"The Flow of Magic Power" (りょくながMaryoku no Nagare) is the second chapter of the Magistus arc of the Yu-Gi-Oh! OCG Stories manga, and the twenty-first chapter of the series overall. It was first published on February 21, 2024, in the V Jump magazine.

A week before their battle against Zoroa, the three sages are conducting their own researches over different aspects of magic in the village of Graybeard. One day, the residents wake up to strange shadows moving over the ground and the river dried up, which the orphan Crowley identifies as related to his field: magic flowing from another world.

Summary

Aleister Crowley, Endymion, and Rilliona who have each achieved the status of Magistus prepare for battle with Zoroa, who has similarly become a Magistus. The story then flashes back to explain how they ended up in that situation.

One week earlier, Crowley, accompanied by Korozo climbed up a rock formation onto a plateau with a flowery meadow. Crowley makes a note to remember the place. He can significantly feel the flow of mana, which he attributes to it being springtime. He draws a symbol onto a piece of paper and lets it blow away. Afterwards mana gathers in a circle around it. Crowley tells Korozo that they might be able to gather the mana and pull off some impressive magic. However Korozo gets worried as too much mana comes together and causes an explosion-like reaction.

Meanwhile at Endymion's residence, Endymion has a disc with a pentagram symbol on it floating above the top apex a bi-pyramid. Above the disc is some mana. He thinks to himself that if they can successfully crystalize mana anyone will be able to use magic when they need to for as long as they need. He tries to stay focused on crystalizing the mana and it begins to reshape. However it suddenly explodes and his bi-pyramid structure topples to one side. Looking at his door, he hears Crowley's voice and blames what just happened on him.

Rilliona draws magic from a gem

At Rilliona's residence, Rilliona floats midair concentrating on a gem floating above her hands. She says that everyone thinks that her research is just looking at gems all day. However with her magical abilities, she can draw a lot of magical energy from stones, even as small as the one in front of her. She causes the stone to react and a flame becomes briefly visible inside. However something happens to the stone.

Again at Endymion's residence, Endymion is conducting the same experiment only for the mana to explode again and the bi-pyramid to topple in the opposite direction. This time he hears Rilliona's voice coming from his door and suspects she is responsible.

Crowley makes his way home, feeling bad for the damage he caused to the field of flowers. Crowley is introduced to the reader and the creature that accompanies him is introduced as Koroza, a spirit only visible to him. Due to Koroza's invisibility, Crowely is often mistook as talking to himself, he explains as a passerby looks at him confused.

Crowley arrives at his hometown, Graybeard. He explains that it is a town full of spellcasters. Since wielding magic is regarded as suspicious, they are viewed as troublemakers throughout the world. So Zoroa and Spoon built the town as a haven for them. Both Zoroa and Spoon are present as a feast takes place.

At the feast, Endymion scolds Crowley and Rilliona for causing his vital experiment to fail twice. Rilliona suggests that Endymion should be nicer as he is king. However Endymion denies that he is or ever will be king, as he has already abdicated his succession rights to his younger brother. He is called a fool for giving up that position, but he insists that his only concern is improving the lives of the people and that is best done by pursuing his magical research. Spoon says that he has a noble soul for thinking about the people having given up the throne. Endymion replies "They say you were of royal lineage too".

Crowley asks those present if they have felt that the flow of mana has become much more unstable recently. However Endymion quips that he should pay more attention to the flow of the conversation than that of magic. And asks what sort of research he has been doing wandering around all day, anyway. Crowley is delighted that he asked and claims that he is studying "invocation summoning magic"; that he follows the path of mana that flows into this world and summons forth spirits from another world. Endymion questions his implication of there being another world. Crowley explains that according to his research there are two types of mana; one that forms from life energy and one that flows into this world from another. Spoon is impressed by Crowley's research, but Endymion thinks the ideas of another world and summoning spirits are ridiculous. However Crowley is certain they do exist, citing Korozo as an example of such a spirit, which Endymion dismisses as being an imaginary animal.

Zoroa feels there is no need for Endymion to snap back so hard, as he thinks it is great that all kinds of research are taking place. He says that since nobody knows the full extent of magic, anything is possible. Spoon reaffirms and adds that "as long as magic is being used for the good of people" and asks Crowley if that was something his grandfather used to say, but then realizes that Crowley and Koroza have fallen asleep.

Crowley as a baby, in the forest, being protectedby Coroza

Endymion sighs and asks just where Crowley came from anyway. Spoon explains that he was found alone in a forest and nobody knows where he is originally from. Rilliona thinks he must have done a pretty good job surviving and Spoon says that he heard Koroza protected him as a baby for days on end, until he was found by a retired scholar, who brought him up. Rilliona realizes that the scholar must be the "grandfather" that Spoon mentioned earlier. Spoon thinks Crowley got a good upbringing and turned into an honest young man with no grudges against the world. Endymion considers him to have been lucky to have been found by a person who was not biased against magic. Upon the passing of his grandfather, Crowley was brought to Graybeard.

A flashback show Crowley when he was younger, accompanied by his grandfather. The grandfather urges Crowley to listen carefully as he informs him that special powers depend entirely on the wielder and can be used for good or bad. So if spellcasters continue to work for the good of the people, one day the world will look differently upon them.

The morning after Crowley fell asleep in front of Spoon and Endymion, he is woken up in bed by Koroza causing a commotion. He sees some strange tadpole like items floating around. As Crowley leaves the house, he is approached by Endymion and Rilliona who know that he has sensed something. Endymion and Rilliona follow Crowley across a bridge, noting that the stream below it has dried up. They head deeper into the forest to where there should be a small spring.

At the spring, which has completely dried up, mana with the tadpole-like shapes is coming out of a hole. Crowley states that this is not mana of this world. He draws the same symbol he drew earlier into his notebook again and tears out the page and announces that he is going to try to suck up all the mana with his magical circle. However this causes the tadpole-like shapes to gather together and fuse into a monster, which he identifies as a spirit from another world. As the monster attacks them, Crowley gloats that he was right in telling Endymion that such spirits exist, but Endymion tells him to at least show some remorse for making the situation worse.

Coroza changes form

Endymion and Rilliona identify the spirit as hostile and resolve that they must destroy it. Endymion casts his "Magia Magic, Thor's Hammer" and Rilliona casts her "Verre Magic, Lacrima of Light". However the magic ultimately have no effect on the other-world creature. Coroza then flies right past the trio and intercepts a magical blast the spirit aimed at them. Using its "Magic Absorption", it draws all the other-world mana into itself, causing the spirit to disappear and Koroza to change form into a larger darker version creature.

Zoroa shows up just as Coroza reverts to its original form and collapses into Crowley's hands.

The narration says that they were saved thanks to Coroza's power, but they had no way of knowing the events that were about to transpire.
