyle is strongly supported by the search/recovery power. Cards like "SalvageVision HERO", combo ("Shadow MistFaris", "BlazemanIncrease", "Vyon", ) since "Vyon" can search out "Polymerization"and can Fusion Recoverysend", Elemental HERO Shadow Mist"to the GY to search out more needed "Elemental HERO " monsters. The Shining"Vision HERO" Fusion Monster"s, "Adoration" and "Trinity can be used ", are also good options for an "Elemental HERO" Deck to run due to go into many plusestheir generic Fusion Materials of just any "HERO" monsters.
The "Xtra HERO" Link Monsters provide many helpful benefits to the "Elemental HEROesHERO" somewhat lack protection, as they are mostly offensiveplaystyle. "Infernal Devicer" can directly search out up to 2 listed Fusion Materials on a "HERO" is useful hereFusion Monster, making it most strongly support the "Elemental HERO" and can cause an easy OTK by comboeing it "Evil HERO" playstyle of Fusion Summoning monsters with specific materials. "Wonder Driver"can recover "Polymerization" and "Fusion" Spell Cards, making it useful for longer combos or grind games.
There is ===How "Elemental HERO" supports other "HERO" sub-archetypes===On the other side, the "Elemental HERO" archetype (specifically, a great few individual members) are vital combo using pieces to the overall "Mask ChangeHERO, " meta-archetype playstyle. The most important "Elemental HERO" monster with regards to the entire "HERO" archetype is "Elemental HERO Absolute ZeroStratos", a non-once-per-turn searcher for all "HERO" monsters and the ideal choice for "Masked HERO AcidA Hero Lives". First fuse any "Elemental HEROShadow Mist monster and " is a Water Attribute monster with once-per-turn searcher for all "HERO" monsters when Polymerizationsent, or any card that can fuse monsters, to get the GY (usually by "[Elemental [Vision HERO Absolute ZeroVyon]]. Use "), but it is also a searcher for "Mask Change to send " Spell Cards, which enables the Elemental HERO Absolute ZeroSpecial Summon back to of the Graveyard and summon powerful "Masked HERO Acid, remember that when " monsters (most notably "Dark Law is removed from the field, it destroys all of your opponent's monsters, " and "Acid's effect says that when it is summoned ", usually Summoned by using "Absolute Zero" to perform a board wipe); the field, all variety of your opponent's Spells/Traps are destroyed, effectively clearing your opponent's field. This combo works perfectly because Attributes the "Elemental HERO" monsters have makes them ideal for summoning "Masked HERO Acid" monsters with "Mask Change" or "Mask Change II only needs a Water Attribute monster like " (while the Levels of "Masked HERO" Fusion Monsters align with those of "Elemental HERO" Fusion Monsters for "Elemental HERO Absolute ZeroForm Change and "), making "Masked HERO" monsters good options even in a pure "Elemental HERO" build. In return, "Masked HERO" monsters themselves can be fused together for "HERO Chaos " for its useful Quick Effect to negate a card to be Summoned's effects on the field.
Lastly"Elemental HERO Solid Soldier" and "Liquid Soldier" are good monsters to Normal Summon, due as they can Special Summon needed "HERO" monsters (usually "Shadow Mist" to their high recovery search for "Mask Change") and /or provide useful advantage after being used for a Fusion Summon (reviving a "HERO" monster from the GY via "Solid Soldier" or allows drawing of 2 cards + a discard with "Liquid Soldier"). Lastly, "Honest Neos"is an ATK-booster for all "HERO" monsters, and "Sunrise" won't is a Fusion Monster with generic "HERO" Fusion Materials that can search out "Miracle Fusion", a powerful Fusion Spell Card that can use monsters in the GY as Fusion Materials, allowing a Fusion Summon with zero card loss to the field advantage. "Wake Up Your Elemental HERO" requires an "Elemental HERO" Fusion Monster and any number of Warrior monsters (ie. the vast majority of the "HERO" archetype) which can be stopped by disabling used to close out games with its high ATK and its attacking-oriented effects, or be destroyed to Special Summons Summon another "HERO" monster from the Deck. Most "Evil HERO" Fusion Monsters also require specific "Elemental HERO" monsters as their non-Fusion Monsters Materials, which can stand on their own until Special Summoning is allowed againbe aided with the aforementioned "Xtra HERO Infernal Devicer".

Classic
This Deck list focuses on the playstyle of "Elemental HERO" Fusion Monsters that require specific Fusion Materials featured prominently in the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX anime. While it is outclassed by the current power level of the game, this playstyle still received various modern pieces of support, namely "Xtra HERO Infernal Devicer" and greatly benefits from the "Vision HERO" engine involving "Vision HERO Faris", "Vision HERO Increase" and "Vision HERO Vyon". After searching "Polymerization" with "Vyon", both itself and "Increase" can be used to Link Summon "Xtra HERO Infernal Devicer" which help easily search the pair of Fusion Materials needed. Alternatively, one could use the searched "Polymerization" instead to Fusion Summon more generic choices, more notably "Elemental HERO Sunrise" or "Elemental HERO Flame Wingman - Infernal Rage" which can search cards to Summon yet another "Elemental HERO" Fusion Monster from the Extra Deck.

Weaknesses
* "Elemental HERO" Decks monsters often lack protection on , and as such the player can often easily have their ownfield cleared by mass destruction cards and effects like "Dark Hole", "Raigeki" and need generic protection cards outside of the archetype"Evenly Matched".* Unless you're using Pure "Masked HEROesElemental HERO", they monsters have very little Quick-Play weak disruption and Trap Cards to useoppression power, so they are unable having little ability to disrupt or prevent the opponent's plays, save for "Honest Neos" and "Absolute Zero".* "Gozen Match" is particularly annoying can significantly disrupt a pure "Elemental HERO" Deck due to their many Attributesvariety of Attributes.* FinallyAs all "Elemental HERO" non-Contact Fusion Monsters cannot be Special Summoned in other ways than Fusion Summon, cards like "Skill DrainNon-Fusion Area" and/or "Angel O7Dimensional Barrier" can cease and desist prevent these Fusion Monsters from being Summoned easily. Furthermore, cards like "HERONekroz of Unicore" can have their effects, which would be significant against these Decks because without substantial Spell/Trap support, many of the negated.* As "Elemental HERO" monstersare mostly Warrior-Type, including quite a number of cards such as "HEROCipher Soldier" Fusion Monsters, do not possess significant sustainability stat-wise whilst on the "Warrior Elimination" and "fieldThere Can Be Only One" can pose as a threat to such decks.Archseries navbox
