Featured Duel: Yami Yugi and Yugi Muto Vs. Maximillion Pegasus

Turn 1: Yami Yugi
Yugi Sets a card. Yugi Sets a monster.

Turn 2: Pegasus
Pegasus uses his Millenium Eye to see the cards Yugi played; "Beaver Warrior" and "Horn of the Unicorn". Pegasus Sets a card. Pegasus Normal Summons "Red Archery Girl" (1400/1500) in Defense Position.

Turn 3: Yami Yugi
Yugi Flip Summons "Beaver Warrior" (1200/1500) in Attack Position. Yugi activates his Set Equip Magic Card "Horn of the Unicorn", equipping it to a monster. He equips it to "Beaver Warrior". The effect of "Horn of the Unicorn" increases the ATK of the equipped monster by 700 ("Beaver Warrior": 1200 → 1900/1500). As a face-down card was flipped face-up, Pegasus activates his Set Trap Card "Tears of a Mermaid", neutralizing all enemy attacks. The attack of "Beaver Warrior" destroys "Horn of the Unicorn" instead ("Beaver Warrior": 1900 → 1200/1500).

Turn 4: Pegasus
Pegasus switches "Red Archery Girl" to Attack Position. "Red Archery Girl" attacks and destroys "Beaver Warrior" (Yugi: 2000 → 1800 LP).

Turn 5: Yami Yugi
Yugi Sets a monster.

Turn 6: Pegasus
Pegasus Sets a card. Pegasus Normal Summons "Ryu-Ran" (2200/2600) in Defense Position. Pegasus switches "Red Archery Girl" to Defense Position.

Turn 7: Yami Yugi
Pegasus uses the Millennium Eye to see that Yugi's hand contains "Celtic Guardian", "Spellbinding Circle", "Magical Hats", and "Horn Imp". Yugi draws "Summoned Skull". Yugi Sets a card. Yugi Normal Summons "Summoned Skull" (2500/1200) in Defense Position.

Turn 8: Pegasus
Pegasus switches "Ryu-Ran" to Attack Position. "Ryu-Ran" attacks "Summoned Skull", but Yugi activates his Set Continuous Trap Card "Spellbinding Circle", selecting a monster Pegasus controls and preventing it from attacking, changing its battle position, activating its effects, and reducing its ATK by 700 ("Ryu-Ran": 2200 → 1500/2600).

Turn 9: Yami Yugi
Yugi switches "Summoned Skull" to Attack Position. "Summoned Skull" attacks "Ryu-Ran", but Pegasus activates his face-down Trap Card "Trap Displacement", transferring the effect of a Trap Card to his opponent's monster. He transfers the effect "Spellbinding Circle" to "Summoned Skull", preventing it from attacking or changing its battle position and reducing its ATK by 700 ("Summoned Skull": 2500 → 1800/1200, "Ryu-Ran": 1500 → 2200/2600). "Ryu-Ran" counterattacks and destroys "Summoned Skull" (Yugi: 1800 → 1400 LP).

Turn 10: Pegasus
Pegasus activates the Continuous Magic Card "Toon World". The effect of "Toon World" transforms any monsters Pegasus controls into Toon monsters and prevents monsters hidden in "Toon World" from being attacked. The effect of "Toon World" transforms "Red Archery Girl" and "Ryu-Ran" into "Toon Mermaid" (1400/1500) and "Manga Ryu-Ran" (2200/2600) respectively. "Manga Ryu-Ran" attacks and destroys Yugi's Set "Giant Soldier of Stone" (1300/2000). Pegasus uses the effect of "Toon World" to hide "Manga Ryu-Ran" within its pages. Pegasus switches "Toon Mermaid" to Attack Position.

Turn 11: Yami Yugi
Yugi Normal Summons "Celtic Guardian" (1400/1200) in Attack Position. "Celtic Guardian" attacks "Toon Mermaid", but as Toon monsters cannot be destroyed by battle with non-Toon monsters only "Celtic Guardian" is destroyed. Pegasus uses the effect of "Toon World" to hide "Toon Mermaid" within its pages.

Turn 12: Pegasus
Pegasus Sets two cards.

Turn 13: Yami Yugi
Yugi's hand contains "Feral Imp", "Monster Recovery", "Magical Hats" and "Horn Imp". Yugi Sets "Horn Imp". Pegasus activates his Set Continuous Trap Card "Gorgon's Eye", petrifying all Defense Position monsters Yugi controls. "Horn Imp" (1300/1000) is flipped face-up and turned to stone. While "Gorgon's Eye" is face-up on the field, when a Defense Position monster Yugi controls is destroyed, Yugi will take damage equal to half that monster's DEF.

