"Impcantation", known as "Deviritual" (魔神儀 Debiricharu) in Japanese, is an archetype of LIGHT and DARK monsters that debuted in Cybernetic Horizon. The archetype is focused on supporting Ritual Summons.

Another way is to send this card back to the hand with "Giant Trunade" or similar effects, or having something like "Bottomless Trap Hole" or "Torrential Tribute" on the field to destroy the Special Summoned monster after destroying "Geartown". Banishing this card is even better.

Playing style
The "Impcantation" archetype is an archetype focused on supporting Ritual Summoning, by using their own effects to search and retrieve Ritual Monsters and Ritual Spells from both the Deck and GY, and setting up the field with enough levels for Ritual Summoning.

All non-Ritual "Impcantation" monsters share two common effects, one effect to Special Summon themselves and another "Impcantation" from the Deck, and a second that is Triggered when they are Special Summoned from the Deck. These effects are once per turn, and the player can only use one of the two effects of an "Impcantation" monster per turn.

The way these two effects function means that if the player only has one of the two cards required for a Ritual Summon (Ritual Spell or Monster), they can activate a corresponding "Impcantation" in the hand to Special Summon it and a different "Impcantation" from the Deck, and have the latter add the other component to the hand.

When on the field, the "Impcantation" monsters apply the Continuous effect that the player cannot Special Summon from the Extra Deck.

The "Impcantation" Ritual Monsters provide additional support for the "Impcantation" Ritual support playstyle in the hand. "Chalislime" can reveal itself to Special Summon a non-Ritual "Impcantation" from the Deck, allowing for an immediate activation of an "Impcantation" search/recovery effect; this has the cost of both discarding a card and a hefty 2500 LP if you do not Ritual Summon after using this effect. "Crealtar" has a Quick Effect to reveal itself in either player's Main Phases to Special Summon "Impcantation" monsters from the GY whose total Levels equal 10, but they will be shuffled back into the Deck in the End Phase; this swarming effect allows an easy setup of a Ritual Summon of a Level 10 or lower Ritual Monster, but it can also alternatively be used to recover "Impcantation" monsters back into the Deck to re-activate their Deck summon trigger effects.

On the field, the "Impcantation" Ritual Monsters provide some combat capabilities to the "Impcantation" monsters, which is only situationally useful. "Chalislime" can send another "Impcantation" card from the hand or field to the GY to target and destroy an opponent's monster, while "Crealtar" gives the non-Ritual members 2000 ATK and negates their effects, disabling their negative Continuous effect and allowing the usage of the Extra Deck.

The "Impcantation" archetypal Ritual Spell, "Impcantation Inception", can be used to Ritual Summon any Ritual Monster, but restricts the player into only using "Impcantation" monsters for the process, thankfully allowing them to be from the hand or field. Its second effect in the GY Special Summon of an "Impcantation" from the Deck and recovers itself from the GY, at the cost of sending an "Impcantation" card from the hand or field to the GY; this can trigger yet another "Impcantation" search or recovery effect, granting even more Ritual resources.

The "Impcantation" Field Spell, "Impcantation Thanatosis", further adds to the swarming capabilities by revealing an "Impcantation" in your hand and Special Summoning 2 more copies of it, then shuffling the revealed copy into the Deck. If a Ritual Monster is Summoned to your field while "Thanatosis" is active, either using the procedure on the card, from the GY or after being banished, you can target and destroy any 1 card on the field.

Revision as of 19:56, 14 April 2023

  • This card also works nicely with "Demise of the Land". By chaining that to the Special Summon of a monster with a field-clearing effect (such as "Demise, King of Armageddon" or "Judgment Dragon") when your opponent declares priority on the effect's activation, "Geartown" will be brought to the field just in time to be destroyed, giving yourself a free monster that can either hold off an attack or, at the very least, force them to pay the cost to use the destruction effect again.
  • Pick a copy of this card for the effect of "Magical Hats" to Special Summon at least one "Ancient Gear" monster to your field, excluding "Ancient Gear Beast", "Ancient Gear Golem" and "Ultimate Ancient Gear Golem".
  • Set "Geartown" to your opponent's side of the field with "Set Rotation". If a player can destroy the opponent's face-down "Geartown(s)", the owner of that card will get to Special Summon an "Ancient Gear" monster, without losing card advantage.
  • If there are no multiple copies of "Geartown"; "Minefieldriller" or "Z-ONE" can return it to your hand after it is destroyed.
  • If your opponent uses this card, it will be dangerous destroying it. If there is a need to destroy it, be sure to do it by activating something like "Mystical Space Typhoon" in chain, so the effect of "Geartown" won't activate because it misses the timing (see rulings). Another way is to send this card back to the hand with "Giant Trunade" or similar effects, or having something like "Bottomless Trap Hole" or "Torrential Tribute" on the field to destroy the Special Summoned monster after destroying "Geartown". Banishing this card is even better.
  • Use "Ancient Fairy Dragon" to destroy your own "Geartown", but if you search for a monster with her effect, "Geartown" will miss the timing.
    • "Ancient Fairy Dragon" can easily be Summoned by Normal Summoning "Black Salvo" with a Level 4 DARK Machine like "Mechanicalchaser" or "Toon Cannon Soldier" in your graveyard. Alternatively, "Black Rose Dragon" can be Synchro Summoned to wipe the whole field and get "Ancient Gear Gadjiltron Dragon" when "Geartown" is destroyed.
  • This card works well with "Earthbound Immortal". When "Geartown" is destroyed, causing the "Earthbound Immortal" to be destroyed, an "Ancient Gear" monster can still be Special Summoned.
  • Use "Breaker The Magical Warrior" to destroy your "Geartown" and Summon an "Ancient Gear" monster or destroy your opponent's Spell and Trap Cards.
  • Destroy this card using "Double Cyclone". "Geartown" can be destroyed, and also destroy any harmful Trap like "Bottomless Trap Hole", "Torrential Tribute" or "Mirror Force".
  • By using 2 copies of this card with "Magical Hats", either 2x Level 2 ("Ancient Gear"), 2 Level 4 ("Ancient Gear Soldier"), 2 Level 5 ("Ancient Gear Engineer"), 2 Level 6 ("Ancient Gear Gadjiltron Chimera") or 2 Level 8 ("Ancient Gear Gadjiltron Dragon") can be Summoned to allow many different Ranks of Xyz Summon.
  • The effect of "Fire King Avatar Yaksha" can be used when it is destroyed to destroy this card while it is on the field or even in your hand. Then an Ancient Gear monster can be Summoned.
  • "Chain Dispel" can be activated when this card is activated to destroy two "Geartown" in your Deck, activating their effects.
