"Bochi of the Graveyard" is the ninth episode of the Yu-Gi-Oh! GO RUSH!! anime. It first aired in Japan on May 29, 2022.

Manya's team is having a Rush Duel battle against a local elementary school team. The opponent Manya picked for the second match is Manabu Sogetsu, who was part of the audience. And the Duelist Manabu will be facing is: Manya's pet dog, Bochi?!

Summary

The MC and Yudias begin the episode with an advertisement for Zubaochil Neo from the Arai Company. Afterwards the live showing of "Learning the Fun Way – Ultimate Go Rush!" continues, and Manya cheerfully waves to the audience as a spotlight snaps on her and another on Yuamu, Yudias, and Yuhi as the MC states that Manya Atachi's team is facing off against the local elementary school's in a Rush Duel showdown, and their local team won the first showdown, but how will the second play out? As the other MIK agents in the audience clap, Nyandestar looks around the room with glowing red eyes and notes to Manabu that she can faintly feel the energy of the unregistered alien, and Manabu remembers seeing the small black shape in the Mutsuba Cable building's hallways. Manya sits down with a sigh backstage and Kirishima congratulates her, though Manya just asks him where her sushi is. Kirishima cheerfully tells her he already ordered it and suggests she juice wait a bit as he hands her a bottle of juice. Manya tells Kirishima he's up next and suggests he prepare, but Kirishima notes something's come up and a voice asks Manya for a favor. Onstage, the MC declares the start of the second match and Manya immediately zooms out onto stage and greets everyone (forcing Yuhi to shove Yudias backstage) as she suggests they start the second match, declaring their opponent will be Manabu Sogetsu, much to everyone else's shock. Manabu calmly stands up and states that he is Manabu Sogetsu, but why has he been chosen to be the opponent? The MC agrees, noting Manya is going off-script again, though Manya cheerfully tells him she's changing it because she thought of something more interesting.

She declares that Manabu's opponent will be her beloved dog Bochi, who appears onstage in a puff of smoke. Yuhi and Yuamu are shocked to see a dog, but Manabu recognizes Bochi, much to Nyandestar's shock, as Manya carries him down the stairs. The MC laments to the camerawoman that it's off-script, and the camerawoman asks him what they should do, but the MC rights himself and declares this is what live TV is all about, confirming to the audience that the second match will be between Manabu Sogetsu and Manya's precious dog Bochi, admitting it's an unexpected turn of events. Manabu looks at Bochi mournfully (something Nyandetsar notices) and thinks that he's missed Bochi so much, remembering holding the little dog in his youth. Nyandestar isn't impressed with Manabu's gentle look considering he's never looked at her like that before and calls Bochi a thieving canine, while Yuhi wonders if a dog can even Duel, though Manya claims any dream can come true on TV and the MC has to hastily agree. Manabu tells Bochi that he hasn't changed a bit.

But Bochi speaks, claiming that he has changed, and he transforms into a muscular canine humanoid, declaring he is Bochi the Dog of Vengeance after Manabu whispers his name in shock, something Manabu and Nyandestar call purr-posterous. The live and TV audience can only gape in shock and Yuhi cheerfully comments that he sees; now the dog can Duel. Yuamu incredulously asks what Yuhi is seeing, but then notices his ahoge standing straight up and comments that Bochi is an alien as expected (as the camerawoman circles the Duelists) and Nyandestar notes that Bochi must have been the source of the residual energy. The MC gasps in shock that Bochi has transformed and Manya gasps, claiming Bochi's desire to see Manabu again has transformed him into a human, much to the camerawoman's disbelief, and Manya claims anything can happen on TV. The MC goes along with that explanation, claiming there's nothing weird about that, and somehow this convinces the audience - even the live audience - that this is CGI. Yudias is impressed by Bochi's feat and Yuhi seems to have accepted the TV explanation, prompting Yuamu to tell them they accepted that too quickly. Manabu is shocked that Bochi was an alien and Bochi claims he came to Earth to be the best and has not forgotten the sunset of the day Manabu abandoned him. Manabu gasps and Bochi claims the lonely days spent waiting for Manabu to return changed him, declaring this is a sad tale of vengeance being abandoned in the graveyard of the past, dubbing himself again as Bochi the Dog of Vengeance as he remembers howling mournfully. Manabu protests it wasn't like that because something happened, but Bochi doesn't take kindly to excuses, so Manabu asks what he can do to make up for what happened. Bochi decrees they will Duel, as Bochi found Rush Dueling in his quest to become the strongest and they are the right arena to fight over their shared sorrowful past - if Manabu calls himself a warrior, they must settle this in battle. Yudias agrees a fight between warriors about their pasts should be a Rush Duel, much to the twins' surprise, and Bochi tells Manabu he will forgive Manabu's sins if he wins, but should Manabu lose he'll become a dog devoted to Manya and Bochi forever. Manabu asks in shock what Bochi just said and Nyandestar calls is purr-posterous (both statements sound similar in Japanese). Bochi reassures Manabu he'll get three meals a day and naps and walks, and Yuhi wonders how he thinks that's all right, but Manabu agrees if it will be enough to make up for his mistakes, holding up his Duel Disk as Nyandestar again calls the situation purr-posterous. Bochi holds up his own Duel Disk and suggests they begin, declaring again that he is Bochi the Dog of Vengeance, while Manabu states his own name. They insert their Decks into their Duel Disks with a cry of "Go Rush!!" to deploy the blades and the green holographic dome.

