Yu-Gi-Oh! CARD GAME THE CHRONICLES is a special 6-minute animation produced by KONAMI animation to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Official Card Game. It was first shown during a livestream of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters: The Legend of Duelist Quarter Century event on February 3rd, 2024, and serves as demo reel for the studio, whose existence was officially announced at the end of the video itself. At the end of the livestream, the animation was uploaded to the official YouTube channels of Konami and the OCG; it later was also made available on the main TCG channel on the 5th and the European one on the 6th.

It consists of 8 main clips (which were also uploaded separately on the Japanese and European channels) and several minor clips, which feature OCG-original cards from various fan-favorite themes (apart from the intro) and are set to various renditions of "Passionate Duelists".

Video[edit]

This is the animation's upload on the Official Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME channel.

Summary[edit]

Intro clip (untitled)[edit]

"Dark Magician" and "Dark Magician Girl" take notice of a glowing orb of light, which soon flies away. The pair pursues the orb, encountering "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" and "Red-Eyes Black Dragon" along the way before all four monsters vanish into a void resembling the card backing of a TCG/OCG card.

Maiden with Eyes of Blue and Azure-Eyes Silver Dragon[edit]

Walking across the "Dragon Shrine", "Maiden with Eyes of Blue" summons "Azure-Eyes Silver Dragon" behind her.

The Spirit Charmers[edit]

"Hiita", "Eria", "Aussa", and "Wynn" cast elemental spells accompanied by both their original and new familiars, before they unite their powers into a new Spiritual Art. The scene then cuts to "Dharc the Dark Charmer" and "Meda Bat" sitting among ruins, and then to "Lyna the Light Charmer" running down a path with "Happy Lover".

The Third Ice Dragon, Trishula Unleashed[edit]

"Dai-sojo of the Ice Barrier", "Medium of the Ice Barrier", and "Geomancer of the Ice Barrier" gather around the icy prison of "Trishula, Dragon of the Ice Barrier" in an attempt to unseal it. The glowing Ice Barrier crests making up its cage crack as "Trishula" awakens.

Melffys of the Joyous Forest[edit]

"Melffy Rabby" joins its friends in the forest for a meal. After picking up an apple and taking several bites out of it, "Rabby" gets up close to the screen, staring at the viewer.

During this clip, "Passionate Duelists" is rendered as children's cartoon-like music.

The Divine Arsenal AA-Zeus - Sky Thunder[edit]

"Divine Arsenal AA-ZEUS - Sky Thunder" demonstrates its destructive artillery by annihilating a fleet of spaceships surrounding it, before sensing the presence of its enemy "Super Starslayer TY-PHON - Sky Crisis", which appears to emerge from a wormhole. The two machines then battle against each other, culminating in "ZEUS" unleashing one final attack using its twin shoulder-mounted cannons.

During this clip, "Passionate Duelists" is rendered as rock-like music.

The Legendary Six Samurai![edit]

The "Gateway of the Six" opens, introducing the Legendary Six Samurai. "Mizuho" brandishes her blades, "Shinai" shatters the ground with his kanabō, and "Kageki" unleashes lightning from his swords. In "Shien's Dojo", "Enishi" and "Kizan" clash their blades, as their younger "Legendary" selves, and eventually as their current, older counterparts. Meanwhile, "Shi En" stands amidst purple flames, apparently after a successful conquest.

During this clip, "Passionate Duelists" is rendered as traditional Japanese music.

Live☆Twin is... Evil★Twin?[edit]

In the midst of a livestream, online personalities "Ki-sikil" and "Lil-la" receive a message. Both of them sign out, revealing that the women behind the avatars are a pair of thieves. After materializing their demon-themed holographic outfits, the duo sets off to commit crimes while evading the police and fleeing into the night.

During this clip, "Passionate Duelists" is rendered as synth music.

Fallen of Albaz[edit]

From a tower in the "Dogmatika Nation", "Ecclesia" looks on as a portal to another world opens up and a dragon falls out of it. "Fleurdelis" is quick to act and fells the dragon in one blow, wounding its left eye. As it crashes to the ground, "Ecclesia" leaves the tower and searches the ruins outside the city, finding the dragon stirring before it changes its form to that of a humanoid boy, clutching his now-scarred face. "Ecclesia", with her hammer in hand, is stunned for a moment but quickly appears to ready herself to strike the boy down herself.

Minor clips (untitled)[edit]

See below for the full list. These are single animated shots per theme rather than the fully-animated scenes prior. "Solfachord" the Ensemble of Happiness is a fully-animated curtain call and the credits roll afterward.

Sky Striker (untitled post-credit scene)[edit]

Raye walks through a desert, meeting Roze standing on top of a rock formation. After a stare-down, Roze leaps down from her vantage point and engages Raye in a sword fight.

No music plays during this clip.
