"Predaplant", known as "Predator Plants" (捕食植物 Puredetā Purantsu) in Japan and "Predator Plant" in the English manga, is an archetype of DARK Plant monsters used by Yuri in the Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V anime and manga. The archetype is a sub-archetype of the "Predap" archetype.

Design
Appearance
The monsters are largely based on carnivorous plants, carrion flowers, and/or carnivorous animals. Appearance wise, some "Predaplant" monsters have leaf-like mouth parts lined with thorn-like teeth, while their vine-like appendages resemble hands with thorn-like claws; the others have plant and animal characteristics. However, some Predaplant monsters are not based on carnivorous plants or carrion flowers; "Cordyceps" is based on a parasitic fungus with the same name, "Ophrys Scorpio" is based on a type of orchid whose flowers mimic female bees to fool males into pollinating them, "Banksiogre" is based on a genus of wildflower endemic to Australia, and "Spider Orchid" is based on one of the most popular orchids in the trade.

Etymology
The names of each monster is a hybridization of an animal and a plant. One of the words used is typically the Latin taxonomic name. The Level 5 and higher monsters are named after mythical creatures (chimera, dragon, hydra) and the revealed Fusion Monsters are named after carrion flowers instead of carnivorous plants. Four "Predaplant" monsters, however, don't seem to follow this trend; "Cordyceps" is based on a fungus, "Ophrys Scorpio" and "Spider Orchid" are based on two different orchids, and "Banksiogre" is based on an Australian wildflower.

