Design

Appearance

Full-body view of Briscoe.

Briscoe is portrayed in a Western style, both in physical appearance and attire. He is a fair-skinned boy with blue eyes and caramel-blonde hair topped with a brown cowboy hat. Briscoe wears a large cream-colored tall-collared shirt with a vest over it which has dark brown shoulders and a dark pink body with tan fringes at the bottom and separating said sections, a navy blue undershirt, a soft chartreuse ascot, light brown chaps over dark brown pants, brown boots with turned-up toes, and a black belt with a gold buckle. He also carries a comically large set of tongs at his belt.

Personality

Briscoe is generally friendly and exuberant, and very passionate and proud of his barbequing skills. Despite his cowboy trappings, Briscoe himself acts in a manner somewhat similar to a samurai, speaking formally and exhibiting significant shame when he realizes that Roa Kassidy used him to help Romin Kassidy defeat Gavin Sogetsu. He is very fond of his friends, challenging Prioria Sweetalina to a Duel in retaliation for her unintentionally breaking Saburamen's heart.

In a Duel, Briscoe is akin to a grill both in play and passion, beginning at a slow pace but playing with more passion and vigor in later turns.

Etymology

Briscoe's full name in Japanese, Nick Yagi is a play on yakiniku, a Japanese term for meat cuisine that literally means "grilled meat".

His English name seems to be a combination of brisket, a type of meat, as well as the name Roscoe.

Briscoe dresses in cowboy attire, often associated with the Western genre.

Biography

Birth of Rush Duels

Saburamen told Briscoe and Sushiko about the Ramen Hut, which apparently had really tasty ramen. Briscoe and Sushiko told other people about the restaurant, which was facing a customer shortage, and their word-of-mouth soon restored the restaurant's customer base.[4]

Roa Kassidy later hired Briscoe, Saburamen and Sushiko to cater for a RoaRomin concert. Briscoe showed up on stage with Saburamen during the Duel between Gavin Sogetsu and Romin Kassidy, promoting his yakiniku to the audience.[5] After the Duel, Briscoe, Saburamen and Sushiko realized they had inadvertently aided in Gavin's defeat and they apologized to him and Yuga, though Gavin reassured them it wasn't their fault. Romin then tried to warn Yuga not to Duel Roa, though Yuga still accepted Roa's challenge. During the Duel, Roa called the legality of "Sevens Road Magician" into question after Yuga told them he had received the card from a Duelist disqualified from the 666th Goha Dueling Tournament who had taught him his current outlook. After Number 6 clarified the rules regarding illegal cards that would result in Yuga's disqualification if he drew it, Luke convinced Briscoe and the others that Yuga wouldn't cheat, as he wouldn't have wanted to make new rules if he didn't respect them. He rallied them to find information on "Sevens Road Magician", and Briscoe, Saburamen and Sushiko began asking Goha #3 Elementary students if they had heard of the card, but they were unsuccessful in finding any information.[6] Yuga drew "Sevens Road Magician", but then a Relic emerged from the ground and projected the Hologram Man, who introduced himself as Otes and revealed that he had chosen Yuga to become the King of Duels. The Goha #7 Elementary Newspaper Club then arrived and projected footage of Otes giving Yuga "Sevens Road Magician" and being disqualified, clarifying that he had been so due to being a Goha employee. Briscoe and Sushiko spied on Number 6 as she successfully accessed the card data of "Sevens Road Magician". Otes then revealed that Roa had been blocking the information on "Sevens Road Magician" and had also been at the 666th Goha Dueling Tournament when Otes gave "Sevens Road Magician" to Yuga. He asked Otes why he hadn't been chosen as King of Duels, and Yuga offered to continue the Duel with the title on the line. Yuga eventually defeated Roa, and Otes and the Relic sank into the ground again.[7]