Bochi declares his turn and a draw full of vengeance. His hand containing "Heartless Hound Thunder Emperor Drainu", "Heartless Hound Blade Bulldosu", "Heartless Hound Blaster Gundog", and two "Heartless Hound Blade Aikuchihuahua", Bochi tells his monsters to answer his call, Summoning "Heartless Hound Blaster Gundog", "Heartless Hound Blade Aikuchihuahua", and "Heartless Hound Blade Bulldosu". He Tributes "Gundog" and "Aikuchihuahua" to Tribute Summon, chanting "A crackling, thunderous dog! A bolt from left field! Heartless Hound Thunder Emperor Drainu!" Yuhi gasps that Bochi might be a dog, but he Tributed Summoned so quickly, and Bochi activates the effect of "Drainu", sending the top two cards of his Deck to the Graveyard to Special Summon, reviving "Gundog". Yudias gasps, recalling the effect is similar to Tell reviving a monster during his Rush Duel with Yuhi, and Yuhi tries to begin explaining, but Manya begins her explanation corner, stating that while the Graveyard is used for used and discarded cards, monster, Spell and Trap effects can also Special Summon them from the Graveyard, and one will be golden in a Duel if they do so well. Bochi ends his turn.

Manabu declares his turn and a Chemeowstry draw, his hand containing "Scales of Flame", "Cremation Dog Nitro", "Doctor Red Robe", "Flame Seeker", and "Blast Examiner". He Summons "Cremation Dog Nitro", "Doctor Red Robe", and "Flame Seeker", then activates the effect of "Cremation Dog Nitro" to inflict 400 damage to Bochi, an explosion erupting at Bochi's feet and reducing him to 3600 LP. Then Manabu Tributes "Nitro" and chants "It's catastic! Clawsome! And paw-sitively hiss-terical! I love conducting experiments! Tribute Summon! Blast Examiner!" He returns "Nitro" from his Graveyard to his Deck to activate the Spell Card "Scales of Flame", increasing the ATK of "Blast Examiner" by 500 until the end of the turn and reducing the ATK of "Drainu" by 500 until the end of the turn as well. "Blast Examiner" rises to 2200 ATK and "Drainu" falls to 1900, and Manabu orders "Flame Seeker" to attack "Gundog", blasting flames from its blowtorches that consume it, though Bochi only smiles as he falls to 3500 LP. Manabu then attacks "Bulldosu" with "Doctor Red Robe", blasting a fireball that destroys "Bulldosu" and reduces Bochi to 3400 LP. "Blast Examiner" then attacks and destroys "Heartless Hound Thunder Emperor Drainu", shielding herself as an explosion erupts beneath "Doraniu" and consumes it, reducing Bochi to 3100 LP. Bochi barely reacts, and Manabu ends his turn, returning the ATK of "Blast Examiner" to normal.

