"Tenyi VS Simorgh" (天（てん）威（い）ＶＳ（バーサス）シムルグ Ten'i Bāsasu Shimurugu) is the second chapter of the Yu-Gi-Oh! OCG Structures manga. It was first published July 20, 2019, in the V Jump magazine.

Shoma continues his Duel against Strong Jukyu, promising to bring down his opponent's powerful field in a single turn.

Summary

Continuing the Duel in progress, Shoma Yusa has just declared that during this turn, he will break through Jukyu's "God Strong Wind" combo. Des, watching the Duel in progress, wants to believe that Shoma's just bluffing, but doesn't think he's the type to do so. Jukyu is confused at how he plans to do this, but realizes that he didn't read the effects of the "Tenyi" monsters during Deck construction, so he doesn't have any idea what they do. Nevertheless, he still believes that between the lock-down of Spells and Traps caused by his "Simorgh" monsters, as well as the free negation of any activated effect from "Mist Valley Apex Avian", Shoma still won't be able to overcome.

However, Shoma shows that he doesn't need to rely on high-ATK monsters or Spells/Traps to win. With clever use of the cards he has and their effects on the field and in the Graveyard, he soon rids the field of the "God Strong Wind" monsters, even taking heavy damage to his LP doing so.

Des is impressed with how Shoma, the unassuming Duelist from nowhere, has turned the Duel around so swiftly. However, she knows that Jukyu's reputation as one of the Four Elementary School Duel Kings is well-earned. Sure enough, Strong plants his feet and begins his turn. He declares that no matter what, his "Simorgh" will always take to the sky again and again, and in no time at all, he has reconstructed his "God Strong Wind" combo from nothing.

Jukyu knows that Shoma has more of his powerful "Tenyi" monsters waiting to trap him, but he has no true way to counter them. But the best defense is a good offense, he says - that's how Jukyu Goriki duels. He attacks despite the risks, and in no time at all, even during Jukyu's Battle Phase, Shoma uses his monsters to once again break Jukyu's combo, leaving him only with "Simorgh of Darkness". He laments that despite his combo, he ended up only going card-to-card with Shoma in the end.

Shoma begins his turn by once again using his monsters' effects to destroy Jukyu's remaining monster. He then reveals the cards he chose during Deck construction earlier to make up for his lack of certain "Tenyi" cards: the "Yang Zing", chosen due to the "Tenyi" possessing not only Wyrm support, but a Tuner without a Synchro Monster (thankfully for Shoma, one such card would be released later that year). With the "Tenyi" and the "Yang Zing" by his side, Shoma swiftly amasses the monsters he needs to reduce Jukyu's LP to 0, winning him the first Duel of the event.

Jukyu is sent flying back from his defeat, not because of the Virtual Solid Vision used by their Duel Disks, but due to a penchant for theatrics. In truth, despite his defeat, he is thrilled at having found a good opponent in Shoma, and challenges Shoma to a more casual match on the spot. Shoma accepts the challenge, only to be reminded by Des that they would have to continue this on their own time, as there is still an event happening, and they have two more Duels to play.

The Rising Rampage Deck Construction event ends, with Shoma having won all three of his Duels with the Deck he built. Des notes that for a Duelist who's lacked an opponent for three years, Shoma handled himself very well. Shoma makes good on his promise and stays at the Satellite Shop, playing with "Strong" Jukyu Goriki, his first friend in Tokyo, until well past nightfall. So ends Shoma Yusa's first day in the big city.

...Of course, he never told his sister Ageha that he'd left, nor that he'd be staying so late. The poor teenager has no idea the sort of lecture he has waiting for him when he gets home.

Featured Duel: Shoma Yusa vs Strong Jukyu

Duel continues from the previous Chapter.

Both players have 8000 LP. Strong Jukyu controls "Simorgh, Lord of the Storms" (3200/2300), "Simorgh of Darkness" (3200/2300), and "Mist Valley Apex Avian" (3000/2300) in Attack Position, as well as "Simorgh, Bird of Calamity" (1800/500) in Defense Position and "Elborz, the Sacred Lands of Simorgh" in his Field Zone. Shoma controls "Monk of the Tenyi" (1000/↓). It is Shoma's turn.

Turn 2: Shoma Yusa
Since he controls a non-Effect Monster, Shoma activates the second effect of "Tenyi Spirit - Vishuda" in his Graveyard, banishing it to return Jukyu's "Mist Valley Apex Avian" to his hand. Next, since he controls no Effect Monsters, Shoma activates the effect of "Tenyi Spirit - Shthana" in his hand, Special Summoning it (L4/400/2000) in Defense Position. Shoma sets "Shthana" and "Monk of the Tenyi" (2 Wyrm monsters) in the Link Arrows to Link Summon "Shaman of the Tenyi" (1600/↙ ↘).

Shoma activates the effect of "Shaman of the Tenyi" to discard 1 card, then Special Summon 1 Wyrm monster from his Graveyard. He discards "Tenyi Spirit - Adhara" to Special Summon "Monk of the Tenyi". Shoma attacks "Simorgh, Lord of the Storm" with "Monk of the Tenyi". As an attack was declared involving his non-Effect Monster, Shoma activates the second effect of "Shaman of the Tenyi" to destroy a card Jukyu controls. He destroys "Simorgh, Lord of the Storm". A replay occurs, and Shoma attacks "Simorgh of Darkness" with "Monk of the Tenyi". "Monk of the Tenyi" is destroyed (Shoma LP: 8000 → 5800).

