Meadows, Tori

Tori Meadows, known as Kotori Mizuki in the Japanese version is a main supporting character in Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL. She is a friend of Yuma Tsukumo and she also knows Kari Tsukumo and Haru Tsukumo. Due to her unyielding personality, she tends to tease Yuma for his mistakes; despite this, she still cares for him and never leaves his side (evidenced by the fact that she is present at all his Duels).

Appearance

Tori's skirt in the original (left) and in the dub (right).

Tori is a 13 year old girl with green hair and hazel eyes. She also seems to look a lot like her mother. She wears a schoolgirl outfit with a pink collar and skirt. When out of school, she wears a white t-shirt with yellow decal and a pink skirt. In the dub, she has a longer skirt than in the original. However, the "Characters" page for ZEXAL on the http://www.4kids.tv/show/yu-gi-oh-zexal/characters 4kids website shows Tori's skirt in its original size.

Out of all of the current Yu-Gi-Oh! characters, she has worn the most outfits as seen in the ending My Quest when she has had several costume changes. She has also been noted to wear several different outfits when she goes out with Yuma.

Personality

Tori is a very cheerful girl with the ability to manipulate computers, as demonstrated when Flip framed Yuma and she discovered the whole fiasco. She is protective and fiercely loyal to Yuma, as shown in episode 5 when she believed in him despite the fact that there was "undeniable evidence" against him and how she never laughed at Yuma when he challenged the impossible; she admires his unwavering will and determination of constantly challenging himself.

Despite the fact that Tori sometimes gets annoyed by Yuma's naivety and childish outbursts, she appears to harbor a deep crush on Yuma, evidenced by how she blushes and becomes slightly angered when Yuma talks about Cathy (as well as arguing with her over him) or when she smiles at Yuma's antics.

Tori is also shown to worry about Yuma's safety when hearing that the "Numbers" cards are dangerous.[1]

After Yuma starts to give up hope when The Emperor's Key is stolen, Tori is so worried about Yuma that she helps him get back to his senses by slapping him. This sense of worry increases greatly when she screams out Yuma's name in despair, thinking he didn't make it out of Kite's hideout when it exploded. When he appeared, she cycled through being happy and annoyed, tears in her eyes the whole time.[2]

She also blushes when Yuma grabs her hand as the two of them run away from Anna, or when Anna talks about her feelings for Yuma.[3] The latter is accompanied by the sound of a heavy heartbeat when Tori's shocked face is shown.

When Hosaku Yasai said he wanted to make Tori the image girl of the tomato amusement park he wanted to create (an idea of which Tori clearly wasn't very fond of) Yuma stepped in and said he would not let that happen showing a hint of jealousy of Hosaku's interest in her, making Tori blush and touched that he cares for her. When it turned out that he just had an extreme aversion to tomatoes, she was a bit disappointed. Tori also seems to cook meals for Yuma as well, indicated by some of their conversations. [4] In episode 51 she appears to have a dislike of roller coasters indicated by how she was screaming when speeding up and telling Yuma to slow down.

Biography

History

Currently, not much is known about Tori's past other than she has been going to the same school as Yuma and Bronk since she was young. She also values them as her best friends and defends them at any cost, even to the extent that she now harbors romantic feelings for Yuma.

Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL

On the way to Heartland Middleschool, Tori and one of her friends saw Yuma screaming at a group of Litterbots that were calling his Deck various insults such as "trash". Tori's friend asked her if the person screaming at the robots was Yuma to which Tori quickly stated that she didn't know to which she then called Yuma an idiot in her thoughts. During her time at school, Tori witnesses Yuma constantly fail within various tasks ranging from his '20 stack challenge' to swimming the length of the pool, underwater without coming up for air to which she always turns away and moves her head in embarrassment. During the school break, Tori and Yuma ran outside to Duel, but witnessed Bronk get defeated by Shark whom she is afraid of. She was then shocked at when Shark broke Yuma's pendant and took Bronk's Deck. The next day, she continuously tried to cheer Yuma up but failed. Bronk witnessed this and when Tori and Yuma were walking home, Bronk followed them on his Duel Board and gave Yuma the piece which Reginald had kicked into the bushes, making Tori smile as it cheered Yuma up and gave him confidence.

Tori and Bronk cheering Yuma on.

