# Newest Errata (lore)

# English (if not available, then Japanese)

# Clearest image

# Avoid Ultimate Rares and Ghost Rares

# If it's an anime only card, clearest screenshot, but if a Tag Force image is available, we use that.

# If it's a manga only card, clearest image.

From observations, the preferred card image we use goes in that order. But what about alternate artworks, etc? Does anyone have more to add to the list? -Falzar FZ- (talk page|useful stuff) 00:22, January 24, 2011 (UTC)

As far as alternate artworks are concerned, they should only be used on the card's page if they are easier to see, or for some reason easier to get a good scan of than the original card. I don't know if this is the case for any cards, however, if it happens to be, then it makes sense to go with the clearest image, regardless of which artwork it is. :Also, relating to card clarity, making sure that the picture is a scan could be a requirement. There are at least a few cases when card images, like these three cards are pictures that were taken of the cards, in cases. Just a thought.

:Also, there are (as far as I've seen) at least two different placeholder images (one of an anime character holding a card backwards, one of a scan of the back of a card) used when a card's image is unavailable. Should one of them be made the standard one to use? Or should there be one for manga cards without images, one for anime cards without images, and one for OCG/TCG cards without images? I think it would seem a little... neater I guess if they were uniform. Jon Kovacs (talk • contribs) 03:22, January 26, 2011 (UTC)

:: Unlike 'newest errata' (which can affect gameplay and rulings), there isn't a decisive reason to use the newest artwork, nor have I seen a Project page which says which to use.

:: Those would be photos of the card, which were then rotated in Photoshop. If someone has a clearer photo or a scan of them, they could use the 'Upload a new version of this file' option on the image page. Photos seem to be acceptable if a scan is not available.

:: The one where someone is holding the card backwards is for a manga card, the card backing is for the anime, TCG or OCG, depending on where the card can be found. -Falzar FZ- (talk page|useful stuff) 07:03, January 26, 2011 (UTC)

:::CardTable2 uses any of several card backing placeholder images, depending on what game/medium the card is from - these placeholder images (and several other card backings) can be found in :Category:Card Backings.

:::For OCG/TCG cards, the preferred image is the most recently-released English card (or, if the card hasn't been released in English, the most recently-released Japanese card), though I don't know if this is actually documented on any policy page. There is no "official" preference for card edition (1st vs. Unlimited Edition) or rarity AFAIK, though it would be good to decide on that.

:::I, personally, don't know of any case where more than one artwork version of the same card was released in the same set; the entire "Alternate Artwork" thing, at least in regards to card images themselves, seems to be several years outdated, in my experience.

:::On a more general note, according to the image policy, card images are preferred to be 400x580 PNG images (it doesn't say anything on scans vs. photos). 「ダイノガイ千?!」? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 19:23, January 26, 2011 (UTC)

:::: I still think that clearest image should be considered over the 1st-Unlimited and newer set image; and that 1st-Unlimited and newer set image is trivial. Are there any advantages for using the newer set images? -Falzar FZ- (talk page|useful stuff) 00:33, January 27, 2011 (UTC)
