Forum:Jack Atlas/Rua/Ruka

This is official linework that Takahashi made for 5D's, showing that the character's names are in fact "Jack Atlas", "Rua" and "Ruka" (and as a sidenode, "Aki Izayo"). Considering that the anime's animators have been proven time and again to be seriously English-impaired, I think the articles should be moved to those locations. Besides, "Jack Atlas" is his name in the dub anyway. Danny Lilithborne 02:37, 31 July 2008 (UTC)

  • Hn. Interesting find. The problem is, then, that this is only one model sheet, whereas the show itself consistently uses "Atlus", "Lua", and "Luca", in more than one place each. And that's definitely Izayoi. Rodtheanimegod4ever 03:10, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
    • It also consistently uses "Fortun Cup". A consistent error is still an error, and I'm pretty sure the creator of the show trumps the animators. Danny Lilithborne 03:31, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
    • As a side note, it is "Izayoi", I just forgot to enlarge the image. Stupid resizing browser. Danny Lilithborne 03:33, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
      • Is there any particular reason you're so adamant about this? And where is "Fortun" Cup used? Rodtheanimegod4ever 03:48, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
        • On the invitations. And I'm not really adamant about it. I just believe they're the right names and wanted to provide evidence of such. Danny Lilithborne 06:39, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
  • It does actually sound more like they call him Atlas in the dub. The lineart looks like proof enough to me. I'm in favour of moving the pages. -- Deltaneos (talk) 11:52, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
  • Could this mean they messed up when they spelled "Jonouchi", "Jyonouchi" in the Japanese anime? -- Deltaneos (talk) 11:55, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
    • Possibly, but Jyonouchi is a valid transliteration of his name. Danny Lilithborne 13:07, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
  • Seeing as the twins English names are clearly based on Lua and Luca, are we to treat Rua and Ruka or Lua and Luca as their main Japanese names? -- Deltaneos (talk) 17:53, 6 October 2008 (UTC)
    • Well, I'd think Rua and Ruka, since they've changed their names to that in later episodes. Yu-Gi-Oh Rules! 20:22, 15 October 2008 (UTC)
      • What makes you say that? -- Deltaneos (talk) 20:31, 15 October 2008 (UTC)

Im pretty sure that the kanji for joey's name cant be read as "jyonouchi", it can only be read (based on japanese language) as "Jounouchi". Shoukatsuryou 06:01, 2 March 2009 (UTC)

    • No, "Jyo" is valid. じょ has the small "yo" letter and so older romanizations write it as "Jyo", although it's not really pronounced that way. Danny Lilithborne 07:03, 2 March 2009 (UTC)
