Julian was Rafael's brother, who was killed by a tidal wave along with Sonia and their parents while on a cruise ship piloted by Dartz.
Background
Rafael survived the tidal wave and was upset by his family's deaths. After his second Duel with Yami Yugi, he appears again when his "Guardians" and his family appeared again. After The Great Leviathan was destroyed, he appeared again, saying that he would always be in Rafael's heart with his sister and parents.