Bochi congratulates Manabu as expected of the Sogetsu Style. Manabu is shocked Bochi knows the name and Yuhi asks what it is, so Manabu explains it is a martial art that has been passed down since the Sengoku period, and Manabu was born to be its heir, expected to master all sorts of martial arts. Remembering meditating at the Sogetsu Dojo, he states he had every martial art hammered into him, from swordsmanship, spearmanship, and archery. Yudias muses that he sees; Manabu is from a line of venerable warriors. Manabu explains he hated having to use Sogetsu Style to her other people and remembers finding Bochi in the rain, noting that it was then he met Bochi, who was alone just like he was and being with Bochi was his only form of solace during his painful days of training. But eventually he was found out; the place where he played with Bochi discovered, and he was told he lacked the awareness of an heir. Having angered his instructors, Manabu was sent to the mountains for intense training and Bochi had vanished by the time Manabu had returned. Manabu only found small footprints leading into large one that led to a destroyed wall, and he believed Bochi to have been kidnapped by aliens, so he swore to rescue Bochi and left the Sogetsu Style behind to join MIK. Nyandestar wipes her eyes, shocked that Manabu had such a painful past and Manabu admits he never thought Bochi would be an alien. Bochi says Manabu's name quietly and Manabu claims he doesn't regret the path he's taken since joined MIK let him meet Bochi again.

But Bochi laughs that Manabu's goody two-shoes side hasn't changed, claiming that he grew close to Manabu because he was the heir to Sogetsu Style, and Manabu gasps in shock. Bochi declares his turn and a surprising crushing draw, drawing four cards, so his hand now contains two "Aikuchihuahua", "Woofderful Heartless Hound", another "Gundog", and "Heartless Hound Martial Master Shiba". He Summons "Gundog" and "Aikuchihuahua" and Manabu asks if Bochi really came to him because of Sogetsu Style. Bochi claims to have been searching for a renowned warrior suitable to become his prey, and he found it in the renowned Sogetsu Style. Bochi made the decision to bring ruin to the Sogetsu Style by outperforming its heirs and passing on the "Wicked Fist of the Beloved Dog". Yudias gasps the term and Yuamu asks if he knows it; Yudias explains it is a legendary assassination technique of selective inheritance from the Bow Wow Wow Cluster. Bochi confirms that it is, and as Yudias remembers patting a dog, Bochi explains that they can attack from behind by acting as docile dogs to infiltrate their enemies; this is the Wicked Fist of the Beloved Dog. Recalling being struck down by such a technique, Yudias declares that one is finished once they look into the lovable eyes of the dogs and even he was not immune, admitting it to be a terrifying technique, though Yuamu and Yuhi aren't sure how to word it. Manabu is shocked to learn Bochi was planning something like that and Nyandestar snaps that it's unforgivable, ordering Bochi to give back the tears she shed.

Bochi tells her to cry all she wants, Tributing his two monsters to Tribute Summon and chanting "Born from fury to destroy hatred! The god of dogs! Heartless Hound Martial Master Shiba, descend!" "Shiba" appears with 2500 ATK; the MC gasps and Manya comments that Bochi is planning to finish this with his ace monster. Bochi activates the "Dogminant Rebirth" effect of "Shiba" to revive "Heartless Hound Thunder Emperor Drainu", Yudias gasping that it's another Special Summon as "Drainu" emerges from the portal "Shiba" conjured with their trident. Bochi then activates the effect of "Drainu" as well, sending the top two cards of his Deck to the Graveyard to Special Summon "Bulldosu" from his Graveyard. Manabu grits his teeth and notes that Bochi Summoned from the Graveyard again, and Manya explains that Bochi's Deck revives monsters from the Graveyard over and over, Yudias gasping that it's a Deck of death (the terms he and Manya use in the Japanese version are homophones). Bochi then activates the Spell Card "Woofderful Heartless Hound", sending four cards from his Deck to the Graveyard to increase the ATK of "Bulldosu" by 1200 until the end of the turn, bringing it to 2600 ATK. Vowing to send Manabu to his grave, Bochi orders "Bulldosu" to cut him into ribbons, and "Bulldosu" strikes down "Flame Seeker", reducing Manabu to 2800 LP. Bochi orders "Drainu" to rip him to shreds and "Drainu" destroys "Doctor Red Robe" with a blast of lightning, reducing Manabu to 1900 LP. Finally he orders "Shiba" to end it with "Back-Strike of the Wicked Fist" and "Shiba" conjures a small dog to distract "Blast Examiner" than grows into a beast like Bochi and strikes the shocked monster down, destroying it and throwing Manabu off his feet, reducing him to 1100 LP as Nyandestar gasps his name. Bochi laughs and ends his turn, returning the ATK of "Bulldosu" to normal as he asks if Manabu will yield, become a dog, and eternally serve Bochi and Manya.

