"Secret Gig", known in Japan as"The Two Ideals" is the eighty-fourth episode of the Yu-Gi-Oh! SEVENS anime. It first aired in Japan on January 30, 2022. It became available for streaming on Hulu August 21, 2023 in America.

Roa has been practicing like mad for a secret RoaRomin concert. Like Gavin and the others, Roa seems to have lost all his memories about Rush Duels. Yuga challenges Roa to a Duel in order to restore his memories. And so, they Duel each other once again. The day of the Big Seven Arena concert will now be re-created…!

Summary

At Goha #7 Elementary, three students are looking over all the new Duel formats that have popped up, and three other students with curly hair and brightly-colored clothing show up with Duel Disks covered in flowers, suggesting they try their Millennial Duels, but then another three students arrive wering robot costumes, suggesting they try their new Duels of the Near Future instead. Smoke then wafts in as three more students in costume suggest it's time for their Period Drama Duels. The three groups note their formats are all new, and decide to settle which is the newest in a Duel, much to the confusion of the other students.

At the Nanahoshi Insect Ninja Village Nana shows Yuga Goha footage of the Goha #7 students, explaining there has been an explosion of new formats across Goha City and clashes between them are becoming more violent. Yuga is pleased, given that a world where conflict fueled conflict and only the strongest survived was what he wanted, but he's furious that Gavin Sogetsu, Nail Saionji and Asana Mutsuba have all recovered their memories and strikes down a torch, protesting that "Monster Reborn" was supposed to erase everything and asking why, cowing Nana's two aides. Nana adds there's something else and Yuga retracts his mask, irritably asking what else has happened now. At Goha #7, one of the students using Duels of the Near Future and one using Period Drama Duels try to use their own formats against one another, but their Duel Disks fail to activate, and Yuga Goha is shocked to learn that Dueling will cease to exist. Nana confirms it; the boy in the beetle hat explains that the system has been failing in the middle of Duels and the boy with the mantis backpack adds that others have reported being unable to activate their Duel Disks. Nana snaps her fingers, bringing up a view of the Goha Duel Server on the surface of the moon and Yuga gasps in shock at the sheer number of new sculptures on its surface as Nana explains that with all the new formats being created, the speed has been straining the system and at this rate it will fall and take Goha Duels, the basis for all the formats, down with it. Yuga is horrified, protesting they can't let it happen, but then remembers Luke calling him "Swirls" and clutches his forehead in pain. Nana gasps his name but Yuga orders her not to touch him, wondering what just happened.

At the Big Seven Arena Tyler has just shown Gavin and Yuga Ohdo a poster for a RoaRomin concert that day, explaining that it's for fan-club members only and telling Gavin he's glad his memories have returned. Gavin agrees he's thankful they're back as well, prompting Luke to take credit for their return, though Kaizo notes Luke's plan was stupid, though at least now they know how to recover memories. Yuga agrees, noting they should be able to restore Roa and Romin's memories too, though naturally Kaizo thinks they can leave Roa for later and get Romin to remember him first. But Tyler tells them Romin isn't here and hasn't been since they Dueled Yuga Goha, and when asked by Gavin where she is, admits he doesn't know - much to the anger of Kaizo, who promptly begins throttling him, worried Romin is wandering the streets due to her memory loss and descending into sobs. As Yuga pats the shocked Tyler on the shoulders, Gavin asks Rayne and Rino to find Romin and they reassure them they can leave the task to them before vanishing. Gavin notes they have to restore Roa's memories immediately, though Tyler seems hesitant and Luke asks what's wrong. Tyler admits that Roa's been more focused on practicing recently, suggesting it may be due to his forgetting Rush Dueling and explaining he believes Roa's really trying to be a band with them, so maybe they should leave him like this if it makes Roa happy, though Tyler wonders if that would really be all right. Luke wonders what his other bandmates think and struggles to remember the other one, as does Gavin. Poor Toombs screams his name (in the Japanese version his name means "Behind you!") and terrifies Luke, Gavin and Yuga, Gavin admitting he clean forgot about Toombs. Toombs sighs that he's glad Gavin remembered and solemnly tells Yuga something is wrong with Roa.

