"Rush Duel - Duel of the Rush", known in Japan as "Daor of the Rush" is the eighty-second episode of the Yu-Gi-Oh! SEVENS anime. It first aired in Japan on January 16, 2022. It will air in America on August 19, 2023.

Gavin has lost all his memories about Rush Duels and the days he spent with his friends. In order to help him regain his memories, Yuga and co. try to recreate the day Rush Duels were born. And thus, Daor of the Rush, the first movie directed by Lucidien Kallister, will now premiere!

Summary

Following the destruction of the Duel Card Manufacturer and the three "Monster Reborns", Galian, Schubel, Pidgetrap and Seatbastian are shocked when Yuga calls them to the Road Laboratory to inform them. Yuga believes that was a good thing, much to everyone's surprise, clarifying that a card which can manipulate people's hearts and minds shouldn't exist at all, though Galian and Schubel worry over Asana's lost memories, Seatbastian is despondant over Nail's, Kaizo is still sobbing over Romin and Rayne and Rino both worry over Gavin's, fearing they can't do anything. But Yuga believes this isn't the end and Luke agrees, asking who said they can't do anything without using "Monster Reborn" (Kaizo points out that Luke did). Rayne asks what their plan is and Luke suggests remaking everyone's memories if they can't restore them. He claims that Gavin, Romin, Asana and Nail should experience Rush Dueling and their encounters with Yuga again from the start, and Galian asks if he means rebuilding new memories. Luke confirms he does and Rayne asks what his plan is; Luke declares they'll recreate the birth of Rush Dueling and have them experience it again. Seatbastian asks if he means a re-enactment and Luke proudly confirms that he does, much to everyone's dismay.

Luke quickly dons a director's hat and sunglasses, appointing himself the director of the new blockbuster "Daor of the Rush" and explaining he's already written the script. Seatbastian, Schubel, Pidgetrap and Galian look over the script, which describes Yuga as shaking like a little puppy when Gavin caught him trying to install Rush Dueling, while Rino skepitcally asks Rayne if they're really going to do this. Kaizo points out that they'll need to enact another Real-Time Duel Programming in front of The Relic and Luke shoves him out of the way as he realizes they'll need Otes's help. Unfortunately, he's nowhere to be found when they go to the Hologram Man's chamber, and Rayne reminds them that Swirls stole his memories too. Luke grumbles over Otes never being useful when they need him and Kaizo worries they won't be able to re-enact the scene without Otes, though Seatbastian points out they'd need to "recast" other people too. Luke tells him not to worry about that.

He holds auditions for the role of Otes at the Road Laboratory, eventually deciding he sees the soul of Otes in the eyes of Seatbtastian, much to the massage Drone's shock. Next Luke picks Yuga's classmates, deciding on Schubel (much to Pidgetrap's irritation). He has a surprisingly hard time deciding on the role for the Goha Corporation Drone between Kaizo and Pidgetrap, despite Yuga pointing out this should be easy, and even tries to hold an audition for Yuga (and nominates himself for the role) until Rayne reminds them Yuga's still here. She raises another problem; Romin was only at the birth of Rush Dueling because Roa had ordered her to spy on Yuga, and when Luke believes they'll be able to ask Roa to order Romin to spy on Yuga, Rayne reminds him that Roa lost his memories too. Luke panics, and he quickly holds auditions for Roa's role, deciding the gods of theater have told him that Galian will be perfect for the role (once again Pidgetrap isn't happy). Galian furiously protests that he can't play such an important role and begs Luke to pick someone else, but that evening he goes to visit Romin after a street performance, dressing as Roa (and using his pick as a microphone substitute) to tell her to spy on Yuga. Naturally despite his best efforts, Romin doesn't buy it and walks away, so Luke quickly holds auditions for Romin, and fortunately he picks Rayne, who vows to do her best to make sure Luke doesn't regret his decision with shining eyes. Luke declares they'll get Romin's memories back later; Gavin takes precedence for now and they'll start bright and early.