The next day, Tori showed up at Yuma's Duel against Shark to support him along with Bronk. As the Duel went on, Bronk and Shark continuously corrected Yuma's mistakes to which Tori joined in on, even though she doesn't know much about Dueling. She also shouted for Yuma in a worrying tone when Shark's "Number 17: Leviathan Dragon" destroyed "Gagaga Magician", knocking Yuma off his feet.[5]

As Yuma's Duel with Shark continued, Astral appeared before Yuma, but as only he can see Astral, Tori was confused to who Yuma was talking to and when he called Astral a "Dueling ghost", Tori and Bronk were even more shocked and suspicious, even to the extent that Bronk thought that Yuma had gone crazy because he was getting defeated so bad. Despite this, Tori continued cheering Yuma on despite him being at a large disadvantage. When Yuma summoned Number 39: Utopia, Tori was shocked that Yuma had an Xyz Monster, as well as the fact that it was a Number as neither she or Bronk knew that Yuma owned one. After Yuma defeated Shark, Tori screamed for joy at his victory.[6]

When the Crashbug Virus caused distress within Heartland City, Tori along with Yuma were sent to find who the culprit is as Yuma's sister, Kari Tsukumo found out that the virus was originally send into the cities systems in the middle school library. Tori and Yuma stayed in the library all day to find anyone who was behaving suspicious and in the afternoon, they found out that it was Caswell, but it turns out that he was used by the real culprit. They then found the location of the real criminal and it is revealed that it was Mr. Kay, their teacher, but he was under the influence of Number 34: Terror-Byte. Yuma challenged him to a Duel with Tori and Caswell cheering him on.[7]

Tori and Caswell

As Yuma's Duel with Mr. Kay continued, he kept shouting at Astral to which Caswell asked Tori about. She told him that it was part of Yuma's 'feeling the flow' attitude, showcasing how she covers up Yuma's behaviour like she did before although this time, Yuma was in the right. After Yuma defeated Mr. Kay, Tori asked him about how to stop the virus and when he said he didn't know, she along with the others were waiting for the city to go into "mass panic", but all Mr. Kay's "virus" did was make a giant Crashbug be projected from the Crashbug Stadium to bring happiness to the hearts of all Duelists to which Tori admired.[8]

Flip, someone whom Tori had known from a young age began to cause distress within Heartland City such as causing a Candy store owner to lose a lot of money. When Flip was exiting the Heartland Shopping Mall, he caused Tori's and her friend's lollipops to turn upside down, annoying them causing Tori to shout at Flip. During the next day, Flip began to prey on Yuma and tried to give him the "Baby Tiragon" card, but Tori and Bronk warned Yuma not to trust him as they had known him from a young age. Despite Tori and Bronk preventing Yuma from being near Flip, he managed to get Yuma to accept the Tiragon card. As well as this, he edited several photos of people in distress by adding Yuma to them, making him look like the person who caused them their pain. Tori, knowing this to be unlike Yuma, began to investigate. Whilst she was doing this, Flip had managed to succeed in his plans in seperating Yuma from his friends so that he could Duel him with "Number 39: Utopia" as an ante.[9]

Having found out that Flip had edited the images to contain Yuma, Tori and Bronk seek to locate one of their classmates who Flip tricked into stacking dominoes in order to win an Xyz Monster. When Tori finally locates him, she ends up making him knock over all of the dominoes thus has to start over again. When she asks him what he's doing and he explains that Flip told him to do it, she pieces it together and she along with Bronk go looking for Yuma as they know Flip is after him. When they finally locate Yuma, they see that he is Dueling against Flip and cheer him on until he wins, even though he was at an overwhelming disadvantage as Flip controlled Yuma's Number cards. After the Duel, Tori along with Bronk become embarrassed as Yuma and Flip have an emotional moment and begin to do various things such as cry, laugh and dance about causing people in the shopping mall to stare.[10]

After finding out that Nelson Andrews, the child actor of The Sparrow was in Heartland City. Tori became very excited and dragged Yuma from Dueling to go and try to sneak into the Star Sparrow Studios. After Flip distracted the guard, Tori and co managed to get in and after Yuma caused destruction of the set, Nelson rescued him from the falling rubble. Having not known where Yuma had gone to, Tori came to the conclusion that he had been caught by the guards but it turned out that whilst he was Nelson, he found out his true personality, to which when he told Tori; shocked her. The same night after Nelson was possessed by the Number 83: Galaxy Queen card, Tori and Yuma went looking for him but he managed to escape.[11]

