Forum:Photonize to lumenize

i wonder how come "Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon" is okay, but "Photonize" gets changed to "Lumenize". they both have same kanji and the furigana/hiragana (idk) of "Photon". is it because "ize" part? --70.79.73.202 (talk) 01:05, October 7, 2011 (UTC)

Same could be asked why was Kibo O Hope was changed to Lametopia, Ribaisu was changed to leviathan and not leviath and Baby Toragon to tiragon. Konami USA loves to change the names for no apparent reason and make things some lame and unfortunately Photonize got hit with the lame-american renaming stick.64.20.45.178 (talk) 05:06, October 7, 2011 (UTC)

• Because it sounds better. Simple as. Konami's job is to adapt, but also change to make things sound less awkward in English compared to their very awkward names in Japanese. Utopia was a great name change from the awkward Japanese name which essentially translated to "King of Hope - Hope." Utopia was a horrible name change, utopia is for a place not a person and HOPE is clearly not a place is it? lametopia is a lousy name change end of.

• Utopia is an "An imagined place or state of things in which everything is perfect." It doesn't have to be a place. Utopia's English name is clearly a metaphor for what people have "hope" for, so it works nicely, and sounds a lot better than boring old "Hope."--YamiWheeler (talk • contribs) 15:41, October 7, 2011 (UTC)

to an american lametopia may sound better but to the real world it sounds lame and ALOT of people prefer hope to lametopia.

Meh, hope always rule over lametopia. Someone just can't face facts.

Granted, Photons have no support for each other right now, but later, if a card has an effect, such as "Remove from play 1 'Photon' card from your graveyard or something like that, then Konami would have to put 'Photon' card or 'Lumenize'. Let's be fair here. Some name changes are okay (Earthbound Immortals sound a little more badass than Earthbound Gods, Mind Haxorz is outright hilarious in a good way), some aren't (Des, Koa'ki Meiru, etc). Though for the redundant name for Hope, I'd personally have preferred it if they just used "King of Hope", much like how they abridged No Entry!!'s Japanese name. Well, there actually is a difference with the Kana: "Lumenize" uses フォトナイズ, while "Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon" uses フォトン for photon as Kana, so there is the difference of ナ and ン right after the フォト (Foto), either Fo-to-na-i-zu or Fo-to-n. --Bhigpx (talk • contribs) 15:31, October 7, 2011 (UTC)
