Ono calls it "Awakened Yuya". So yes, it could be called a "state". Burnpsy (talk • contribs) 03:44, May 1, 2016 (UTC)

Name

Though I do not doubt that this needs an article, the name "Berserk Mode" was never used in the anime. No name at all has been used for it. "Berserk Mode" is an accurate descriptor, I guess, but any suggestions for another name until we get an official one? Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 20:56, January 18, 2015 (UTC)

I think the "Berserk Mode" name is fine, but "Inner Fury", "Dragon Wrath", "Imperial Wrath" or even "Dimensional Fury" could be good too. Neo Razora 21:26, January 18, 2015 (UTC)

If Dimensional fury is actually proper, then that may have been what they are going for given the current setting and how it is apparently triggered but when was this term even used??
Otherwise I see no issue with Berzerk Mode

Gekirin/Imperial Wrath seems like the most legitimate one as it is Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V - Episode 039's title. Coutinho305 (talkcontribs) 17:35, March 22, 2015 (UTC)

So guys, found a new gem. There's an interview in Animedia last month from Director Ono, where they called Berserk Mode Yuya as「覚醒遊矢」. And 「覚醒」 here is the same one as Enlightenment Paladin's Kanji name 「覚醒の魔導剣士」. So, should we call it "Enlightened Mode"? Source: [1] Full interview: [2] Mubibi (talkcontribs) 09:59, October 13, 2015 (UTC)

The kanji means "Awakening", so it would be more like "Awakened Mode", "Awakening Mode", or something like that. --XBrain130™エックスブレーン130」 11:30, October 13, 2015 (UTC)

Well, it does mean that, but since Enlightenment Paladin's Kanji name is read as Enlightenment Paladin instead of "Kakusei no Madou Kenshi" or "Awakened Magic Swordsman". It pretty much goes to say that Yuya's Berserk Mode is supposed to be read as "Enlightened Mode" or "Enlightenment Mode", instead of "Awakening".

I highly doubt something that causes you to brutally overkill your opponents would be called "Enlightenment Mode". Also, the card is called that because it is what the upper katakana says, and katakana toppes kanji. If it was just the kanji, it would be called "Magical Swordsman of Awakening". Plus "Awakened Mode" makes sense because Yuya's darkness seems to "awaken" everytime it takes control of him, with Episode 1 being the first time. Not to mention it fits with my theory about the true nature of Yuya's conterparts, but I don't think this is a appropriate place to share it. --XBrain130™エックスブレーン130」 12:20, October 13, 2015 (UTC)
Probably for irony I guess? And, as far as I recall, from the interview, Director Ono said that Yuya can somewhat control that state now, but will still let it loose sometime in the future. It's probably an endgame foreshadow anyway. If I were to compare it to something, it would probably be something like Avatar: The Last Airbender's Avatar State. An uncontrolled savage state at first, but will eventually be something that's going to be put in good use once mastered. And here I am discussing theories. Well, it's just to match the running theme between him and his cards anyway. Enlightened kinda still means to be Awakened too.

Oh yeah, just to add-on too. There are wrathful beings in Buddhism that are still considered Enlightened too. Anyway, so should we change the name for Berserk Mode to "Awakened" or "Enlightenment" Mode? Although I'm leaning towards to "Enlightenment" due to his cards' running themes, and Asian belief themes surrounding his recent Magician cards. But "Awakened" is still the proper translation of the word after all.
Mubibi (talkcontribs) 14:37, October 13, 2015 (UTC)
In Buddhism, "enlightenment" is often used as the English word for bodhi, among other things. Although "awakened" is a more accurate translation of bodhi. (See wikipedia:Enlightenment in Buddhism for more information.) 覚醒 seems to be an accepted Japanese translation of the same term (See wikipedia:ja:菩提).
I'd be more in favour of moving to "Awakened Mode". Although if the ability is based on the Buddhism concept or related to the card "Enlightenment Paladin", then I'd maybe prefer "Enlightenment"/"Enlightened", but note that "Awakened" is the more accurate translation. -- Deltaneos (talk) 01:53, January 16, 2016 (UTC)

First episode of use

Since this article describes the first usage/stage as being when he gained Pendulum Summoning, shouldn't we state in the infobox that it was first used in episode 1 rather than episode 37 --FlashEmperor 23:25, January 15, 2016 (UTC)

Name change offical

Should we changed the topic page to Awakened or Enlightened? Seem ofifcla as seen by this. Series director Katsumi Ono has referrred to it as Awakened or Enlightened (覚醒 Kakusei) in Japanese interviews --Its Hero Time! 20:38, March 2, 2016 (UTC)

Going by the rename tag that was recently put up, I'm inclined to agree, since Katsumi Ono disclosed the name in an interview. Anything that comes from Word of God is official in my book. Other thoughts, guys? ChaosGallade (talkcontribs) 07:47, April 6, 2016 (UTC)