After going home, Tori is called by Yuma who tells her that he managed to corner Nelson into a Duel and that Tori should get Mrs. Andrews to come to the studios right away. Tori does so and watches Yuma Duel Nelson along with the latters mother and Bronk. After the Duel, Tori asked Yuma why he didn't tell them about Nelson. Yuma said it would upset her if she knew he was a fake. A small blush appeared on her face and she said she knew that Yuma cared a little. Yuma however quickly denied this [12]

One morning, Tori is discussing with Bronk about how strange things have been happening to Yuma. Suddenly he enters wearing a tiger-skin cape and leather trousers which shocks Tori. She then says that she has had enough and tells Yuma about the other strange things which have happened to him lately. Yuma tells Tori that he has better taste than her in clothing to which she challenges Yuma that she can find him a better outfit in the mall to which he accepts. On the way to meet Yuma, Tori is subdued by an army of cats sent by an unknown figure who harbours hatred towards Tori because of the amount of attention she receives from Yuma. Having found out that Tori was kidnapped by this mysterious figure via a cat bringing Yuma and invitation and Tori's hair bow, he runs to the location to find her. His care for her is displayed in how he Duels, such as how he doesn't require Astral's help and how he thinks about his moves. The mysterious figure turns out to be Cathy, a classmate of Tori's. After Yuma defeats her, he runs to find Tori playing hide-and-seek with Cathy's cat army to which shocks Yuma as he thought she was in danger. The next day, Yuma displays anger towards Tori for making him worry and when Cathy runs past after saying hello, Bronk wonders who she is to which Tori calls him rude for not knowing her name, she then in turn doesn't know who she is. After Yuma states who she is and showcases interest in her because she's a good Duelist, Tori gets annoyed and runs past Yuma.[13]

The morning after Yuma's Duel with Nelson Andrews, Tori greets him at school with Bronk and Caswell who then grabs Yuma's Deck to which all three look through it for the Number cards. When Yuma says that he only has them when "he" is with him, Tori instantly knows that Yuma is talking about Astral. Later on, she goes along with Yuma to find Shark after he declared that he wants a rematch but is cornered by Chills, Scorch and their goons. Shark however steps in and tells them to back off, leaving Tori and co alone. She is then shocked when Shark says that he has given up on Dueling due to losing to Yuma. The next day, Bronk asks Tori where Yuma is, she then knows that he has gone to challenge Shark again. After Yuma's Duel with Shark begins, Tori, Caswell and Bronk watch the Duel. Tori is shocked at how Yuma went back on his promise to not use Numbers and is even more shocked when Reginald defeats Yuma so easily.[14]

After his humiliating defeat, Yuma continues to have a cheery mood, annoying Bronk who after defeating Yuma several times walks off. Tori follows him to ask him what's wrong and he tells her that it is Yuma's attitude towards Dueling, to which she partially agrees. Yuma, after much thought decides to ask Shark for another rematch, but Tori tells him to stop getting involved with Shark and his business after Weasel tells Yuma about how Scorch and Chills are using him to commit crimes.[15]

Tori convinces Bronk to forgive Yuma for lying about not summoning Numbers and persuades him to watch Yuma and Shark tag Duel against Scorch and Chills outside of the Heartland Museum. She along with Bronk cheer when the brothers are defeated by Yuma and Shark's "Hope-Ray Lancer" combo, and they pull faces as the brothers run off after losing their Numbers.[16]

During an outing with Yuma to the Heartland Shopping Mall, a criminal takes several people hostage. Seeing this scares Tori and she is shocked when Kari sees her and Yuma on the news as she wants them to obtain her a scoop. Yuma then leaves Tori after he sees that the criminal is possessed by a "Numbers", leaving her worried. After an exhausting day at school, Bronk tells Yuma and Tori about a tournament in a neighboring city to which they all attend. After the tournament, Tori mocks Yuma for losing so easily. Whilst on their way home, it begins to heavily rain thus Yuma starts running home prompting Tori to do the same, but whilst crossing a road, a truck almost hits Tori. Seeing this, Yuma barges Tori out of the way, and before the truck can hit Yuma, Kite pauses time. They then begin a Duel with their "Numbers" on the line.[17]

After being called away from the Duel due to his little brother falling ill, Kite unfreezes time causing the truck that almost hit Yuma and Tori to drive past, splashing water all over Yuma. Seeing this, Tori runs to his side and wonders what happened to which Yuma falls to the floor who then begins to cry out of anger of almost losing to Kite so easily.[18]