But Manabu gets to his feet, dusts himself off, and declares this experiment is over, claiming to have finished analyzing Bochi. He declares his turn and Chemeowstry draws five cards, two more "Nitro", "Chemicalize Salamander", and two more "Doctor Red Robes". He Summons both "Cremation Dog Nitro", then activates their effects to inflict 400 damage each to Bochi, the ground exploding twice next to Bochi as his LP falls to 2700, then 2300, and Manya gasps Bochi's name. Manabu comments that joining MIK wasn't a mistake after all, since it meant he got to meet Bochi again, and Bochi says Manabu's name softly, but Manabu warns Bochi that as long as he is an alien disturbing the peace, then he must stop him as a member of MIK. He Tributes his two "Nitro" to Tribute Summon, chanting "The flames seeking truth shall never burn out. This is an efficient combustion of victory! Roar, Chemicalize Salamander!" "Chemicalize Salamander" appears with 2500 ATK; Yudias, Yuhi and Yuamu are impressed, Nyandestar declaring this is Manabu's ace monster, and Manabu also Summons two more "Doctor Red Robes". He comments that Bochi has been using his Graveyard for a while, but it will be his downfall, and as Bochi gasps "What?" Manabu activates the effect "Chemicalize Salamander", returning three monsters ("Blast Examiner" and the two "Nitro") from his Graveyard to his Deck to reduce the ATK of all monsters Bochi controls by 100 times the number of monster's in Bochi's Graveyard. Bochi gasps as Manabu declares "Fatal Experiment" and "Chemicalize Salamander" erupts with blue flames, Yudias noting that Bochi's Graveyard has twelve monsters in it and Yuhi declaring they'll all lose 1200 ATK. "Drainu" falls to 1200 ATK, "Shiba" to 1300 and "Bulldosu" to 200. Bochi growls in frustration as Yuhi congratulates Manabu, declaring the Deck of death is about to meet its grave. Manabu declares he'll be completing his research for victory, destroying "Bulldosu" with a "Doctor Red Robe" and reducing Bochi to 1000 LP, then adds that he'll complete the truth as the other "Doctor Red Robe" destroys "Drainu" with a fireball, reducing Bochi to 700 LP. Manabu declares the conclusion of his victory as "Chemicalize Salamander" attacks with "Burning Conclusion", breathing a pillar of fire at "Shiba" and destroying it, Manabu turning away and declaring his inspection complete as Bochi cries out, his LP reduced to zero.

The MC declares that Manabu has won with a come from behind victory, and the audience and viewers cheer. To Manabu's surprise, Bochi tears up happily (forcing Manya to grab an umbrella) sobbing that Manabu was so weak before but has become so strong and Bochi is so proud. Manabu asks in shock if Bochi doesn't resent him, and Bochi takes a handkerchief from the teary Manya, admitting he did once but he changed after meeting Manya. He had been frustrated after losing his chance to infiltrate the Sogetsu Style and lost his purpose, meeting Manya on a freezing roadside. Bochi notes the world of showbiz is full of demons and Manya had no connections to producers or big names to protect her, but continued to challenge such a world head on and carve a path for herself with her bare hands. This made Bochi realize that the Wicked Fist of the Beloved Dog style was cowardly, though Yuamu and Yuhi have to finish the sentence for him. Yudias agrees it is dirty, but it is admirable for Bochi to have realized so, and Bochi states that he decided to protect Manya after having his eyes opened. Nyandestar asks why Bochi claimed revenge, and Manya speaks into the MC's microphone, explaining Bochi wanted to test his strength in a Rush Duel. Bochi begs Manabu's forgiveness for planning to use him in the past and Manabu points out he won, so they can let bygones be bygones, holding out his hand. Bochi gasps Manabu's name as he takes it, and Manabu asks if Bochi is happy; Bochi gets to his feet and declares he is gravely so. The MC tears up, declaring this long tale of vengeance has come to its moving finale, and everyone tears up and begins applauding as the MC declares this is live TV (and Yuamu can only comment "good grief").

Outside, Kirishima is waiting for Manya's sushi and the delivery bike arrives. Back in the MCV studio the MC declares the local team has two wins and Yudias celebrates, Yuamu noting they've won. Yuhi irritably claims Manabu isn't one of them and points out he hasn't Dueled yet, so Manya suggests they move onto the third round, much to Yuhi's joy. But then someone breaks the wall down, and as the dust clears the MC tries to reassure everyone that this is just TV. The dust fades to reveal the delivery boy and he rips off his helmet as Manya asks if this is her sushi delivery. But the UTS crew gasp in shock as they recognize Chupataro, who grins and says "Chupa."
