Here's what I don't get: Almost all (perhaps all) "[[Polymerization]]" substitutes specifically declare that when they [[Special Summon]] a [[Fusion Monster]], it's treated as a [[Fusion Summon]]. However, for being the card that most people associate with [[Fusion Summon]]s and use to [[Summon]] [[Fusion Monster]]s, "[[Polymerization]]" does NOT state that it can perform a [[Fusion Summon]]. This may just be paranoia, but I'm not sure I can trust this card for my [[Fusion Monster]]s. This is the talk page for discussing the page, Polymerization.

Please try to

  • Be polite
  • Assume good faith
  • Be welcoming

Just out of curiosity: I have an older copy of Polymerization with the card text "Fuses 2 or more Fusion Material Monsters to form a new Fusion Monster" or something similar. If I use that card, can I still select Fusion Material Monsters from my hand (as stated in the "New Card Lore" in the Errata section), or do they have to be on the field? 24.79.131.140 21:13, 21 October 2008 (UTC)

the fusion materials can be on the feild, in hand, or both F.G.D owner 23:21, 2 November 2008 (UTC)

  • To add to what F.G.D owner said, no matter which version of the card you own it is my belief that the game requires you to go by the most recent lore. So you should still be able to freely use older versions of cards in your deck, such as the original Polymerization which states the old lore "Fuses 2 or more Fusion Material Monsters to form a new Fusion Monster", but you have to use them by their errata'd lore. useless?

Do I still need polymerisation? I have loads of fusion monsters but i have never seen a polymerisation magic card in my life... are they even needed anymore? or is there a special way to buy polymerisation cards?

  • In response, you most DEFINITELY need a Polymerization card in order to fuse fusion material monsters and summon a fusion monster. This is why fusion's can be tricky because you need the material monsters (usually two or three cards), a polymerization and the relevant fusion monster in your deck. There are actually plenty of polymerization substitutes of varying use depending on the type of monsters you are using, for example Future Fusion allows you to select monsters straight from your deck however, it requires two of your opponents turns to pass before the fusion monster is successfully summoned. Dragon's Mirror can be a Godsend in a Dragon themed deck and also allows you to make good use of your destroyed or discarded dragons. Hope that helps you a bit. it's funny without this card fusion monsters are useless. I have the opposite problem. I have polmerzation and the cards to make the monsters but not the fusion card.

sorry I left the above message. Anyways try this card:

http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Instant_Fusion

You'll still probably need a polymerzation eventually but this card helps.--Blueyeyesawesomedragon 03:37, 2 February 2009 (UTC)

I HAVE ONE MORE QUESTION, CAN I FUSION MONSTERS WHEN THERE ISN'T GRAVEYARD BY THE EFFECT OF DIMENSIONAL FISSURE??. THIS QUESTION 'CAUSE THE POLYMERIZATION SAYS: Send Fusion Material Monsters that are listed by a Fusion Monster Card from your hand or your side of the field to the Graveyard, and Special Summon the Fusion Monster from your Fusion Deck.

Archetype?

Should Polymerization be considered an archetype? I know they are all fusion monster support, but the cards themselves have support. I am just asking to avoid making lousy mistake. MezzoDragon 12:05, 7 May 2009 (UTC)

Different Polymerization card in Duelist Pack: Yugi

The NEWEST Polymerization card in the Duelist Pack: Yugi is the one that they show in the anime (the OCG Polymerization (Fusion)). It has the OCG's Polymerization 8-digit passcode, 27847700. The NEWEST Polymerization card is listed under THIS Polymerization's release section...

The Polymerization (Fusion) card might replace this card altogether because it has updated errata, such as the phrase "Fusion Deck" updated to "Extra Deck".

This article and Polymerization (Fusion)'s article may have to be merged because the newest card may replace this Polymerization card (even though they have different passcodes). -- SameAnon

I believe that we should keep the 2 Poly's separate until the Yugi DP comes out. That way we will know for SURE if the [[Polymerization (Fusion{]] is the Alternate artwork of Polymerization that will be in it~MEOW~ Might of the BIRD Empire~~ 23:36, 5 July 2009 (UTC)

Just out of curiosity, could have 3 of each in my deck. They have the same name but different codes. --10reapaer01 23:39, 5 July 2009 (UTC)

Yes, it has been confirmed. I just got a Duelist Pack: Yugi in the mail, and I pulled a Polymerization (Fusion). It has both alternate art and different passcode. Couldn't we treat this article as replaced by Polymerization (Fusion)? Unless regular Poly will be updated and re-released in the future. -- SameAnon July 8, 2009

THANK YOU!

Thanks whoever returned the original image to this page. who in their right mind puts the NEW polymerization on the OLD version's page? Lugia61617 17:30, September 24, 2009 (UTC)

I've seen 700+ cards, never this one....

I'm having trouble believing that this card exists... After all, they sell Fusion decks (I've bought one) and it didn't have this card, which is REQUIRED to use every freaking card in the other deck... I figured, I might as well trash the fusion cards that I bought.. Only a moron would sell a fusion deck that requires this card without including it in the deck right?

Anyway, I just picked up anohter $100 worth of cards, so maybe I'll actually *see* this card someday...

Also, the link to the "instant Fusion" card is another completely worthless card... Why did they print it? If I read it correctly, I can pay 1,000 life points to move a card from my extra deck to the graveyard. Oh, but I'm limited to screwing myself only *once* per turn.... Sure, the card shows up on the field for a few seconds before it gets trashed, but is it worth that much just to look at your card for a second? Ok, Maybe you could summon a fusion monster that had very low attack... Then play a card (another hard to use card) that gives control of one of your monsters to the other player, and give it to him... Then blast it with one of your monsters... To avoid having to attack his monster that has higher attack...

But, the chance of that existing is pretty low... And how many fusion monsters have 300 attack? None? Yeah... Not worth the ink they used to print it with....

card version

this CANNOT be the 1996 version of polymerisation becuase it says extra deck not fusion deck.

That's when the game was copyrighted, not when the card was created. 81.152.182.175 12:40, June 1, 2010 (UTC)

"Polymerization Substitution"

Has anyone ever heard of a card called "Fusion Gate" its effect reads Qoute: "As long as this card remains face-up on the field, a Fusion Monster can be Special Summoned without using "Polymerization". The Fusion Material Monsters used in the Fusion are not sent to the Graveyard, but are removed from play." Fusion Gate is a common Continous Spell Card believe it or not.--TheCollector 12 (talkcontribs) 00:12, July 15, 2010 (UTC)