After falling into a state of depression, Tori and Bronk visit Yuma to try and cheer him up by informing him about the new tournament occurring within Heartland, the World Duel Carnival. Despite this, Yuma and Astral remain in a state of shock due to their humiliating Duel against Kite. To improve Yuma's skill, Haru Tsukumo desides to send him to the Duel Sanctuary with Tori and Bronk in order to deliver food to her friend Roku. Whilst being at the lodge, Tori, Bronk and Yuma all carry out tasks for Roku. One night, Kaze, a former student of Roku's appears before him and defeats him in a Duel. He then bursts into the lodge, shocking Tori as he attempts to attack a statue of "Blade Armor Ninja". She then watches with her friends as Yuma Duels Kaze to protect the lodge from harm.[19]

As Yuma's Duel with Kaze continues, Haru and Kari show up in order to see how Yuma is doing. Seeing Kari shocks Tori as she knows that she forbids Yuma from Dueling, to which she then shouts at Yuma for Dueling but is interrupted by Roku. During a pinch in the Duel, Yuma falls to the floor as he has lost hope, seeing this, Haru suggests that Yuma could do with a "Duel meal" and looks at Tori to which she then runs into Roku's kitchen and prepares him one, throwing it to him which improves his spirit which leads to him winning the Duel. After the Duel, Roku gives Yuma a "secret lodge Deck" containing several rare cards to which Tori looks at along with her friends.[20]

Seeing how important the "Number" series is becoming in Yuma's life. Tori along with the rest of Yuma's friends decide to produce a group known as the Super Secret Number Cards Investigation Club which are dedicated to researching the "Number's" for Yuma. Whilst investigating the Numbers, Shark tells Tori that she shouldn't get involved with them as they are evil and do nothing but cause trouble. After an exhausting day of finding no information, Tori and her friends group together to discuss but luckily, Flip managed to find out that a fortuneteller under the name of Fortuno knew about the "Numbers". Straight away, Tori and her friends visit the fabled fortuneteller, but it was all a trap as he manages to lure the club into his lair and then trap them in order to lure Yuma into a Duel betting his "Number" cards. After falling into a pit, Tori awakes to find herself along with Caswell, Bronk and Flip trapped ontop of a small rock surrounded by lava.[1]

Tori slaps Yuma.(This scene is cut from the English version)

After Shark's defeat, Tori and her friends visit him in hospital and are shocked at how his soul was extracted by Kite Tenjo. She then accompanies Yuma to visit Mr. Kay in order to find out where the The Emperor's Key has been taken to. After finding out, Tori follows Yuma to Kite Tenjo's Laboratory and helps him manage to get in with the assistance of his other friends. During this time, Yuma give up and begins to cry out of shame, causing Tori to slap him(japanese version only) and tell him to get his act together. He then stands up and with the assistance of Mr. Kay manages to get in.[21]

Tori mourning Yuma's "death".

She along with Bronk distract Orbital 5 long enough for Yuma to locate where Astral is and they somehow manage to make Orbital 5 break. During this time, the laboratory is going to explode, so they evacuate, much to Tori's protests as she didn't want to leave without Yuma. After getting outside of the laboratory, it explodes causing Tori and her friends to think Yuma has died causing her to scream his name out of despair. Much to her happiness, Yuma survived and climbs out of the rubble making Tori shout at him for making her think such things. She then watches Kite fly away along with her friends.[2]

The day after Yuma rescued Astral from Kite, Tori is late for school but runs into Yuma and their other friends showcasing how Yuma's personality has influenced them all into behaving like him. As they talk, they hear the schools bells so run, but whilst running down a staircase, Flip and Caswell trip over but time stops due to Kite finding out what Numbers Yuma has obtained. When time restarts, Flip and Caswell fall down the stairs and Tori is shocked at the matter, but showcases more care towards where Yuma has disappeared to.[22]

World Duel Carnival

On the day before the start of the World Duel Carnival, Tori was shocked to see at how many people within her class had entered the tournament. She was even more shocked at how Yuma was so clueless that he hadn't sent off for the application to enter the tournament. After Yuma ran from the class screaming as he couldn't apply for a Heart Piece, Tori followed him to the entrance of Heartland where he was causing all sorts of annoyance for the staff from playing dead to not letting go of their legs which shocked Tori and her friends as Yuma was acting so much like someone who was drunk. After managing to claim a Heart Piece from Mr. Heartland, Yuma told Tori about his reasons for entering the tournament to which she praised him. On the opening day of the WDC, Tori traveled with Yuma and their friends and watched the virtual firework display before they split up to Duel. As Bronk and Flip split from the group, Kakeru Kunitachi kicked a ball into Yuma's face to challenge him to a Duel which shocked Tori.[23]