Maximum

Some time after Yuga and Roa's Duel, Briscoe received a penalty on his Duel Disk.[8] Briscoe, Sushiko and Saburamen went to the Road Laboratory, where Yuga explained that they and all his other friends had been penalized due to his challenge by Goha Duel Overseer Nail Saionji to retrieve the data of Yuga's Drone Kaizo, and if anyone in Yuga's group of friends lost a Duel, they would all be penalized and their accounts deleted if they received six penalties. The penalty had occurred when Mimi Imimi was defeated by her son Yosh, as Mimi had inadvertently become considered one of Yuga's friends. Despite the circumstances, everyone present agreed to help Yuga, given that all of their accounts were on the line, but then Yuga, Luke and Gavin were dropped into a pit leading to the Garden of Curiosity, with Romin and Saburamen also falling in, though Briscoe was able to save Sushiko from falling in.[9]

Briscoe later received four more penalties on his Duel Disk.[10] Briscoe was with Saburamen and Sushiko when he witnessed Nail Maximum Summoning "Yggdrago the Sky Emperor", which coiled around the Goha Enterprises Main Office.[11] Briscoe watched as "Yggdrago" battled with Yuga's own Maximum Monster, "Supreme Machine Magnum Overlord", expressing relief when Yuga was able to save it by returning it to his hand to negate one of Nail's attacks. Yuga was pushed into a corner and reminded of the stakes of the match, which reminded Briscoe that due to his five penalties his account would be deleted if Yuga lost the Rush Duel. Briscoe was overjoyed when Yuga was able to re-Maximum Summon "Magnum Overlord" again, and when Yuga defeated Nail, who erased the penalties on Briscoe's Duel Disk after the Rush Duel.[12]

Goha #6 Elementary

Briscoe, Sushiko and Saburamen went to the Rush Duel Training Camp with the Duel Dinosaur Club and the Dueling Insects Club, where they met with Yuga, Luke, Romin and Gavin. Briscoe brought a vast quantity of meat and live chickens, the latter of which Luke used for training exercises for Yuga, Romin and Gavin. Briscoe catered for the camp attendees that night, cooking a massive hunk of meat over a spit roast.[13] Briscoe, Saburamen and Sushiko left the camp on the second night.[14]

Team Battle Royal

Briscoe, Saburamen and Sushiko learned about the Goha Rush Duel Team Battle Royal from Prioria Sweetalina's announcement.[15] They decided to enter the tournament as a team, attending the registration at Goha Stadium.[16] They attended the opening ceremonies of the tournament, though they were confused by the Goha President initially laughing for her opening speech until she encouraged them normally. She was challenged to a Rush Duel by Roa, who wanted to talk with the incarcerated Otes and defeated her.[17]

Briscoe, Sushiko and Saburamen made it through the first day of the tournament as the Gourmet Comrades Team.[18] On the second day of the tournament, Rino contacted them via an arrow (which hit Briscoe's hat) requesting aid for Luke, Romin and Gavin, who were trying to determine the identity behind a group calling themselves Goha 66, and Briscoe, Saburamen and Sushiko joined the Newspaper Club and Goha #7 Elementary's Post-Apocalyptic Club in coming to their aid, saving them from defeated tournament participants who had mobbed them and accompanying Luke, Romin and Gavin at Scoop Pitman's suggestion. Eventually they came across a Stonehenge made of baking that the starving Luke and Romin proceeded to gorge on, which had been made by tournament announcer Prioria Sweetalina, an underling of Goha 66 sent to oppose them. Saburamen was heartbroken upon realizing that Prioria wasn't Celestia Noodlina, who he had met and become enamored with in the Garden of Curiosity, so Briscoe accepted Prioria's challenge for breaking his friends' heart, beginning with three monsters and his "Wild Kitchen". Prioria brought out three high-Level monsters, including "Doki Doki Hexenhaus", causing Briscoe's heart to pound as well. Prioria increased the ATK of her own monsters and destroyed all of Briscoe's, reducing his LP drastically. Fired up by the Duel, Briscoe used his Spells to change Prioria's monsters to FIRE and increase their ATK, before bringing out "Shichirin Samurai - Kushiro the Skewer Master" and using its effect to destroy Prioria's monsters. Admitting that he was glad to have met Prioria, Briscoe defeated her before telling her that she had made him appreciate sweets more and asking her to grill meat with him, Prioria accepted his offer, but had to return to her era and she bid Briscoe farewell, telling him that she would never forget him. As Prioria vanished, Saburamen conforted Briscoe in his grief.[2]