Meanwhile Mimi is reading a story to Yuo, ending with a lady with one-length hair using a man as her purse to live the rest of her days feeling trendy and young and happily ever after. Yuo finds the tale interesting and wants to read more, and Mimi decides she still has time since it's eight minutes to five o' clock, suggesting "Urban Marine Resort Story". Yuka notes Yuo seems happy and Yuro worries that he won't be able to recover his memories, only for Nail to contact them over a holoscreen and inform them Yuo can recover his memories as Nail himself has through providence. Nail explains he's identified that new formats began to explode when Otes lost his memories and Yujin asks in shock what that means. Nail states that Swirls was able to see Otes' true motive; to put Dueling back in the hands of children, and Otes had been watching over the Duel Development Road and all the children using it, controlling the system to prevent it overloading. Yuro muses on the term control as Nail and Yujin note that with Otes having lost his memories no-one has been managing the new formats or fulfilling his goal. Mimi asks how they should fulfill Otes' goal now he's lost his memories - and then she remembers the SEVENS storybook, and its statement that the sevens roads that had been carved open and united would lead to a happy future, and "Sevens Road" would be the name of that guiding beacon. Mimi wonders if she'd have found the answer if she'd kept reading the book, but then remembers it had been missing pages - and then her 5pm alarm goes off and she snatches up her phone-bag and heads out. Yuka asks where she's going and Mimi explains it's time for RoaRomin's secret concert for family members only. She bids them "bye-onara", leaving Yuka confused by Mimi's billingual portmanteau, while Yuo muses on the term "Sevens Road", whispering the Japense words for "road, seven, and moon" in his head, then "Duel Program".

As Roa is doing a mic check on stage, Tyler brings Yuga, Luke and Gavin to meet him and Yuga asks if Roa remembers them. Roa claims he can't remember all of his many fans and Luke protests they aren't his fans, Gavin adding they're his comrades in Rush Dueling. Yuga comments in disappointment that Roa lost his memories like the others did too, prompting a brief flinch from Roa as Tyler introduces Yuga, Luke and Gavin to him. Roa asks if they're Tyler's friends and if they're here for the concert, but Yuga tells him they're here to restore his memories, Luke further adding that recreating a Rush Duel they've had before should do the trick, something they know thanks to Director Luke. He dons his director's costume again and encourages Roa to Duel, but Roa asks if he's joking, pointing out it's their secret concert today so why should he have to Duel? Gavin, Luke and Yuga are quite disconcerted by hearing Roa dismiss Dueling so casually when he wanted to become King of Duels himself and Yuga remembers Toombs telling them something was wrong with Roa. He challenges Roa to a Rush Duel like they had in the Big Seven Arena previously, telling him he can't continue to have his memories lost forever. Roa turns him down, claiming he only goes on stage for his princesses, and right on cue his fangirls arrive, eager to see Roa Duel, Mimi rallying them to help Roa remember his memories if he's forgotten them. His hands tied, Roa agrees to the Rush Duel and asks who it works. Once he and Yuga ready their Duel Disks, Roa tells his fangirls this will be their secret concert's pre-opening act and tells them to have fun before tossing his micrphone to Tyler. Yuga calls "Let's go!" and Roa agrees as they insert their Decks into their Duel Disks and call "Rush Duel!" to deploy the blades and the green holographic dome.

Roa holds up his four card hand, nothing that this is a Rush Duel, and Yuga declares his turn and draws, his hand containing "Magical Switch", "Sevens Road Warlock", "Sevens Road Witch", "Dark Sorcerer", and "Sevens Road Magician". He Summons "Dark Sorcerer" and Tributes it to Tribute Summon "Sevens Road Witch", then sends a card from his hand to the Graveyard ("Sevens Road Warlock") to activate the "Magical Sevens Call" and Special Summon "Sevens Road Magician" from his hand. Gavin and Kaizo are pleased to see "Sevens Road Magician" and Luke asks if Roa remembers anything yet, as "Sevens Road Magician" tied his and Yuga's fates together. Roa claims that he's never heard it, so Yuga tells him he'll be sure to remind him and Sets a card to end his turn.

As his fangirls cheer for him, Roa declares his turn and his divine draw, Luke recognizing the line from Yuga and Roa's previous Duel. Mimi points out that of course it is, as it's Roa's signature style and another girl adds Roa's been using those lines since the days of Goha Dueling and Kaizo notes that Roa is still Roa even without his memories. Roa adds the "Royal Rebel's Heavy Metal" he drew to his hand, also containing "Gig and Take", "Royal Rebel's Rocker", "Royal Rebel's Superfan", and "Royal Rebel's Fanatic" and Summons "Royal Rebel's Fanatic", then "Royal Rebel's Superfan". He activates the effect of "Royal Rebel's Superfan", sending the top card of his Deck to the Graveyard, and if it's a monster they'll take damage equal to its Level times 100. He's sent the Level 6 "Royal Rebel's Growl" to the Graveyard so they both take 600 damage, falling to 3400 LP each. Roa seems to realizes something and smiles, but before Yuga can do more than gasp in quiet surprise, Roa Tributes "Royal Rebel's Fanatic" to Tribute Summon, chanting "Continue resisting to your heart's desire! Royal Rebel's Rocker!" Yuga's friends gasp at the sight of the monster and Roa activates the effect of "Royal Rebel's Rocker", adding a Fiend Type monster from his Graveyard to his hand. Adding "Royal Rebel's Growl" to his hand, Roa Tributes "Rocker" to Tribute Summon, chanting "Tremble at the sound of the singing voice from hell! Royal Rebel's Growl!" Gavin gasps that it's repeated Tribute Summons and Tyler notes the Level of Roa's monsters is increasing, Luke and Kaizo watching nervously as Roa sends the top card of his Deck to the Graveyard to activate the effect of "Royal Rebel's Growl", choosing one of Yuga's monsters and reducing its ATK by 200 times its Level. Luke and Gavin gasp that "Sevens Road Magician" is Level 7 and will lose 1400 ATK and Yuga gasps as "Growl" screams, reducing "Sevens Road Magician" to 700 ATK.

