Parallel Rare (パラレル Parareru, or simply Parallel) is a class of rarities in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Official Card Game and Trading Card Game.
The key feature of Parallel Rare cards is the reflective coating that covers the entire card face. This coating tends to stiffen the card. When scanned, the coating creates a uniform haze on the card.
Due to applying to the whole card uniformly, the Parallel Rare coating is typically combined with other rarities to create hybrid rarities. There are Parallel Rare variants of many basic rarities (Common, Super Rare, Ultra Rare, Secret Rare, Holographic Rare) as well as one special rarity (Extra Secret Rare). All Duel Terminal cards use special Duel Terminal Parallel Rare coating which has a different appearance to the standard Parallel Rare coating.