Briscoe, Saburamen, Sushiko, Romin, Luke and Gavin continued on to the Abandoned Dorm, reaching it after Romin and Luke swam off their food when they fell into a river. However when they arrived they were opposed by Tyler Getz, Toombs and Kaizo, now working for Goha 66. Kaizo had joined Goha 66 in revenge for his mistreatment by Yuga and Luke and challenged Luke to a Duel. Luke was able to successfully destroy Kaizo's recovered Trap Card and defeat him, and after the Duel Briscoe, Sushiko and Saburamen examined Kaizo's new robot body, and Briscoe realized that Kaizo had escaped and alerted the others. Luke disabled Kaizo and they brought him into Maximum Mountain where they found the Heavy Cavalry Duel Club and Luke's sister Tiger having defeated the members of Goha 66, and Luke used Kaizo's confession switch to force him to reveal that Goha 66 were trying to take over the main Dueling server and subsequently Goha Enterprises and the Dueling world; the server itself being buried in Maximum Mountain.[19] Briscoe was surprised that Asana Mutsuba hadn't realized she knew Luke from her childhood and watched as Tiger yelled everyone who spoke up into a wall as she wanted to settle a childhood rivalry with Asana; Briscoe clamming up when Tiger asked if anyone else wanted to interrupt. Briscoe watched the ensuing Rush Duel, where Tiger and Asana settled their rivalry after learning that Asana had separated from Tiger while they were trying to find a missing Luke in their youth to rescue Schubel Quill and Pidgetrap. After Asana defeated Tiger, Tiger yelled Luke into a wall that shattered to reveal the supposed main server, but Kaizo revealed that it was too small to be the server Goha 66 sought.[20]

Briscoe, Saburamen and Sushiko attended the finals of the Goha Rush Duel Team Battle Royal the next day, watching Romin's victory against Roa and Gavin's Duel against Nail and his new "DJ G" persona. Faced with "Yggdrago the Sky Emperor", Gavin eventually returned to his normal persona after a power outage in the stadium and forced a DRAW, leaving Yuga and Luke to have a final Duel.[21][22]

Briscoe watched Yuga and Luke's Rush Duel, where the power in the stadium began to fail again, revealed to be due to the Goha Duel Server being hacked, and Briscoe witnessed the revelation of the Goha Duel Server on the moon and the Rush Duel Program contained within, under attack by Goha Enterprises Drones that were uninstalling it and had been all tournament.[23] Despite knowing their Duel would complete the uninstallation, Yuga and Luke continued to Duel. Briscoe applauded when Luke eventually won, resulting in the uninstallation of Rush Dueling, but Yuga and Nail were able to reinstall the program and install it in the Super Rush Robot to protect it from another attack. Briscoe then watched Luke's coronation as King of Duels.[24]

Goha 6 Siblings

The true Goha Presidents, the Goha Six, returned to Earth, evicted the current Goha President, Mimi Imimi, and challenged Yuga and his friends to Rush Duels with the Super Rush Robot held hostage by Forcersizers that would shake it apart unless Yuga defeated the six siblings.[25] Briscoe was in Goha City one night with Saburamen, Sushiko and the Post-Apocalyptic Club when he watched the Rush Duel between Yuga and The Lukeman, including Yuo Goha's rage after he believed Yuga and The Lukeman weren't taking the Duel seriously. To Briscoe's shock a meteor entered the atmosphere and plunged towards Yuga, having been dragged in by the Goha Meteor Shower, and Yuga blocked the meteor with his Duel Disk, acquiring the "Fusion" card contained within it and using it to defeat The Lukeman, saving the Super Rush Robot.[26]

Deck

Briscoe plays a Yakiniku Deck, composed of FIRE Attribute Beast Type monsters. The Deck focuses on power through buffing the ATK of his monsters with a variety of Spell Cards, including a combo of "Attribute Shift Bomb" and "B・B・Q", letting him further increase ATK based on the number of FIRE Attribute monsters on the field.
