Happy Lover (character)

Happy Lover is a character in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Capsule Monsters anime. It is based on the "Happy Lover" card. In-universe, it is related to the "Happy Lover" piece in the Capsule Monsters game.

Happy Lover was the first monster Téa Gardner acquired in the World of Capsule Monsters.

Biography[edit]

Thunder Kid, being healed by Happy Lover

Happy Lover and Thunder Kid were inadvertently released by Téa Gardner and Tristan Taylor, who stumbled over their capsules while fleeing a group of Gokibore. They followed Téa and Tristan into a tunnel, sliding into a beach.[2] Téa initially got a shock when she spotted them, but as Happy Lover and Thunder Kid struggled to pull their heads out of the sand, Tristan was unsure if they should run or help them. Téa then recognized Happy Lover as a piece from the Capsule Monsters game and asked if Tristan agreed that he was cute.[1]

Happy Lover and Thunder Kid warned Téa and Tristan as they saw Root Water emerging from the water and stepped forward to protect them. Happy Lover soon hid behind a rock after Thunder Kid took a barrage of attacks. Téa remembered Yugi Muto telling her about the ability "Happy Lover" had in the Capsule Monsters board game, where it could heal injured allies. So she encouraged Happy Lover to likewise heal Thunder Kid. Refreshed, Tristan and Thunder Kid attacked Root Water from above while it was blinded by the sun. However Root Water evolved into High Tide Gyojin afterwards, leaving both Happy Lover and Thunder Kid to trembling in fear. High Tide Gyojin sucked the group into a twister, until they were rescued by Solomon Muto and Summoned Skull.[2]

Happy Lover was called to battle against The Wandering Doomed and Wood Remains, but was not too competent at fighting them off.[3]

Téa got Happy Lover to heal Solomon after he was injured when Summoned Skull battled The Rock Spirit.[4] He also healed Yugi when he was exhausted from the battle with Mystical Sand. However Yugi was not fully recovered and needed to rest to fully regain his energy.[5]

Téa summoned Happy Lover to help her reach the Seiyaryu capsule, when her leg was caught in Jirai Gumo's web.[6]