Playing style
"Predap" decks focus on swarming "Predaplant" monsters to Fusion Summon their boss Fusion Monsters for huge damage, destruction and disruption, while placing Predator Counters on the opposing monsters to cripple the opponent and provide additional advantage to the user. Most significantly, the deck has a focus on using the opponent's monsters as tributes or Fusion Materials, fueling the player's own plays while removing opposing monsters.
==Playing style==One of the most important members of the archetype is "Predaplant Ophrys Scorpio" which can Special Summon other "Predaplant" monsters from the Deck, with the most important choice being "Cobra" which then lets the user search a "Polymerization" or " focus largely on an aggressive Fusion" Spell. This is a useful engine that is utilized in decks oustide of pure "Predap" decks. The combo can only be used once per Duel but it is very potent, setting up either a Link Summon for or a huge damage Rank 3 Xyz Summon alongside a Fusion Summon from cards like "Brilliant Fusion" and destruction, while using "Instant Fusion".  "Predator CountersPredaplant Sarraceniant on " acts as an emergency wall as it can be Special Summoned from the hand when the opposing opponent makes a direct attack, can take down monstersthat battle it and lets the player search a "Predap" card should it be sent to the GY. The "Predap"/"Predaplant" archetype is highly searchable with "Predaplant Ambulomelides", "Predaplant Byblisp", Predaplant Sarraceniant", making them "Predapractice" and "Predaplanet". Monsters with Predator Counters become Level 1 Monsters to which can hinder opposing Ritual, Synchro and Xyz Summons or other Level-based Play dependent plays. On the other hand, the user's "Predaplant" monsters are able to apply/activate most of their effects that require monsters with Predator Counters such as "Predaplant Byblisp" and punishes opponents for having them"Predaplant Heliamphorhynchus" being able to Special Summon themselves while there are monsters with Predator Counters. "Predaplanet" punishes the opponent for losing is useful to keep in order to maintain card advantage each time a monster with Predator Counters by letting a player add a inevitably leave the field. "Predap" cards which are effective in placing Predator Counters on monsters include "Predaplant Banksiogre", "Predaplant Spinodionaea", "Predaplant Squid Drosera", "Predaplanning" and "PredapPredaplast" card to their hands.
The most notable effects of the user's "Predaplant Chlamydosundew" is simply an extra "monsters that interact with opposing monsters with Predator Counters are those that are able to remove opposing monsters with Predator Counters (particularly troublesome monsters that are otherwise diffcult to remove) by Tributingthem for Special Summoning " when on the Field; one that can also use an opposing Monster with a Predator Counter on it as a DARKPredaplant Banksiogre " or "Fusion MaterialPredaplant Drosophyllum Hydra" or as part of some "Predaplant" monsters' effects, making as well as using the Fusion Summon of "opposing monsters as Starving Venom Fusion DragonMaterial" and with "Predaplant ChimerafflesiaChlamydosundew" easier, as well as potentially getting rid of an opponent's problematic monster.
Some "Predap" card effects generally support the Fusion Summon of DARK Fusion Monsters. The "Predaplant" Fusion Monsters range from being powerful Lonefire Blossombeatsticks to having potent disruption effects that interact well with Predator Counters. "Predaplant Chimerafflesia" can Special Summon another copy steal some ATK of itself a monster when it attacks and can also banish low-Level monsters (i.e. monsters with a Level having Predator Counters), while being able to search a "Fusion" or "Polymerization" Spell should it be used in combination with sent to the GY. "Miracle FertilizerPredaplant Dragostapelia" (Does not matter if the effect is only used once) to setup can place Predator Counters on monsters at anytime while also negating the Graveyard for activated effects like of monsters while they have Predator Counters. "Soul ChargePredaplant Triphyoverutum" can negate Extra Deck Special Summons, become a powerful beatstick while more monsters on the field have Predator Counters and it can revive itself from the GY. "Predaplant Ambulomeliodes" can be used to swarm search or recover "Predap" cards and can Special Summon "Predaplants" from the fieldDeck.
"Predaplants" have a useful engine in Other DARK Fusion Monsters worth considering are those from the form of "Predaplant Ophrys ScorpioFusion Dragon" and archetype, whose members are either related or are also members/support of "Predap", effectively serving as the deck's boss monsters. Although "Predaplant Darlingtonia CobraStarving Venom Fusion Dragon"; is not a "Ophrys ScorpioPredap" card, it can Special Summon "Darlingtonia Cobra" directly from the Deck, triggering the effect of the latter still be easily Summoned due to search its material requirements that can be facilated in a "PolymerizationPredap" or "Fusion" Spell Card. The combo can only be used once per Duel, but deck and is very just as potent; setting up either of a Fusion Summon, beatstick and a Link Summonpiece of disruption as the "Predaplant" members. Its two upgraded counterparts, or a Rank 3 Xyz Summon and a Fusion Summon from cards like "Brilliant Greedy Venom FusionDragon" and "Instant Starving Venom Predapower FusionDragon", have powerful effects that can negate cards' effects and can revive themselves should they be destroyed.
As per the with most New Master RulePlantdecks, the Deck loses its fast Fusion "Lonefire Blossom" is just as useful for Summoning power, causing them to slow down. However, the needed "Predaplant" Fusion Monsters are relatively strong on their ownmonsters.

Weakness
* This archetype relies on Special Summoning, so cards like "Vanity's Emptiness" will slow the archetype down.
* Cards that take advantage of a Player player controlling low-Level monster will backfire.
* "Predaplant" cards are reliant on Predator Counters for their effects. Cards such as "Counter Cleaner" or using the affected monsters as Materials/Tribute will effectively clean them off.
** Especially Link Summon, which hardly care about the Level of the Link Materials.
* Predator Counters does not have much effect on Xyz Monsters s and Link Monsters, as they do not have Levels, but they do hinder Xyz Summons s by changing the levels of the potential Xyz Materialsmaterials, except for a Rank 1 Monster.** Regardless, Predator Counters can still be used on Xyz or Link Monsters those monsters for effects such as "Predaplanet" and "Predaplant Chlamydosundew".* Pure "Predap" decks typically can't make use of non-Fusion Monsters in their Extra Deck despite having one Link Monster due to "Predapractice".Archseries navbox
