Kyle is the son of Larz and a resident of Sir Freed's sanctuary. While away from the sanctuary, he is cornered by Scarr in a destroyed village. He carries with him a Duel Disk, so Scarr intended to Duel him in order kill him, after missing with a long-range weapon. Jaden Yuki steps in Duel Scarr instead, and defeats him, saving Kyle. Jaden's group is invited back to the sanctuary. Kyle's sister, Gina explains that their father Larz was a member of Freed's Steel Knight Army, but was captured along with many other soldiers. Larz himself escapes, but dies of his wounds after reaching the sanctuary, but not before urging Kyle to protect his sister as Sir Freed had.