Since a non-Effect Monster he controls was destroyed by battle, Shoma activates the second effect of "Tenyi Spirit - Shthana" in his Graveyard, banishing it to Special Summon the destroyed monster, then destroy a monster Jukyu controls. He Special Summons "Monk of the Tenyi", then destroys "Simorgh of Darkness". Shoma then attacks and destroys "Simorgh, Bird of Calamity" with the newly Summoned "Monk of the Tenyi". "Simorgh, Bird of Calamity" was Summoned by its second effect, and so is banished. Since a Winged Beast monster he controls was destroyed by battle, Jukyu activates the effect of "Simorgh, Lord of the Storm" in his Graveyard, adding it to his hand. Shoma attacks Jukyu directly with "Shaman of the Tenyi" (Jukyu LP: 8000 → 6400).

Shoma activates "Vessel for the Dragon Cycle" to send a Wyrm monster from his Deck to the Graveyard, then, because he controls a non-Effect Monster, add a "Tenyi" monster from his Deck to his hand. He sends "Tenyi Spirit - Adhara" to the Graveyard and adds "Tenyi Spirit - Nahata" to his hand. Because he controls a non-Effect Monster, Shoma activates the effect of "Adhara" in his Graveyard to add one of his banished Wyrm monsters back to his hand. He adds "Tenyi Spirit - Vishuda".

To end his turn, Shoma Sets a card and activates the Field Spell "Flawless Perfection of the Tenyi". Finally, he sets "Shaman of the Tenyi" and "Monk of the Tenyi" (2+ monsters, including a Link Monster) in the Link Arrows to Link Summon "Berserker of the Tenyi (3000/↑ ↗ ↘).

Turn 3: Strong Jukyu
During Jukyu's Standby Phase, Shoma activates his Set "Waterfall of Dragon Souls" to add a Wyrm monster from his Deck to his hand. He adds "Tenyi Spirit - Shthana".

The next portion of Jukyu's turn is not shown, but at the end, he controls "Simorgh, Lord of the Storm" (L8/3200/2300), "Simorgh of Darkness" (L8/3200/2300), and "Mist Valley Apex Avian" (L7/3000/2300), all in Attack Position.

Jukyu attacks "Berserker of the Tenyi" with "Simorgh of Darkness". Since an attack was declared involving his non-Effect Monster, Shoma activates the effect of "Tenyi Spirit - Nahata" in his hand, banishing it to reduce the ATK of the opponent's battling monster by 1500 until the end of the turn. Jukyu responds with the effect of "Mist Valley Apex Avian", returning it to the hand to negate the activation of Shoma's monster's effect. The battle continues, and "Berserker of the Tenyi" is destroyed (Shoma LP: 5800 → 5600). Since a non-Effect Monster he controls was destroyed by battle, Shoma activates the effect of "Tenyi Spirit - Shthana" in his hand, banishing it to Summon the destroyed monster back to his field, then destroy a card that Jukyu controls. He Summons "Berserker of the Tenyi", then destroys "Simorgh, Lord of the Storm".

Turn 4: Shoma

Since he controls no Effect Monsters, Shoma activates the effect of "Tenyi Spirit - Vishuda" in his hand, Special Summoning it (L7/1500/2500) in Defense Position. He sets "Tenyi Spirit - Vishuda" (1 non-Link "Tenyi" monster) in the Link Arrows to Link Summon a second "Monk of the Tenyi". He then activates the second effect of "Vishuda" in his Graveyard. Since he controls a non-Effect Monster, he banishes it to return "Simorgh of Darkness" to Jukyu's hand. He also activates the second effect of "Tenyi Spirit - Adhara" in his Graveyard to banish it and return his banished "Tenyi Dragon - Shthana" to his hand. Since he controls no Effect Monsters, he activates the effect of "Shthana" in his hand, Special Summoning it in Defense Position. He then sets "Berserker of the Tenyi" and "Monk of the Tenyi" in the Link Arrows to Link Summon a second "Shaman of the Tenyi".

Shoma Normal Summons "Chiwen, Light of the Yang Zing" (L1/0/0). He tunes the Level 4 "Tenyi Spirit - Shthana" to the Level 1 Tuner "Chiwen, Light of the Yang Zing" to Synchro Summon "Denglong, First of the Yang Zing" (L5/0/2800) in Defense Position.

Shoma activates the first effect of "Denglong" to add a "Yang Zing" card from his Deck to his hand. He adds "Nine Pillars of Yang Zing". He then activates its second effect to send a Wyrm monster from his Deck to the Graveyard and make the Level of "Denglong" become the sent monster's. He sends "Tenyi Spirit - Mapura", a Level 4 monster, and so "Denglong" becomes Level 4. Shoma activates the first effect of "Shaman of the Tenyi", discarding "Nine Pillars of Yang Zing" to Special Summon "Berserker of the Tenyi" from his Graveyard. He sets "Denglong, First of the the Yang Zing" and "Shaman of the Tenyi" (2 monsters, including a Tuner) in the Link Arrows to Link Summon "Crystron Halqifibrax" (1500/↙ ↘). Since "Denglong, First of the Yang Zing" left the field, Shoma activates its third effect to Special Summon a "Yang Zing" monster from his Deck. He Special Summons "Suanni, Fire of the Yang Zing" (L4/1900/0) in Attack Position.

Shoma attacks Jukyu directly with "Crystron Halqifibrax", "Suanni, Fire of the Yang Zing", and "Berserker of the Tenyi" (Jukyu LP: 6400 → 4900 → 3000 → 0).