Tori as a cheerleader

During Yuma's Duel with Kakeru, Tori was turned into a cheerleader with her friends from school appearing as holographic cheerleaders via Kakeru's Field Spell Card, Dream Pitch. During the Duel, Tori and her holographic friends cheered Yuma on and when the Duel ended, the outfits and her friends disappeared.[24]

Whilst venturing around Heartland with Yuma for opponents, Tori followed Yuma into a construction site despite her protests. As they were running through, a piece of metal fell from the site and before it crushed Tori, a stranger driving a construction vehicle manages to protect Tori. Despite Tori being safe, the construction vehicle continues to drive and when it crashes, the driver falls out. The driver turns out to be a small person, Shobee Yuatsu who complains that his feet are too small to reach the pedals. After introducing themselves, Tori asks him if he is okay causing him to blush showing that he fancies her. After watching Yuma and Shobee Duel, Tori congratulates Yuma and tells Shobee that just because he's small, it doesn't mean he's useless causing him to blush again. They are then shouted at by a Heartland Construction Worker, causing them to all exit the Heartland Construction Site quickly whilst apologising.[25]

After exiting the construction site, Tori and Yuma are pursued by a stranger who begins to attack them with a rocket-launching, flying machine. After chasing them around all of Heartland, the stranger manages to corner Tori and Yuma and after identifying herself as Anna Kozuki, Tori knows who she is. After she and Yuma Duel, Tori begins to remember who Anna was as she used to be a student at Tori's school when she was younger. After Yuma defeats Anna, Tori reminds her that the person she was after wasn't Yuma, but someone with a similar name, Yuya Tsukune which Anna remembers, she then casually flies off, which shocks Tori.[3]

Tori as the Tomato Paradise "Image Girl".

After the exhausting occurrence of being chased around Heartland by Anna, Tori and Yuma decide to stop for a snack. Yuma begins to shove his Duel meals down without biting which Tori tells him off for, but before he can eat his second rice ball, a passing bird steals it. Seeing this, a Duelist known as Housaku Yasai offers Yuma and Tori a cucumber to eat. Tori praises Housaku on how tasty his vegetables are, causing him to blush. This confuses Tori and Yuma who ask him what is wrong, he then reveals that his true intention was to get Tori to be an "image girl" for his Tomato Paradise which is a theme park and city completely modeled after tomatoes. He then reveals that this is his wish that Mr. Heartland would grant if he won the WDC. Yuma challenges him to a Duel to which Tori thinks that he is defending her, but it turns out that all he is doing it for is because he dislikes tomatoes which angers her. She then threatens to force feed Yuma tomatoes if he loses for the rest of his life. He then wins, making Tori happy that she doesn't have to be a tomato image girl.[4]

On the evening of the first day of the WDC, Tori and Yuma are sent to find a man of the name Charlie McCoy by Kari. When they find him, he is challenged to a Duel by a WDC Duelist to which Tori and Yuma watch. After Charlie beats his opponent, the police arrive shocking Tori and Yuma. Charlie then disappears after using the powers of his "Number 7: Lucky Straight" which shocks Tori. She then meets up with Kari to discuss where he would have gone. After Astral states that Charlie would have gone to the Heartland Subway Station, Tori and Yuma go there and manage to sneak onto a subway train the Charlie managed to escape on.[26]

After Yuma challenges Charlie to a Duel which takes place on top of the train, Tori watches from one of the sunroofs of the cart they're on.[27]

During the second day of the World Duel Carnival, Tori meets Yuma at his house for another day of Duels, but hears Bronk and Caswell running past, excited. She along with Yuma decide to follow them to a location where the champion of the East, IV promised to meet them and sign their D-Pads. When at the location, IV proposed a Duel to which they accepted and Tori watched. At first, Tori admired IV's friendly personality as he constantly complimented Bronk's and Caswell's moves making her believe that Shark was mistaken for what happened to his relative in hospital and what occurred at the nationals. This quickly changed as IV became more hostile, performing a One Turn Kill on both of her friends with his "Numbers", "Number 15: Gimmick Puppet Giant Killer which when destroying their monsters, made Tori cringe as it pulled them into a woodchipper and spat their remains out. When the two were defeated, Tori ran to see if they were okay and noticed two tombstones with Bronk and Caswell's heads on them.[28]

After Caswell and Bronk's defeat by IV, Tori assisted Bronk in carrying Caswell to hospital as he had suffered badly at the hands of IV's "Numbers". After Shark beat III, Tori called Yuma on his Duel Gazer in order to tell him that Caswell will be fine.[29]

Tori and a little girl in the fate predicted by Syuta Hayami.