Roa holds up his hand, Tyler throwing him his microphone on cue, and he declares the stage is finally warmed up and that they'll get this show on the road, much to his fangirls' joy. He Tributes "Royal Rebel's Growl" and "Superfan", chanting "If you're prepared to throw away your very life for the king... A resilient Distortion Power Chord! And now, together with a heavy-metal highway lead! Sink your teeth into any who oppose you! Come forth! Royal Rebel's Heavy Metal!" As Mimi and the other fangirls squeal in joy, Roa activates the effect of "Heavy Metal", destroying the monster Yuga controls with the lowest Level, and he orders "Heavy Metal" to silence that witch with "Hellflame Mosh Pit", and "Heavy Metal" roars into its microphone, emanating black lightning and a crimson orb that surround "Sevens Road Witch", compressing her as her ATK is drained. Roa adds that "Heavy Metal" also gains the ATK of the destroyed monster as the energy of "Sevens Road Witch" into a similar orb in the claws of "Heavy Metal", who rises to 4100 ATK as "Witch" is compressed and destroyed. Yuga cries his monster's name and Gavin notes "Heavy Metal" has 4100 ATK, gasping as he realizes that "Sevens Road" had 700 ATK and Yuga had 3400 LP during Yuga and Roa's last Duel, remembering all the similarities. Yuga confirms it's the same and Roa comments they must have been close for Yuga to remember such minute details. Yuga claims they were, as they were going to change the rigid world of Dueling together, and Roa quietly scoffs, Sets a card, then the King enters the battlefield, and he orders his monster to march into Hell with a demonic riff. "Royal Rebel's Heavy Metal" screams into its microphone, causing black lightning to lash across the field.

Gavin cries that Yuga will be wiped out if the 700 ATK "Sevens Road Magician" is destroyed, but Yuga reassures him he won't let that happen and he activates "Magical Switch", Special Summoning "Sevens Road Witch" from his Graveyard and then sending "Sevens Road Magician" to the Graveyard. "Heavy Metal" attacks with "Headbanger's Destruction" and slashes "Sevens Road Witch" with its microphone, destroying her and reducing Yuga to 900 LP, and Gavin gasps that Yuga survived, managing to Special Summon "Sevens Road Witch" and withstand the attack at the last moment. Roa admits that was impressive and Yuga sadly admits Toombs was right; something is strange about Roa.

Roa gasps but tries to brush it off - and then Rayne and Rino return, claming to have found Romin, though they only have a cardboard cutout of her in a new outfit, although naturally it's enough to fool Luke into thinking Romin has been trampled flat until the twins tell him otherwise. They shown them the sign attached to the botoom, which Kaizo reads: Romin Kassidy's Major Debut as a Solo Artist. Everyone is utterly shocked by the news, even Tyler, Toombs (who chucks Kaizo aside to get a better look at the cutout) and RoaRomin's fans haven't heard about it, and the girls wonder what will happen to RoaRomin. Yuga says Roa's name sadly and Roa comments Romin had already made up her mind to go solo and debut. Tyler angrily asks why Roa didn't stop her and he evasively claims it's none of his business, a claim Tyler calls ridiculous given Romin is an important member of RoaRomin. Kaizo thinks it's fine, believing Romin has always deserved to perform freely as she wants, and Tyler calls him a useless Drone and tells him to shut up. Toombs wonders if Romin forgot about RoaRomin, startling Tyler, though Gavin reminds them RoaRomin was formed before Rush Dueling and she shouldn't have forgotten that. Yuga agrees, and he adds that it's impossible for Roa to have forgotten him as well. His friends are surprised and Luke asks what he means. Yuga had been wondering why Luke's memories weren't affected by Swirls' "Monster Reborn" and he recalls the connection they formed before Rush Dueling was installed, when Yuga had been wary to try in the Hologram Man's chamber owing to his five penalties and Luke had revealed he'd already failed six times, but believed Yuga could do so with his last chance. Luke realizes Yuga's right, as they'd already formed a connection before Rush Dueling was installed, though he takes a few tries to describe it as "super-strong". Yuga adds that Roa is the same and Luke agrees, but he's still stuck on his connection with Yuga and shocked to realize what he means. Yuga points out that he and Roa met long before, remembering when Otes gave "Sevens Road Magician" to him and not to Roa. He asks Roa if he remembers, but Roa doesn't respond as Gavin and Luke realize that anyone connected with Yuga before the existence of Rush Duels wouldn't have been affected by "Monster Reborn". Luke points out he's proof of that and Yuga tells Roa he knows that he hasn't lost his memories, much to everyone's astonishment.

