Fonda Fontaine, known in Japan as Emi Ayukawa, is the head of the female Obelisk Blue dormitory at Duel Academy. In addition, she's the gym instructor as well as the school's head nurse.

Biography

Mostly, Fonda is seen taking care of teachers and students whenever they are injured and doesn’t plays a large role until the third year. When Duel Academy is transported into the desert, Fonda is transformed into one of Marcel's Duel Ghouls upon trying to protect the sick and injured Blair Flannigan from the onslaught of zombified students trying to get into the infirmary. She duels against Jaden Yuki and ultimately loses. It is implied she turns back to normal like the rest of the people who were zombified after Duel Academy is returned to its proper place from an alternate dimension. Though she does not appear as much in the fourth season it is assumed that she along with the rest of world was pulled into the World of Darkness and later revived when Jaden defeats Nightshroud.

In the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX manga, Fonda appears to be the Nurse of Duel Academy just like her anime counterpart. Fonda appears after the duel between Chazz Princeton and David Rabb. She is seen along with Midori Hibiki checking the status of David and speculates that he is unconscious because of dark magic, comparing the incident to Joey Wheeler's collapse during the Battle City Finals, which by that time is a well-known event.

Fonda plays an Anti-Cure Deck which focuses on the reversal of Life Points recovery into Direct Damage through the ability of "Nurse Reficule the Fallen One". She uses cards such as "Dark Cure" and "Burning Algae" to forcefully increase her opponents' Life Points for this purpose, while protecting her main monster from being destroyed easily in battle with "Brutal Potion".

Her combination of "Nurse Reficule the Fallen One", "Dark Cure" and "Brutal Potion" were released in the TCG/OCG as promotional cards with Yu-Gi-Oh! GX Tag Force Evolution.

In Yu-Gi-Oh! GX Duel Academy she plays a Harpie Deck while in the Tag Force she plays a Cutie Deck. In later Tag Force installments her Deck matches the anti-cure theme she uses in the anime.
