OCG Rulings

[Regarding "Must be Special Summoned (from your Extra Deck) by banishing the above monsters, 1 each from your field and GY."][1]

  • It is not treated as an effect. It is the way/procedure to Special Summon this monster from the Extra Deck.
  • It is the only way to Special Summon this card. (This card cannot be Special Summoned by a Fusion Summon. Even if it leaves the field after being Special Summoned this way, as a general rule, it cannot be Special Summoned by other card effects.)
  • When Special Summoning this card this way, you must banish 1 appropriate card from your Monster Zone and 1 appropriate card from your Graveyard as Fusion Material.
  • As part of the procedure, you can also banish an appropriate card in face-down Defense Position.
  • Banishing cards and Special Summoning this monster do not happen at the same time.

[Regarding the effect "Once per turn (Quick Effect): You can pay 2000 LP; banish all other cards on the field and in the GYs."][1]

[Regarding the effect "Once per turn, during your End Phase: Send the top 4 cards of your Deck to the GY."][1]

  • It is a Trigger Effect that activates in the Monster Zone.
  • It activates mandatorily.

[Regarding the effect "If this card in its owner's possession is destroyed by an opponent's card: You can add 2 of your banished monsters to your hand (1 "Judgment Dragon" and 1 "Punishment Dragon"), then you can Special Summon both, ignoring their Summoning conditions."][1]

  • It is a Trigger Effect.
  • It can be activated even during the Damage Step.
  • If this card is destroyed by your opponent, this effect can be activated in the Graveyard if this card is sent to the Graveyard, or while banished if this card is banished face-up. (It can be activated where this card is first sent after being destroyed.)
  • At resolution, apply "add 2 of your banished monsters to your hand (1 "Judgment Dragon" and 1 "Punishment Dragon")". Then, if both monsters were added to your hand, you can apply "Special Summon both, ignoring their Summoning conditions".
  • Adding cards to your hand and Special Summoning do not happen at the same time.
  • At resolution, if you do not have both a banished "Judgment Dragon" and "Punishment Dragon", the effect that adds the cards to your hand is not applied. (The effect is applied if you have at least 1 banished copy of each card.)

Q&A Rulings

A: It can be activated if there is at least 1 card that can be banished. (This "card that can be banished" refers to all cards other than cards that "cannot be banished". A monster that is "unaffected by effects" is not banished as a result, but is still counted as a "card that can be banished".) For example, the effect of "Enlightenment Dragon" can be activated in the following situations:
● There is at least 1 card on your opponent's field.
● There is at least 1 card in either player's Graveyard.
However, if there are no cards in Graveyards and the only cards on the field are a face-up "Lightsworn" monster you control and a "Minerva, the Athenian Lightsworn" you control, since there are no cards that can be banished, the effect of "Enlightenment Dragon" cannot be activated.[2]