At Goha #7 Elementary the next day, Kaizo (with a sheet pasted over his face of a normal Goha Corporation Drone) plays the role of the Drone warning Yuga that his Duel-cycle violates school rules, while Schubel and Pidgetrap play the roles of Ricky and Katz respectively, recreating Yuga, Ricky and Katz's exchange over Yuga's five penalties (represented by a black crosses on a strip of paper over the screen of Yuga's Duel Disk. In the bushes, Luke, Galian, Rayne, Rino and Seatbastian watch eagerly for Gavin to come by on his patrol, but when Gavin approaches he does not zoom up to Yuga as he had previously done so, instead stopping to ensure the other students are 66cm apart, aren't walking faster than 66 meters a minute and telling them the school gate will be closed in 66 seconds before asking what Yuga did this time to get another penalty as Romin walks past. Yuga claims that he'll take back everyone's smiles from the strict and rigid world of Dueling using the new Road he's carved, Rush Dueling. Gavin is icy at the thought of a new Duel format, vowing to have Yuga sent to Duel Prison if that's true, but then he counts down until the school bell sounds and tells Yuga he'll hold a Duel trial for him after school against his heinous idealogies. He walks away and Yuga's other friends come out of hiding, Seatbastian noting that Gavin's aura is quite different. Yuga asks the twins what's wrong with him, and Rayne admits that Gavin has been acting oddly ever since losing his memories of Rush Dueling, though Luke is pleased given that Gavin will still be angry enough to pursue Yuga when he doesn't show up at the Student Council Room after school.

That evening, Gavin spots arrows and words pointing him to Yuga's location instead of Yuga himself, and follows them to the Hologram Man's chamber with Yuga's Duel-cycle outside, Kaizo shadowing him as Luke explains his plan; Gavin will come across the fierce Duel between Yuga and Otes using Real-Time Duel Programming, and re-experience the birth of Rush Duels, which will surely bring back his memories. Kaizo warns them that Gavin's almost here and Yuga and Luke exchange nods, but when Gavin enters to admonish Yuga for not showing up he's quite nonplussed by the sight of Yuga, Luke and "Otes" (Seatbastian in disguise). Even Luke realizes something's wrong when Gavin is a lot less flamboyant about his surprise and quickly claims they're in the middle of installing a new Duel format, Kaizo popping up in his own role with a timer taped to his screen and claiming that all individuals present will be penalized if they don't desist in 6 minutes and 66 seconds. Luke tells Gavin to just shut up and watch if he isn't okay with it, and adds that the other person present can too. Rayne steps out dressed as Romin, playfully asking if Luke knew she was there (much to Rino's embarrassment). Luke feigns surprise that even the guitarist from the elementary school band wants the title of King of Duels, though Rayne claims not to be interested in Dueling as she was practicing her guitar in the building above. But even though Kaizo repeats his "warning", Gavin doesn't react and Luke internally freaks out, deciding they need to hurry and show Gavin the Duel between Yuga and Otes. He whispers to Kaizo, who tells Galian and Schubel to prepare scene 77. They tug on a pulley, raising the cardboard Relic as Seatbastian declares that he will test whether they are fit to be the King of Duels or not. Yuga starts the scene of his Duel Disk's battery dying until Luke tells him to skip the small stuff and Duel "Otes".