After Shark's Duel with III, Yuma becomes outraged with how IV has mistreated so many people and ends up lashing out at Tori, prompting her to leave him by himself. Whilst venturing around Heartland, Tori stumbles upon a new attraction, a blimp which flies all over Heartland. Then, she notices an old friend, Syuta Hayami taking photos for people. Seeing this, she greets him and asks him to take a photo of her going onto the blimp to which he agrees. Unbeknownst to Tori however is that Syuta is possessed by "Number 25: Force Focus" which causes negative things to happen to things he takes photos of. This results in the blimps engines failing, causing a future which he predicted to become true.[30]

Finding out that Syuta is the cause of Tori's fated demise, Yuma challenges him to a Duel with their "Numbers" on the line. After Yuma defeats Syuta, he ponders on how to stop the blimp from crashing, but suddenly Kite Tenjo appears and manages to stop the blimp from crashing, surprising Tori and Yuma. However it turns out that Kite's real intention was that if the blimp had crashed, the large amount of deaths would have caused a mass panic, preventing the World Duel Carnival from progressing. Syuta then appears again and apologises to Yuma and Tori, then gives them a photo as a gift.[31]

After the events of the blimp, Tori and Yuma stumble upon Spencer, whom is looking for Flip as he stole his Heart Pieces and replaced them with sweets which melted. After managing to find Flip, he was restrained by Gauche and Droite who were going to punish him. Yuma however stepped in and challenged them to a Duel to protect Flip, to which Tori didn't agree with, but despite Tori's pleas, Yuma continued and began the Duel. Throughout the Duel, Yuma gets cornered by Droite's and Gauche's tag-team strategy, causing Tori to worry even further.[32]

When Yuma lost his confidence, Tori shouted at him not the give up until the end which restored his faith in himself. With Astral's return, Yuma won the Duel.[33]

Yuma, Astral and Tori ran into Hart by chance. They went to Yuma's home to eat dinner. When Hart wandered around the city, they went looking for him. After escaping Gauche, Yuma and Tori agree to help Hart find Kite. When Hart lost control of his power, Yuma asked Tori for caramel to calm Hart down.[34]

After Hart with taken by V, Yuma and Tori ran into Gauche who accused Yuma of kidnapping Hart, but Kite came and clarified everything. When Astral found Hart through his projection, Tori searched on her D-Pad for the exact description.[35]

On the third day of the WDC she along with Yuma and the rest of the Super Secret Number Cards Investigation Club watch Sparrow's and Gauche's Duel.[36]. She also watched Yuma Duel Shark, and was constantly worried when Yuma got hit by his attacks. After Yuma's stomach growled, she got upset and grabbed his ear. Like Yuma, she is surprised upon seeing III at Yuma's home.[37]

As Yuma was about to take on III, she along the rest of their friends came to give Yuma their support, which made him happy. When Yuma lost his confidence due to III's crest, like the others she wondered what happened.[38] Once Astral had been killed by III, she yelled his name while in tears.[39]

Relationship

Yuma Tsukumo

Tori has shown many evident that she harbors a crush on Yuma, due to her annoyance at Yuma's adoration with Cathy's Dueling abilities, which she doesn't show towards male Duelists that Yuma admires. She blushes whenever Yuma makes a friendly comment towards her-and is also evidenced when she is worried about Yuma, to which the latter makes a kind gesture by putting a hand on her shoulder, saying he will be all right. Another blatant way that this is evident is that Yuma has gone out of his way to protect Tori many times such as when he thought Cathy had kidnapped her, which also allowed him to Duel without the assistance of Astral or any of the Numbers, winning him the Duel.

Manga biography

In the manga after Yuma lost the Duel against Kite, Tori tried to cheer Yuma up by wearing a D-Pad. Because she failed at this she tried to do various other things like the 20 stack challenge or jumping into the pool.

Trivia

  • Tori seems to be the ZEXAL incarnation of Téa Gardner, as she plays the same female supporting role, who almost never Duels, always cheers on the main protagonist and harbors deep feelings for him. It is also worth mentioning that her dub name is similar to that of Téa Gardner.