Turn 14: Pegasus
Pegasus activates his Set Magic Card "Doppleganger", choosing a card in Yugi's Graveyard and Summoning itself as a copy of it if it is a monster, or activating its effect if it is a Magic or Trap Card. He chooses Yugi's "Summoned Skull", so "Doppleganger" is Special Summoned as "Summoned Skull" (2500/1200) in Attack Position. The effect of "Toon World" transforms "Summoned Skull" into "Toon Summoned Skull". "Toon Summoned Skull" attacks and destroys "Horn Imp". The effect of "Gorgon's Eye" activates (Yugi: 1400 → 900 LP). Pegasus uses the effect of "Toon World" to hide "Toon Summoned Skull" within the pages of "Toon World".

Turn 15: Yami Yugi
Yugi draws "Dark Magician". Yugi Normal Summons "Dark Magician" (2500/2100) in Attack Position. Yugi activates the Magic Card "Magical Hats", hiding a monster he controls within 1 of 4 "Hats". He hides "Dark Magician" in a "Hat". At this point, Yugi Muto contacts Yami Yugi from within their mind for the first time, suggesting the Mind Shuffle strategy to prevent Pegasus from reading their minds. Yugi switches with Yami Yugi.

Turn 16: Pegasus
Pegasus releases "Toon Summoned Skull" from "Toon World". "Toon Summoned Skull" attacks and destroys the rightmost "Hat", but the "Hat" is empty, as Yugi had moved it and Pegasus had not read his mind. (In the dub, Pegasus had read Yugi's mind, but Yugi didn't know where "Dark Magician" was.) Pegasus uses the effect of "Toon World" to hide "Toon Summoned Skull" within the pages of "Toon World".

Turn 17: Yugi/Yami Yugi
Yugi Sets the card he drew. Pegasus tries to read Yugi's mind to determine the Set card, but Yugi switches back to Yami Yugi, who doesn't know what the Set card is, so the Mind Scan fails.

Turn 18: Pegasus
Pegasus releases "Toon Summoned Skull" from "Toon World". "Toon Summoned Skull" attacks and destroys the middle "Hat", but the "Hat" is empty. Pegasus uses the effect of "Toon World" to hide "Toon Summoned Skull" within the pages of "Toon World".

Turn 19: Yugi/Yami Yugi
Yami Yugi switches back to Yugi. Yugi draws "Living Arrow". Yugi Sets "Living Arrow". Yugi switches back to Yami Yugi.

Turn 20: Pegasus
Pegasus draws "Magical Neutralizing Force". Pegasus activates the Magic Card "Magic Neutralizing Force", choosing a side of the field and negating all Magic effects applying to that field. The lingering effect of "Magical Hats" is negated, so the remaining two "Hats" are destroyed and "Dark Magician" is revealed. Pegasus releases "Toon Summoned Skull" from "Toon World". "Toon Summoned Skull" attacks "Dark Magician", but Yami Yugi switches back to Yugi, who activates his Set Magic Card "Living Arrow", allowing him to use a Magic Card on his opponent's monster. He chooses "Magical Neutralizing Force". Yugi switches back to Yami Yugi. The effect of "Magic Neutralizing Force" destroys "Toon World" and "Gorgon's Eye". As "Toon World" was destroyed, all of Pegasus's monsters that were affected by "Toon World" return to normal ("Red Archery Girl" (1400/1500), "Ryu-Ran" (2200/2600) and "Doppelganger". The attack of "Toon Summoned Skull" continues, but Yami Yugi switches with Yugi and as Pegasus' monster declared an attack, Yugi activates his Set Trap Card "Mirror Force", redirecting the attack to every Attack Position monster Pegasus controls. "Toon Summoned Skull" had 2500 ATK, so the 1400 ATK "Red Archery Girl", 2200 ATK "Ryu-Ran" and "Doppelganger" are all destroyed (Pegasus: 2000 → 600 LP). At this point, Pegasus turns the Duel into a Shadow Game.

Turn 25: Yugi/Yami Yugi
Yugi draws, but at this point, Yami Yugi takes over again, fearing Yugi is unable to handle the stress of the Shadow Game. "Curse of Dragon" attacks "Dark-Eyes Illusionist", but as a monster targeted "Dark-Eyes Illusionist" for an attack, its effect activates, preventing that monster from attacking.

Turn 26: Pegasus
Pegasus activates his Set Ritual Magic Card, "Black Illusion Ritual", Ritual Summoning "Relinquished" by Tributing monsters from his hand or field whose Levels equal or exceed 1. He Tributes the Level 2 "Dark-Eyes Illusionist" to Ritual Summon the Level 1 "Relinquished" (0/0) in Attack Position. Pegasus activates the effect of "Relinquished" effect, equipping a monster Yugi controls to it and increasing its ATK and DEF by the ATK and DEF of the equipped monsters. In addition, if "Relinquished" would be destroyed, Pegasus can destroy one of the equipped monsters instead, and Yugi will take any battle damage he took from battles involving "Relinquished" while it was equipped with a monster. He chooses"Curse of Dragon" ("Relinquished": 0 → 2000/0 → 1500).