Featured Duel: Yuga Ohdo vs Roa Kassidy

The Duel is conducted as a Rush Duel.

Turn 1: Yuga
Yuga's hand contains "Magical Switch", "Sevens Road Warlock", "Sevens Road Witch", "Dark Sorcerer", and "Sevens Road Magician". Yuga Normal Summons "Dark Sorcerer" (1500/0). Yuga Tributes "Dark Sorcerer" to Tribute Summon "Sevens Road Witch" (1600/1000). Yuga activates the effect of "Sevens Road Witch", sending a card from his hand to the Graveyard to Special Summon a Level 7 or higher DARK Spellcaster Type monster from his hand, and if he Special Summons "Sevens Road Magician", then "Sevens Road Witch" gains 400 ATK until the end of the turn. He sends "Sevens Road Warlock" from his hand to the Graveyard and Special Summons the Level 7 "Sevens Road Magician" (2100/1500) in Attack Position ("Sevens Road Witch": 1600/1000 → 2000/1000). Yuga Sets a card.

Turn 2: Roa
Roa draws "Royal Rebel's Heavy Metal". Roa's hand contains "Gig and Take", "Royal Rebel's Rocker", "Royal Rebel's Superfan", "Royal Rebel's Heavy Metal", and "Royal Rebel's Fanatic". Roa Normal Summons "Royal Rebel's Fanatic" (0/0) and "Royal Rebel's Superfan" (200/0). As "Superfan" was Normal Summoned this turn and Yuga has 1000 or more LP, Roa activates the effect of "Superfan", sending the top card of his Deck to the Graveyard, and if he sends a Level 8 or lower monster to the Graveyard with this effect, both players take damage equal to that monster's Level x 100. He sends the Level 6 "Royal Rebel's Growl" to the Graveyard (Yuga: 4000 → 3400 LP)(Roa: 4000 → 3400 LP). Roa Tributes "Fanatic" to Tribute Summon "Royal Rebel's Rocker" (1500/0). As "Rocker" was Normal Summoned this turn, Roa activates its effect, adding a Level 6 or higher Fiend Type monster from his Graveyard to his hand, but he cannot attack directly this turn. He adds "Royal Rebel's Growl" to his hand. Roa Tributes "Rocker" to Tribute Summon "Royal Rebel's Growl" (1800/0). As "Growl" was Tribute Summoned this turn by Tributing a Level 5 or higher monster, Roa activates its effect, sending the top card of his Deck to the Graveyard to reduce the ATK/DEF of a face-up monster Yuga controls equal to its Level x 200. He sends "Babysitter Goat" from the top of his Deck to the Graveyard and chooses the Level 7 "Sevens Road Magician" ("Sevens Road Magician": 2100/1500 → 700/100).[Note 1] Roa Tributes "Growl" and "Superfan" to Tribute Summon "Royal Rebel's Heavy Metal" (2500/0). As "Heavy Metal" was Tribute Summoned this turn by Tributing a Level 5 or higher monster, Roa activates its effect, choosing the Level 8 or lower monster Yuga controls with the lowest Level to have "Heavy Metal" gain ATK equal to that monster's original ATK until the end of this turn, then destroy the chosen monster. He destroys the Level 6 1600 ATK "Sevens Road Witch" ("Heavy Metal": 2500/0 → 4100/0). Roa Sets a card. "Heavy Metal" attacks "Sevens Road Magician", but as his opponent's monster declaed an attack, Yuga activates his Set Trap "Magical Switch", Special Summoning a Spellcaster Type monster from his Graveyard in Attack Position, then sending a monster he controls to the Graveyard. He Special Summons "Sevens Road Witch" (1600/1000), then sends "Sevens Road Magician" to the Graveyard. A replay occurs and "Heavy Metal" attacks and destroys "Sevens Road Witch" (Yuga: 3400 → 900 LP).

Duel continues in the next episode.