But Gavin turns and runs out of the room, and Yuga recalls that Gavin had gone to find his Duel-cycle back then to power his Duel Disk, Rayne and Luke realizing that his memories might be being recreated. But to their shock Gavin returns dressed in a white uniform with two other students masked and dressed in dark uniforms, and Luke asks Rayne who they are, though she doesn't know. Gavin admits he thought they were joking but if they're being serious he won't let them get away with it. The rope holding up the fake Relic then snaps, dumping the surprised Seatbastian into the hole the Relic was contained in as Galian and Schubel run to him, and Gavin bursts out laughing over such an unsightly spectacle as Rino looks on in worry from behind a pillar, and Gavin comments that a meaningless act of creating another ugly format suits them, given all the other formats swarming around. Seatbastian hoists himself out of the pit, incensed by Gavin's statement, and one of the enforcers claims Gavin witnessed the chaos brought about by fools who danced about with their shallow curiousity and whims, the other claiming that their Student Council President has been reborn, both of them declaring that Gavin was reminded that discipline and tradition are important to keep the world on a righteous path. Schubel asks if their current situation where anyone can create a Dueling format has changed Gavin, but Rayne believes the Gavin who experienced Rush Dueling would have never experienced such grief and Galian asks if he's lost something else important. Luke desperately asks where their friend has gone, surprising Gavin at being called theirs, and Luke yanks off his sunglasses and reminds Gavin that he loved Rush Dueling. Gavin denounces the notion of him liking Rush Dueling as absurd when they have Goha Dueling, their pride and epitome of honoring discipline and tradition, and extends a baton as he declares the notion of creating a new format to be nothing but folly and warning Yuga that it's time for his punishment.

But Rino steps out of hiding with his Duel Disk strapped to his wrist, telling Gavin to wait until facing him in a Rush Duel before deciding whether it's folly or heinous. Yuga, Luke and Rayne gasp and Rayne asks if Rino even has a chance. Rino admits he isn't sure, but Duelists will understand one another through Dueling instead of this circus of a remake. Luke and Kaizo immediately agree and Galian declares that Rino's words have pierced his heart, Schubel and Pidgetrap agreeing and Seatbastian vowing he shall go to Master Nail. The four of them sprint (or fly in Pidgetrap's case) away and Rino tells Gavin that he doesn't want him to lose the joy of Rush Dueling or the memories he's made with everyone. He readies his Duel Disk and Rayne leaps to his side, taking off her Romin costume to reveal her kuroko gear as she tells him she'll handle his cards. Gavin asks if they have also been infected by these atrocious ideals and accepts his Duel Disk and Deck from the two masked enforcers, accepting their challenge and vowing to prove that Duels against honor and tradition are nothing but wicked. They insert their Decks into their Duel Disks with a cry of "Rush Duel!" to deploy the blades and the green holographic sphere.

Rino declares his turn and Rayne draws one card for him. His eyes widen at the sight of his hand, containing "Flower Fan Clematis", "Kurobana the Shadow Flower Wolf", "Stella the Shadow Flower Crest", "Shadow Flower Wish", and "Shadow Flower Flurry". Luke encourages Rino to give Gavin some shock therapy at full throttle, and Rino Summons "Kurobana the Shadow Flower Wolf" and "Stella the Shadow Flower Crest". Gavin is shocked that Rino Summoned two monsters at once and Rino Tributes both his monsters to Tribute Summon, and Yuga and Luke gasp hppily as Rino chants "A wish as strong as steel sprouts within my heart! If I could get through to you now... instead of searching for a thousand words, I would make a single flower part! Come forth! Flower Fan Clematis!" "Clemantis" appears with 2500 ATK, and Luke gasps that it's like an iron wall of flower petals, Yuga cheering Rino's move. Rino has Rayne switch "Clemantis" to Defense Position to activate its "Full Iron Bloom of Eternal Return" effect, and Rayne explains that if their LP are greater than or equal to Gavin's, "Clemantis" cannot be destroyed by battle until the end of Gavin's next turn. Rino has Rayne Set two cards and ends his turn, asking Gavin what he thinks of this speed and refreshing pace, a wind carving through rigid Dueling. Gavin muses on the notion of Summoning multiple monsters at once, and though everyone is encourages by his apparent thoughtfulness, Gavin declares that Rush Dueling is a total joke, just as he thought.

