Yusei Fudo and Bolt Tanner's Duel

Yusei Fudo and Bolt Tanner's Duel is the sixth Duel of the Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's anime, conducted between Yusei Fudo and Bolt Tanner.

Prior events[edit]

Tanner defeated Yanagi in a Duel that would prove where Yanagi ranked in The Facility. Disgusted by Yanagi's low-level Dueling, Tanner stamped on his cards, but Yusei kicked his leg out from under him and warned Tanner not to disrespect other Duelists' cards. He asked to Duel Tanner himself, using Yanagi's Deck, in order to prove that no card was worthless.

The Duel[edit]

Turn 1: Tanner
Tanner Normal Summons "Jirai Gumo" (2200/100). Tanner Sets two cards.

Turn 2: Yusei
Yusei's hand contains "Ashoka Pillar", "Stonehenge", "Spirit Mask", "Curse Reflection Doll" and "Crystal Skull". Yusei draws "Triangle O". Yusei Normal Summons "Crystal Skull" (0/0) in Defense Position. As "Crystal Skull" was Summoned, its effect activates, inflicting 1000 damage to the player who Summoned it, but as damage would be inflicted by a card effect, Yusei activates the Quick-Play Spell "Curse Reflection Doll", making that damage become 0, then inflicting damage to Tanner equal to the amount of damage that would have been inflicted. The effect of "Crystal Skull" resolves (Tanner: 4000 → 3000 LP).

Turn 3: Tanner
Tanner draws "Ushi Oni". Tanner Tributes "Jirai Gumo" to Tribute Summon "Ushi Oni" (2150/1950). Tanner Tributes "Ushi Oni" to Special Summon "Giant Ushi Oni" (2600/2100) from his hand by its own effect. "Giant Ushi Oni" attacks and destroys "Crystal Skull". As "Giant Ushi Oni" destroyed Yusei's monster by battle, its effect activates, allowing it to attack again in a row. "Giant Ushi Oni" attacks Yusei directly (Yusei: 4000 → 1400 LP).

Turn 4: Yusei
Yusei Normal Summons "Ashoka Pillar" (0/2200) in Defense Position. Yusei activates the Equip Spell "Stonehenge", targeting a monster with 0 ATK in his Graveyard, Special Summoning it and equipping it with "Stonehenge". He targets and Special Summons "Crystal Skull" (0/0) in Defense Position, then equips "Stonehenge" to it. As "Crystal Skull" was Summoned, its effect activates, inflicting 1000 damage to the player who Summoned it (Yusei: 1400 → 400 LP). Yusei Sets a card.

Turn 5: Tanner
Tanner's Set cards are "Trap Hole" and "Spiderweb Castle". Tanner draws "Nobleman of Crossout". "Giant Ushi Oni" attacks "Ashoka Pillar". As Tanner's monster declared an attack on a monster, Yusei activates his face-down Continuous Trap "Totem Pole" and activates its effect, negating the attack. As Yusei activated a Trap Card, Tanner activates his face-down Continuous Trap "Spiderweb Castle". The effect of "Spiderweb Castle" halves the ATK of all of Yusei's attacking monsters. The effect of "Totem Pole" resolves and the attack of "Giant Ushi Oni" is negated. Tanner Sets a card. Tanner's Set cards are "Trap Hole" and "Mirror Force".

Turn 6: Yusei
Yusei draws and subsequently activates the Spell "Piri Reis Map", adding a monster with 0 ATK from his Deck to his hand, but if Yusei Summons that monster, he halves his Life Points. He adds and subsequently Normal Summons "Cabrera Stone" (0/0) (Yusei: 400 → 200 LP). As Yusei controls a face-up "Crystal Skull", "Ashoka Pillar", and "Cabrera Stone", he activates the Spell "Triangle O", destroying all cards on the field, then Tanner takes any damage that would be inflicted by the effects of those destroyed cards. "Crystal Skull", "Ashoka Pillar", "Cabrera Stone", "Triangle O", "Stonehenge", "Totem Pole", "Spiderweb Castle", "Giant Ushi Oni", and Tanner's two Set cards are destroyed. As "Ashoka Pillar" was destroyed, its effect activates, inflicting 2000 damage to its controller (Tanner: 3000 → 1000 LP). As "Cabrera Stone" was destroyed, its effect activates, inflicting 1000 damage to its controller (Tanner: 1000 → 0 LP).

Aftermath[edit]

Tanner was impressed by Yusei's skills and the passion the Duel had made him feel, and he apologized to Yanagi for mistreating his cards. He befriended Yusei and Yanagi, expressing his wish to take Yusei to the Pro League after they got out of the Facility.