Turn 27: Yugi/Yami Yugi
"Dark Magician" attacks "Relinquished", but due to the effect of "Relinquished", "Curse of Dragon" is destroyed instead and the battle damage that Pegasus would have taken is inflicted to Yami Yugi (Yami: 900 → 400 LP; "Relinquished": 2000 → 0/1500 → 0).

Turn 28: Pegasus
Pegasus activates the effect of "Relinquished", equipping "Dark Magician" to itself and increasing its ATK and DEF by the ATK and DEF of "Dark Magician" ("Relinquished": 0 → 2500/0 → 2100).

Turn 29: Yugi/Yami Yugi

Turn 31: Yami Yugi
Yami Yugi draws "Winged Dragon, Guardian of the Fortress". Yami Yugi Normal Summons "Winged Dragon, Guardian of the Fortress" (1400/1200) in Defense Position.

Turn 32: Pegasus
"Relinquished" attacks and destroys "Winged Dragon, Guardian of the Fortress". Pegasus Normal Summons "Jigen Bakudan" in Attack Position. The effect of "Jigen Bakudan" prevents it from being selected as an attack target. During Yami Yugi's second End Phase after "Jigen Bakudan" was Summoned, it will be destroyed, and then every monster Pegasus will be destroyed, then both players will take damage equal to the original ATK of the monsters they owned. Yami Yugi's hand contains "Makiu, the Magical Mist", "Multiply", "Burning Land", "Kuriboh" and "Monster Recovery".

Turn 33: Yami Yugi
Yami Yugi draws "Mystic Box". At this point Pegasus tries to Yami Yugi's mind, but the power of his friendship with Joey Wheeler, Téa Gardner and Tristan Taylor blocks the power of the Millennium Eye. Yami Yugi activates the Magic Card "Mystic Box", switching the position of "Dark Magician" with "Jigen Bakudan". "Dark Magician" (2500/2100) is placed back on Yami's side of the field in Attack Position and "Jigen Bakudan" is equipped to "Relinquished" ("Relinquished": 2500 → 200/2100 → 1000).

Turn 34: Pegasus
Pegasus passes.

Turn 35: Yami Yugi
Yami Yugi draws "Brain Control". Yami Yugi activates the Magic Card "Brain Control", selecting a monster Pegasus controls and taking control of it until the end of the turn. He chooses "Relinquished". Yami Yugi activates his Set Ritual Magic Card "Dark Magic Ritual", Ritual Summoning "Magician of Black Chaos" by Tributing monsters from his hand or field whose total Levels equal or exceed 8. He Tributes the Level 7 "Dark Magician" and Level 2 "Jigen Bakudan" ("Relinquished": 200 → 0/1000 → 0) to Ritual Summon the Level 8 "Magician of Black Chaos" (2800/2600) in Attack Position. Yami Yugi Sets a card. Yami Yugi Sets a monster. During the End Phase, "Relinquished" returns to Pegasus's side of the field.

Turn 36: Pegasus
Pegasus Normal Summons "Thousand-Eyes Idol (anime)|]]" (0/0) in Attack Position. Pegasus activates "Polymerization", fusing a designated monster with another. He fuses "Relinquished" with "Thousand-Eyes Idol" to Fusion Summon "Thousand-Eyes Restrict" (0/0) in Attack Position. Due to the effect of "Thousand-Eyes Restrict", none of Yami's monsters can attack or change their battle positions.

Pegasus activates the effect of "Thousand-Eyes Restrict" equipping a monster Yami Yugi controls to it and increasing its ATK and DEF by the ATK and DEF of the equipped monsters. In addition, if "Thousand-Eyes Restrict" would be destroyed, Pegasus can destroy one of the equipped monsters instead, and Yugi will take any battle damage he took from battles involving "Thousand-Eyes Restrict" while it was equipped with a monster. He chooses "Magician of Black Chaos", but Yami Yugi reveals his Set "Kuriboh" and activates his face-down Magic Card "Multiply", infinitely multiplying a monster with 500 or less ATK. He multiples "Kuriboh". The effect of "Thousand-Eyes Restrict" targets the "Kuribohs" instead, but as it was targeted by a card effect, the effect of "Kuriboh" activates, destroying it. As "Kuriboh" was destroyed while equipped to "Thousand-Eyes Restrict", it cripples "Thousand-Eyes Restrict" and negates its effects, but inflicts damage equal to its ATK to Yami Yugi ("Thousand-Eyes Restrict": 0 → 300/0 → 200; Yami Yugi: 400 → 100 LP).