At Goha #6 Elementary, Caterpillio tinkers with R6 under Asana's watchful eye, admitting that just as he thought it will be difficult to restore R6 to its original condition before its modifications. Asana laments the loss of her Heavy Cavalry's purity and innocence to the defilment of modification and states they can't let their machines be further humiliated. She orders Caterpillio to dismantle all the Heavy Cavalry, much to his shock, and her fist shakes as she states that the Heavy Cavalry Duel Club will be disbanded too. Caterpillio rips off his mask and yells her name, but Asana simply tells R6 she'll let him be at peace soon. But then Galian, Schubel and Pidgetrap return in GG03, Galian calling to Asana (and Pidgetrap cooing loudly). Meanwhile down in the Nexus Nail examines the sculptures created on the moon by the Goha Duel Server, proclaiming the current state of affairs where rules are ignored is causing disorder and chaos and is nothing but harm that will bring turmoil to the world. The door to the Nexus opens to reveal Seatbastian, who politely requests a moment with Nail.

Back in the Hologram Man's chamber Gavin claims Rino's one turn has made him realize the folly of Rush Dueling and confirmed that any new format that disregards discipline and tradition must be purged with his own hands. He accepts his baton from one of the enforcers and points it at Rino, who admits that Gavin used to think similarly before experiencing Rush Dueling, but notes that Gavin was able to grasp something in his heart by walking alongside them all.

Galian has just told Asana the same thing, and she asks what could be more important than protecting the original and pure, and Galian and Schubel tell Caterpillio they need a favor. Caterpillio smiles, commenting that they're thinking the same thing, much to Galian, Schubel and Pidgetrap's joy. Down in the Nexus, Seatbastian tells Nail he was radiant when he claimed he didn't mind if there were formats beside Goha Duels and states that a humble throne like him is prepared to play the part of a demon to help Nail regain the richness of mind he had back then. He requests a match, much to Nail's surprise. Galian has also just challenged Asana to a Rush Duel and he tells her they all wish to bring back her precious and warm memories, and Galian has been entrusted with those feelings. On the walkway to the Nexus, Seatbastian and Nail face off, Nail admitting it would be against providence for a butler to stand against his master as he readies his Duel Disk. Asana stands atop Caterpillio's caterpillar track to face off against Galian on GG03, warning Galian she shall show him no mercy if he tries to force her to accept impure modifications and declares she shall go forth with the Havy Cavalry Way. Nail declares that providence shall guide him, as does Seatbastian, and Galian declares he'll be guided by the road of smiles, all four of them inserting their Decks into their Duel Disks and calling "Rush Duel!"

Back in the Hologram Man's chamber, Gavin tells Rino and Rayne that he appreciates the opportunity they have given him; to discipline them thoroughly in the ways of serving the Sogetsu family. He declares his turn and one of his enforcers draws a card for him, his hand containing "Kimeruler the Dark Raider", "Tama the Mancer Cat", "Mezame the Ringing Alarm", "Ancient Turtle Protector", and "Bonded Bowing". He Summons "Tama the Mancer Cat" and "Mezame the Ringing Alarm", then activates the effect of "Tama the Mancer Cat", sending the top two cards of his Deck to the Graveyard ("Yurushima the Hermit" and "Matsugumi the Ruler's Squad") and then Special Summoning "Yurushima the Hermit" from his Graveyard. Then he Tributes "Tama" and "Yurushima" to Tribute Summon, chanting "What is that stands in our way? A brave hero or a foolish tick? That is for you to decide! Kimeruler the Dark Raider!" Luke gasps that even Gavin's summon chant has changed as Gavin chuckles to himself.

Featured Duel: Rino Nanahoshi vs Gavin Sogetsu

Rino Tributes "Kurobana" and "Stella" to Tribute Summon "Flower Fan Clematis" (2500/1500). As Clematis was Normal Summoned this turn, Rino activates its effect, changing its battle position to prevent it from being destroyed by battle while Rino's LP are greater than or equal to Gavin's. Rino switches "Clematis" to face-up Defense Position. Rino Sets two cards.
