The Shonen Jump Championship Series was the premiere Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game tournament series that was run from 2004 to 2010, when Konami took over the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game and replaced them with the Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series. The Shonen Jump Championship Series was sponsored by Shonen Jump.

DistributionEdit

From December 2004 to July 2007 (SJC-EN001 to SJCS-EN004), 2 copies were distributed at each event: 1 copy for the tournament winner; and 1 copy for the winner of the side event.[1][2][3][4] From July 2007 to the final event in May 2010 (SJC-EN005 to SJC-EN007), 4 copies were distributed at each event: 1 copy each for first, second, and third place; and 1 copy for the winner of the side event.[5][6]

Uniquely, at the 50th Shonen Jump Championship, held from March 8–9, 2008 in Costa Mesa, California, United States, a total of five copies of the prize card "Doomcaliber Knight" were distributed: 1 copy for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th places; and 1 copy for the winner of the side event. Additionally, 15 copies each of the previous 5 prize cards were distributed: The first place player received 1 regular copy of each of the five cards, as well as 1 copy of each encased inside a championship trophy. Of the remaining 5 copies (one of each prize card), the second, third and fourth placed players (based on Swiss record for third and fourth) each got to choose one of the cards (with second place choosing first, and so on); the remaining 2 copies were distributed to the two finalists for Best Side-Events Player, with the runner-up getting to choose their card first (due to the winner already getting "Doomcaliber Knight").[7]

Many of these cards were distributed at Upper Deck Day, a event run by Upper Deck Entertainment that was held from February 7–8, 2009 at 63 locations across the United States and Canada. At each location, the first place player received a copy of "Gold Sarcophagus", the second place player received a copy of "Shrink", and the third place player received a copy of "Des Volstgalph".[8] "Cyber-Stein" was also distributed at these events, despite not being announced in advance. In addition, for the Upper Deck Day Volunteer drawing, 2 copies of "Crush Card Virus" and 20 copies of "Doomcaliber Knight" were distributed.[9]
