Later on, the "Reptilianne" archetype was introduced, taking a new spin on the control concept by replacing Counters with various effects that drop opposing monsters straight to 0 ATK, then using other effects to remove or even take control of those monsters.

Reptile "Worms" archetype was later added, this time focusing on flip effects which affect the enemies.

Alligator monsters also brings a beatdown theme to Reptile decks

Reptiles gain no boost from any Field Spell Card; however, Aliens do get a helping hand from "Otherworld - The "A" Zone" , while Venoms benefit from "Venom Swamp".

Archetypes include "Alien", "Venom", "Worm", "Reptilianne", and Alligator monsters, "Gagagigo", plus its transformations and the Attribute Reptiles. Although Reptile-Type monsters are predominantly EARTH and WATER monsters, there are many DARK reptile monsters.

The strongest Reptiles in terms of original ATK are "Gogiga Gagagigo"/"Gagagigo the Risen", both at 2950 ATK. Other notable Reptiles are "Sinister Serpent", "Balloon Lizard", "Reptilianne Vaskii", "Granadora", "Serpentine Princess", "Evil Dragon Ananta" ", "Cosmic Fortress Gol'Gar", "Vennominon the King of Poisonous Snakes", "Vennominaga the Deity of Poisonous Snakes" and "Earthbound Immortal Ccarayhua". In addition, one of the Planet Series Monsters, The Tyrant Neptune is a Reptile.


Support cards include: "Offering to the Snake Deity", "Snake Rain", "Snake Whistle", "Rise of the Snake Deity", "Snake Fang" "Damage = Reptile", "Razor Lizard", "Molting Escape" and "Alien Brain"
