"'Beetrooper VS Spright" is the forty-sixth chapter of the Yu-Gi-Oh! OCG Structures manga. It was first published March 21, 2023, in the V Jump magazine.
Summary
Featured Duel: Strong Jukyu vs Psychic Tendo
- Duel continues from the previous chapter.
Turn 2: Jukyu
Jukyu Normal Summons "Beetrooper Scout Buggy" and activates its effect, but Tendo chains with the effect of his "Spright Elf", targeting "Spright Sprind" in his GY. Jukyu chains with a 3rd effect - "Beetrooper Scale Bomber" - Special Summoning itself from the hand. Tendo's "Elf" resolves, Special Summoning "Sprind" from his GY. Finally, Jukyu's "Scout Buggy" resolves, Special Summoning a 2nd copy of itself from his Deck. Tendo activates the effect of "Spright Sprind", detaching 1 Xyz Material from his "Gigantic Spright" to return one of Jukyu's "Scout Buggy" to his hand. Jukyu considers chaining with the 2nd effect of "Scale Bomber", but chooses not to, assuming Tendo would further chain with the effect of "I:P Masquerena". Tendo also banishes "Spright Blue" from his GY to activate his face-down "Spright Smashers", allowing him to banish "Gigantic Spright" from his field alongside "Beetrooper Scale Bomber" from Jukyu's. Jukyu activates "Beetrooper Descent" in an attempt to Special Summon a "Beetrooper Token", but Tendo chains with the effect of "Spright Carrot", Tributing "Sprind" to negate Jukyu's Spell Card.
At this point, some steps of Jukyu's turn are skipped. Jukyu Link Summons "Beetrooper Armor Horn". Tendo activates the effect of "I:P Masquerena", using "Spright Elf", "Spright Carrot" and herself as materials to Link Summon "Apollousa, Bow of the Goddess" (ATK: 2400). The effect of "Masquerena" prevents "Apollousa" from being destroyed by card effects. Furthermore, the effect of "Apollousa" allows Tendo to reduce her ATK by 800 to negate the activation of an opponent's monster effect. Jukyu banishes "Beetrooper Scout Buggy" and "Battlewasp - Pin the Bullseye" from his GY to Special Summon "Doom Dozer" from his hand, since "Apollousa" can't negate Summoning conditions. Jukyu enters his Battle Phase. "Doom Dozer" attacks and destroys "Apollousa" (Tendo's LP: 6700 → 6300). The effect of "Doom Dozer" activates, forcing Tendo to send the top card of his Deck to the GY - "Called by the Grave". "Beetrooper Armor Horn" attacks Tendo directly (Tendo's LP: 6300 → 5300). Jukyu enters his Main Phase 2. He activates the effect of "Armor Horn" to Normal Summon "Retaliating "C"", then uses both monsters as materials to Link Summon "Inzektor Picofalena". The effects of "Retaliating "C"" and "Picofalena" activate; "Picofalena" resolves first, with Jukyu discarding 1 card to equip "Resonance Insect" from his Deck to "Doom Dozer" as an Equip Card that gives it 500 ATK ("Doom Dozer": ATK 2800 → 3300). Next, "Retaliating "C"" resolves, allowing Jukyu to add "Maxx "C"" from his Deck to his hand.
At this point, some steps of Jukyu's turn are skipped. Jukyu now controls "Heavy Beetrooper Mighty Neptune", "Shiny Black "C"", "Beetrooper Scale Bomber", "Beetrooper Armor Horn" and "Beetrooper Cruel Saturnas". Jukyu uses "Shiny Black "C"", "Scale Bomber" and "Armor Horn" as materials to Link Summon "Giant Beetrooper Invincible Atlas". During the End Phase, Jukyu activates the effect of "Mighty Neptune", increasing the ATK of "Cruel Saturnas" by 1000 (ATK 2400 → 3400).
Turn 4: Tendo
Tendo draws "Spright Red", and subsequently Normal Summons it. Next, he activates the effect of "Nemeses Corridor" from his hand, targeting his banished "Spright Blue". Jukyu chains with the effect of "Maxx "C"" from his hand. "Nemeses Corridor" is Special Summoned, and "Spright Blue" returns to Tendo's Deck. Upon its Special Summon, the effect of "Maxx "C"" allows Jukyu to draw 1 card. Tendo's current hand contains "Spright Pixies" and "Triple Tactics Talent".
