How did Slifer survive Obelisk effect. In it's card text on your wikia it states that

Cannot be targeted by, or leave the field by, the effects of Spell/Trap Cards and non-DIVINE monsters, except by its own effect.

Obelisk is a divine monster. Therefore Slifer should have left the field, and be whipped out even before the arrival of kuriboh.--SHONENHIKADA (talkcontribs) 05:21, August 15, 2013 (UTC)

This is the same question I'm wondering. The entire Egyptian God fight seemed to bend the rules several times in that one should've destroyed the other at several points but didn't just to make the fight longer and more epic. Does SLifer's ability to be unaffected by targeting effects somehow include Obelisk, considering how Slifer was the only monster on Yugi's side of the field? —This unsigned comment was made by AmuricanPatriot (talkcontribs) 04:08, August 24, 2013‎ (UTC)

People like editing the Egyptian God card pages a lot, so their effect still have to be cleaned up. To be honest, it's not high on the priority list, since Kazuki Takahashi didn't really focus too much on rule continuity. My apologies for the lack of a signature on my last comment, as I only now realize where the tilde key is on my computer. As for Obelisk's effect not working on Slifer, it's still a bit puzzling to me. The immunity to targeting effects is the only thing I can think of that makes decent sense here, aside from "other effects" lasting until the end phase. I suppose since Slifer's effect on Obelisk only lasted until the end of the turn, the concept could be applied in this case but it still doesn't quite fit.
