Strike Dragon (げきりゅう Gekiryū) is a series of Dragon Type monsters used by Lucidien Kallister (and his manga counterpart) in the Yu-Gi-Oh! SEVENS anime and manga, and Tatsumi Azuma in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Rush Duel LP manga.

Design

The Strike Dragon monsters resemble bipedal dragons, each with their own design quirk in reference to their own title and origin.

Three of the dragons that originate in the Yu-Gi-Oh! SEVENS anime are notable for being Luke's most prominent recurring trump cards. Each of these three possess a number of glowing spheres in their bodies (including their eyes) and star lights in the background of their artworks equal to their own Level. These Strike Dragons are "Multistrike Dragon Dragias", "Illusion Strike Dragon Miragias", and "Steel Strike Dragon Metagias". Each of these also has a Fusion Monster evolution by fusing with "The Dragon", in respective order, "Hyperstrike Dragon Dragiastar F", "Hazy Strike Dragon Miragiastar F", and "Sturdy Strike Dragon Metagiastar F".

In the Yu-Gi-Oh! SEVENS Luke! Explosive Supremacy Legend!! manga, "Nullstrike Dragon Zerogias" and the related monster "Cladsoul Dragon Gaigias" are introduced. Both of them share a morbid, uncanny design resembling lanky humanoids with dragon heads. Both of them can also fuse together to form "Void Strike Dragon Zerogaigias".

Other than that, "Piercing Dragon Bunker Strike" from the anime and "Great Multistrike Dragon Dragias Burst" from the manga are outliers who don't share a design with the rest of their media peers.

Playing style

Every Strike Dragon monster, except their Fusion evolutions, "Piercing Dragon Bunker Strike", and "Great Multistrike Dragon Dragias Burst", is a Level 7 Dragon with 2500 ATK and 1500 DEF, as well as an effect that grants it an additional attack. The original, "Multistrike Dragon Dragias", has only the cost of sending the top card of the Deck to the Graveyard, making it the easiest to use; every other has the cost of sending another Level 7 or higher Dragon from the hand to the Graveyard in exchange for an additional effect:

Except for "Dragias", none of them can use their second attack to attack directly.

All of these give the Deck extremely high aggression and One Turn Kill potential, as well as a versatile toolbox of effects to respond to the current board state. "Zerogias" is easily the most reliable of the three, very effective in almost any situation except when faced with a Maximum Monster. "Metagias" is the safest, being protected from Traps such as "Dark Revelation", and from being destroyed by ATK-reducing battle Traps such as "Phantom Bind". "Miragias" is the most aggressive, but is very situational, only able to reach its full potential against a full board that has no Level 8 monsters. "Phoenix Dragon" is very important to access the toolbox, turning any card in the hand into any high-Level Dragon from the Graveyard, which can also help set up the discard cost for each Strike Dragon's effect.

As a Strike Dragon Deck needs to use many high-Level Dragons, it can benefit from using various others with effects that cover its weaknesses: "Ancient Arise Dragon" is a reliable way to remove high-ATK monsters without needing a discard; "Shock Dragon" can take down Maximum Monsters; and "Dragonic Slayer" can clear out opposing Spells/Traps each turn to stop the opponent's defense.

Other notable support cards include "Dragonic Pressure", which can clear out any opposing field, and "Vengeful Dragon's Counterattack", which punishes the opponent for retaliating. Between "Shock Dragon" and "Dragonic Pressure", the Deck's ability to easily destroy Maximum Monsters is one of its greatest strengths. "QWERTY Keyblade" can also give all of the primary attacking Strike Dragons (except "Dragias") the ability to pierce, enabling them to consistently inflict battle damage despite the direct attack restriction on their effects.

"Blue-Eyes White Dragon" is a synergistic Legend Card: other than the power given by its inherently high ATK, "Blue-Eyes" is recyclable with "Phoenix Dragon" and is another high-Level Dragon to discard to activate each Strike Dragon's effect.
